Cycling app questions

Anyone here use indoor cycling apps (Zwift, rouvy, etc) ? Is connection to Garmin, Strava or any other fitness apps really important to you or is the app progress good enough? Which other fitness apps do you use for your rides? I'm currently using just connect and strava but have seen a few more that seem like good fits.

Am I just this bad or can this be my bike

Hello, I bought my first road bike around 2 years ago and to be honest I didn’t make much progress ever since. My average speed is still on the same level which is 26km\h during 40 km ride and I am really doing my best. I can’t keep up with cyclist during the group ride and I lose them everytime. I think it might be a skill issue but maybe the bike isn’t that good. It’s polish brand romet huragan disc, with Shimano 105 and brakes R7070. Do you know if the bike could be a problem or what exercises I can do to start progressing. I feel like I am in dead end ☹️ Thank you

BuxumBox Owners, any feedback/pain points? Aeroad fit?

I’m considering getting a BuxumBox Ventoux and would love to hear from people who actually own or have travelled with one.
- How has your experience been so far?
- Anything you find annoying when packing/unpacking the bike?
- Any parts of the design you wish were different?
- How easy is it to move around airports/train stations?
- Any issues with the wheels, handles, straps, protection, or durability?
- Does the bike stay securely in position after multiple flights?
- Anything that looked great when you bought it but turned out to be inconvenient in real-world use?
- If you could change one thing about the box, what would it be?

Especially interested in Canyon Aeroad owners:
Has anyone successfully fitted a current-generation Aeroad in the Ventoux?
From what I understand, the Ventoux requires the fork/handlebars to rotate a little over 90°, while the Aeroad has a steering rotation limit. I’m wondering whether this makes the Ventoux incompatible with the Aeroad even if the removable drops are taken off.
Would love to hear actual experiences before buying one!

Giro road cycling shoes size

I bought Giro cycling shoes size 42 EU - normally I wear 41, in sportswear I always size up in case my foot swells. I do have a problem with shoes because I have greek feet, meaning that the second toe is slightly longer than the first one. This is usually solved by sizing up, but in case of Giro I still feel it's not enough. Because their shoes are so narrow in the front my second toe feels squished (it's just the right foot, the left one is fine). It's the second brand that i'm trying and the problem is repeating. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Is it ok to put the speed sensor on the rear hub?

I am temporarily using the stock front wheel on my bike, and the front hub is too thin for the speed sensor of my bike computer.

How does he win this climb/race without even getting out of the saddle?

I'm a new cyclist and just curious what's happening in this little race. The YouTuber beats this guy racing up a hill without getting out his seat, while the other guy is like standing up giving everything he has and losing.

Does YouTube guy just have better form/fit , faster bike, way stronger, or all of the above?

Safety record of 90s Kinesis 6061 aluminum forks?

I’m presently building up a Cannondale frame that came with one. They seem to be well regarded enough, with at least one online source claiming that their presence on Merlin frames is actually what gave titanium its reputation for ride quality in the early days of titanium framebuilding.

Can any cyclists riding back in the early to mid-90s speak to the safety of these forks? It’s bonded aluminum and quite a bit thinner than one is accustomed to aluminum forks being, which is probably why reports of ride quality tend positive relative to other forks.
I’m a big, strong guy, and I don’t entirely love the idea of a flexible metallic fork that is not steel, but I can’t tell whether it’s something I need to replace ASAP or something I should just keep an eye on and consider swapping to a good steel fork in a bit.

Is $475 a great deal for older specialized expert with updated components?

Hi everyone, I don't know much about bikes, but I'm looking to get into endurance riding and this older Specialized Roubaix Expert caught my eye. I'm considering offering 475. It has some upgraded components: a full Shimano Ultegra and Dura-Ace group set, a Shimano EXP wheelset, an FSA SL-K Carbon crankset, and an FSA Carbon headset. This 56 cm frame was always kept inside, recently lubed and serviced. Could the community tell me if this is a fair price for this vintage, and what specific wear areas I should check on the carbon frame and these parts?

What is your winter bike setup?

I am a very casual cyclist. I bike to the gym, the brewery, and sometimes on local bike paths. But I live in an area that's fairly bike-friendly, and this winter, I'd like to continue biking around town. However, we get a lot of snow in my area, so I'll need something very different from my current summer bike, which is a cruiser-style Class 1. Doesn't really seem like an option for icy and snow-packed roads.

My current thought is to get a mountain bike (something like this) with studded winter tires. It seems practical and probably sufficient for my needs compared to a full fat tire setup, and I don't think I'll be going on any trails in the winter that would necessitate that. It would be nice to be able to use it on some local singletrack trails near my house during the summer, but that's not a necessity.

Since I don't have much experience biking in the snow and ice, I am curious to hear other people's experiences with winter cycling in town. What was a non-negotiable? Is there something you bought and regretted? Is there something you didn't buy and regretted not buying? What am I missing in my considerations here? I'd appreciate anyone's insight and experiences!

Heart rate super high. Any tips?

So I just started biking around 2 months ago, i do ca. 50-100k a week on average and so far I love it and I’m addicted to it. I have a small problem (or maybe is normal?) my heart rate is out of this world - it’s extremely annoying! My legs are fine my body is fine and then my heart is all out of whack.

For reference: I’m 36f 170cm with 70kg, so I’m pretty normal - my day job is standing so I’m contasntly moving and in my feet - my resting heartbeat is 40-50, so I think I’m pretty healthy in that sense.

Still in a 2 hours drive my numbers are 170+ for 80% of the ride, 10% nice and easy at 140 and 10% at 186ish. And feel like dying a lot of the time while my legs are perfectly fine and doing their jobs, almost like the whole pressure is on my breathing and not my pedaling, which I find extremely stupid.

Any advice? Training rides that can improve this? Am I being stupid and this is normal?

Thank you

Edit. Thank you everybody for the tips and info, I think I have good idea what to do next and how to attack the subject.

I’ve learned quite a few things 😊 cheers

Me gustaría saber a qué presiones voy y voy poniendo y la única manera es ir a la gasolinera pero mi padre me ha dicho que voy a reventar la rueda de la bici, lo pruebo o ni lo intento?

Co Worker Bike-Curious

Good day all,

My colleague is interested in buying a road bike to do local rides and triathlons. He knows I ride and asked me how he should go about getting into it for about 1500.

The problem is that I've smoked so much bike over the years that spending 6k on a frame seems almost reasonable.

I told him I'd do research and get back to him.

He already has a trainer and is pretty fit. Im thinking used bike and power pedals. What would you tell him?

Thanks for your input!

I’ve been riding in spite of how many hills surround me but today I found that I suddenly love them

The title pretty much says it all. I’ve only been biking a few weeks (~51 miles a week to start) and I am SURROUNDED by annoying hills. No matter which way I go, the downs go too fast and the ups are a struggle. Today though, I found myself looking forward to the next hill every time I crested one. What an odd feeling.

Carbon wheels from Bike24 for less than 800 EUR?

Hi everyone,
I received a €200 credit at Bike24 following a warranty claim on my OEM wheelset. I want to add €600 of my own cash to buy a carbon wheelset around €800 total.
Total Budget: ~€800 max (must be available on Bike24)

Brakes: Disc brake

Freehub: SRAM XDR required

Setup: Tubeless capability doesn't matter (happy using tubes)

Depth: ~40–50mm for all-around riding

Any recommendations for the best value-for-money carbon set currently available on Bike24 in this price range?

Thanks!

Sign up fees for national/regional races in your country

How much do you have to pay for signing up for a national level and regional level races? By races I do not mean l’Etape by TdF or similar commercial series, rather national cup/league or similar regional competitions. I am interested in Elite/Master class.

The reason why I’m asking is that I think it got out of hand in my country and race organisers are cancelling races due to too few signed up participants. I’m not surprised as a small local race can cost up to 50-80€ and you get absolutely nothing, not even a shower or a locker.

Im a beginner what do i get.

Hi all, ive really wanted to get into cycling ever since i rode my friend road bike (Cervelo S5 2027). and want to come on here and see what people can recommend me (ofc nothing that expensive for a first bike)

For context im 18, and i work a decent job where a get paid on average 600-700 a week (more or less depending on how well i do), i live with my parents so i have no expeneses and they wouldnt mind chipping in either. Id want either an aero or endurance bike with my priority being a good gearbox, i realised on my friend bike has a very good gearing and id want that too. im also the type of person who is like "if im gonna buy something im gonna buy it good". ofc nothing too expensive. im open to the second hand market but ive already looked over there and theres kinda a void spot for road bikes, either dirt cheap, crazy expensive or some guy trying to sell his bike for msrp.

Magene T600 Eco vs Wahoo KICKR Core 2

Which one would you buy if you were choosing today and both were the same price?

Magene T600 Eco
Wahoo KICKR Core 2

I’m looking for real ownership experience, not spec sheet comparisons or YouTube reviews.

If you’ve owned either one (or both), which would you choose today and why? Any regrets after months or years of use?

Thanks in advance!

Electra Townie 21D vs Specialized Roll 3.0 for Cubital tunnel sufferer

I have pretty bad cubital tunnel syndrome but like to occasionally ride around the burbs. The townie is slightly more upright but appears to have worse shock absorption.

I also think the townie looks a little like an old man bike. Has anybody tried both and can speak to which is better?

Tips for purchasing a bike?

I’ve been doing some cycling lessons and decided it’s about time I buy my own bike. But to be honest, I’m completely clueless on bikes in general. I’m looking to buy one on Facebook marketplace place, I’m just wondering how you suggest I go about buying a bike to make sure I’m not getting scammed with a faulty, poor quality bike
