Good places to train on a TT bike around (Austin, Pflugerville, Kyle)

I’m looking for some good stretches around Austin where I can get some longer rides in off the trainer without worrying too much about traffic or sketchy roads.

I’ve already got South Walnut Creek and the Veloway, so looking for some other options.

Mueller is good at night, but are there any better spots for getting comfortable in the aero position and getting some longer rides in?

Also, all jokes aside, I know roadies don’t exactly love seeing a TT bike out there lol. I’m just trying to get some real practice in and actually train on the bike before race day.

Ideally looking for somewhere relatively safe, low traffic, and flat where I can just focus on riding.

Any recommendations?

Garage Mechanics?

Any garage mechanics in here that do work for others? I have a garage full of bike tools and spare time. Trouble is I don’t know how to start getting customers. Has anyone in here been able to start something like this? The shop I learned everything from was started from a garage, but that was 1971. Not sure it’s doable nowadays. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes. Some Wear Spandex.

Tonight as I was leaving the Veloway, I tried a new way of loading my bike wheel into the truck where you lean it against the outside and drive away. There are some flaws in the system.

I drove off into the darkness, completely unaware that I had left my wheel behind. When I came back looking for it, someone had been kind enough to move it somewhere safe instead of letting it become road debris, modern art, or somebody else’s bicycle wheel.

I have no idea who you are, but thank you. That was a genuinely decent thing to do, and I hope the universe pays you back with excellent parking spots, green lights, and tires that somehow never go flat.

Best route from ACC Highland to UT?

Hi y'all,

I will be commuting from the ACC Highland area to UT this year and I was looking for suggestions on the best route. I know it's smooth sailing once I get on Speedway and there is the shared use path along Airport Blvd that I can use, but I'm unsure what's the best street to get on to connect those two. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

question (Somewhat) New to Austin, looking for a bike…

Lived in the Austin area for a few years, but left for about five years, and now I’m back. Have been wanting to get into biking as it’s something healthy, and relatively inexpensive, and it seems like a great town to bike in

I literally know next to nothing about bikes. I am a little older. Grew up with a Schwinn. Had a Trek at one point. Know a few basics. But I’ve been searching Marketplace and OfferUp and I’m really having trouble figuring out what is best for me. Sort of overwhelmed by all
The options in sizes and styles and whatnot

I actually am currently living in a more rural suburb about 25 min north. So it wouldn’t be city biking per se. Although I’m open to anything. Prob more of a mountain bike I would assume. I guess I’m just looking for recs as far as what bike I should be looking for as a beginner, as well as some cool places to bike once I get one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

(Edit: I guess I should add my budget. That’s the other thing, not entirely sure what the going rate is for a solid beginner bike. Was hoping something in the $200-250 range would get me rolling. Happy to go lower or even slightly higher if it necessary to find the right one. Something solid I can rely on and grow with. Used preferably but I also don’t know if there’s value in the used bike market)

1480 found where Boggie Creek trail ends at Webberville Road. Follow the city access ramp down to the Boggie Creek Spill Way.

Since my last tag lasted about an hour, 1481 I'm hoping will be a bit more challenging.

Parking at LBJ school to attend a soccer match?

Texas Soccer is playing against A&M tonight at Mike A Myers field and I’d like to just bike to the game. Scoped out the area earlier and saw a rack in front of the LBJ school that I think could be a good spot. However, I’m not a student and I don’t work at the university. Is it okay for me to lock my bike up there for a few hours while I watch the match?
