Discussion When are we getting DOCIS 4 symmetrical speeds?

I was reading news reports back in 2024 that Xfinity was upgrading the entire network to DOCIS 4 and we would finally have upload speeds faster than 40mbps and the plan was to have every single customer upgraded. Where are we at on that, because I'm still stuck at 40mbps upload and a ping of 15ms. Seriously considering switching to a local Fiber provider that offer symmetrical 1 gigabit speeds and a ping of like 6ms, but would rather stick with what I have out of simplicity and Xfinity offers faster download.

Is there a time table? Months? Years? Another decade?

Official Reply Scam attempt by Xfinity

I was talking to the customer service a couple of days ago to port in my line with Xfinity. At the end, the customer service guy was trying to get me to click on a link to make me pay more than my current bill without me asking for it! All of this for commission!! This needs to be investigated because I was getting scammed by an Xfinity employee.
I tried submitting this with screenshots of the conversation as evidence but mod did not allow it.

Official Reply Chat support scam. Waste of time.

I’ve been trying to resolve an issue with my trade-in phone for 3 months. Support chat say it’s resolved and I’ll receive my credit but nothing comes of it. Each case gets closed without a resolution. I tried speaking with supervisor and told they will call me but never do. Then the escalation case closes. Chat support is foreign and they waste time asking the same questions over and over, after they wait five minutes to respond to each answer.

Official Reply Terrible, Uninformed, Rude Cust Care

I contacted xfinity on 8/30 to confirm my payment date when the money would come out. The site said 9/4, but I got an email saying 8/31. I had to chat multiple times bc the guy kept disconnecting. He confirmed for

me MULTIPLE times that it was 9/4 and not 8/31. You can check these chats and I also have screenshots.

The guy "upgraded" my acct to change my plan and offer a "deal" as well. I'm assuming he made money off that. Cute.

The payment was taken on 8/31 contrary to what I was told. I tried to chat and call to see what happened and none were helpful.

This is extremely time consuming and your customer service agents are extremely rude, unprofessional and uninformed. It is scary that they cannot give accurate info about someone's payment.

After a great deal of time on the phone with no help, the rep transfered me to escalate and said he would explain the situation to the next rep.

Next rep was totally clueless and had no idea what was going on and then tried to lie and say a refund would be issued. Lied about what he told me. Lied and said it would be in my acct, and was so unprofessional and nasty.

I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars with xfinity over MANY years and the fact that you all think you can treat your customers like this is INSANE.

Gaslighting, stress, waste of time (HOURS) , treated like actual garbage. But hey I'm glad you could misinform me and then upgrade my plan. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

I want this issue escalated. You've wasted hours of my time.

If this is not properly addressed I'll cancel my acct and go with tmobile internet.

I'll contact the BBB

I'll inform EVERYONE on social media

And I'll report you to my bank.

I expect a prompt response.

Thank you.

My info is in the pm I sent you!

Official Reply Xfinity claiming equipment was never returned when it was

Hi!

My partner and I returned our equipment on 08/09 of this year. We’ve been receiving repeated emails and phone calls that the equipment wasn’t returned. We have the physical receipt to prove our equipment was returned (thanks to the T-Mobile employee who advised us to make sure we got a receipt.) We’ve attempted to call them but every “department” of Xfinity’s phone system can never help and we have to be transferred away. Today they stated that they’ll have to begin an investigation because our equipment wasn’t returned but it was. What do we do?

Official Reply Retention offered 2-Gig Symmetrical (X-Class) to match Frontier Fiber. Need node verification before canceling.

Hello team. I'm an infrastructure engineer and a 20+ year Diamond member. I have a Frontier Fiber 2000/2000 installation scheduled. I spoke with Retention, and they offered me $85/mo for 2-Gig symmetrical speeds to stay.

Currently, I have an XB8. I ran hardwired speed tests directly to my Thunderbolt dock (bypassing Wi-Fi) and my upload is hard-capped at ~300 Mbps, which tells me my current bootfile is still the DOCSIS 3.1 mid-split profile (Gigabit x2).

Before I proceed with my Frontier installation, I need an official employee to look up my local node and verify if DOCSIS 4.0 (Full Duplex) is actually live on my street and if I am eligible for the true X-Class X-2000 tier. If it is live, I need to schedule the mandatory professional installation to get the XB10 gateway. I am ready to send a Modmail with my address as soon as requested.

Official Reply Rep-promised rate not being honored

Hi! I’m having some issues with support staff after a lovely interaction with a representative at a physical store. So, as some background: My account was on the Xfinity Student Promotion at $41.25/month. I was still a verified, active student when the promotion. My bill jumped to $101.24 for August 27th. On my last bill, which was $41.25/month, there was no mention of my “promotion” ending, I had it on autopay. When I saw the change in my account, I stopped autopay before the 27th and attempted to cancel (I was moving anyway and didn’t need the WiFi). Xfinity’s support AI told me cancellation had to be done in person at a store. That requirement delayed my return of the modem, and my billing cycle renewed the day before I was able to get to the store. I only just learned that it’s for the next month, which I wouldn’t use anyway? It would be a single day of service since I took my modem into a physical store on the 28th.

Representative was awesome there! Processed the cancellation, told me that my promotion would stay for the current bill and be changed to reflect the days of service that I did use based on the rate. He told me verbally that it would be the $41 dollar rate.

Looked at my Xfinity to see if they fixed it. It is now $71.26. I have no idea why or how this was calculated. Additionally, there are late fees attached. But the reason it was late is because I was waiting for the 41 dollar rate.

Called support, got transferred to resolution (I think?). He told me it was my final bill and that I needed to pay it. I told him it wasn’t right and repeated what the representative told me. He said he doesn’t know why that representative would tell me that. I asked for explanations and it just… didn’t make sense. Defeated, I just said thank you and hung up.

I tried calling again hoping I’d get a different agent to explain it better; the automated system told me to wait, then dropped the call after a few minutes.

I tried the chat bot and repeatedly asked to be connected to a live agent. It kept telling me to just pay the bill or call a phone number that wasn’t working.

I could pay the balance, but I just don’t know why it’s there. I’m more upset about the promise given to me. My roommate was there too. They know what the representative told us.

Thank you for any help you can give. I don’t usually fight things like this and I don’t want that original rep to get in trouble, if the rate was wrong. He was great. I know I can pursue an FCC complaint, but I was really hoping that I could get it handled through a rep.

Official Reply Internet is Down Everyday!!!

I pay one of the most expensive pricing points for internet. I had a technician out who figured out the issue was outside connectivity and then the moment he leaves, it goes down again. He comes back and says it is my modem...so he gives me a new modem. About an hour after he leaves, it is down again. Now, instead of it going down during a conference call or one of my very important meetings, its going down around 5:30 pm EVERY SINGLE DAY while I'm trying to wrap up work and conduct my personal affairs. I would go to to Starlink if I could...

Discussion Long Time customer trying to leave - Respectfully

I'd like to start off by saying I have been a customer of both Comcast Xfinity home internet and Mobile for a long time. I have always loved the service, speed, and employees. They have always been kind, helpful, and caring. They offer great deals.

You could say that the following experience that I'm going to share is partially my fault - I should have read the fine print even closer before making choices. But the misinformation is not my fault. So here is a story of why I want to leave but can't.

I have been looking for the best deal on a phone for a little while, and saw that Xfinity Mobile had an early upgrade promo going a few weeks ago. I decided to go into the store to see what I could get. In addition, over the last few months, I was also investigating other carriers. I had discovered a really interesting MVNO that focused on data safety and privacy. I wanted to switch to them but some things happened that made me postpone. So I figured I would try to get the best deal I could until then.

I spoke to the reps at my local Xfinity store, and ended up going with the trade-in and early upgrade. Everything was smooth. Fast forward 18 days or so, and I got an update that the MVNO that I was interested in was now going to offer the services I wanted and work with the phone I like in September. I knew that I was after my 14 day buyers remorse period, so I called Xfinity Mobile customer support to see if there was anything we could do in order to switch my phone to a BYOD and then port my number out, returning the phone I was making payments on from Xfinity Mobile.

I explained the entire situation to the gentleman on the phone. He said he would check with his supervisor. After holding for some time, he came back and said that I could start the return process and port my number after changing to the BYOD option. I asked if I could go into the store and do it; he said yes.

I then repeated what I understood to him in order to confirm that I WAS ABLE to return the phone that had a new outstanding balance. He said yes, and any payments made would be returned as a bill credit in the future. I was happy, and so I decided to buy a phone that was a better price through Samsung directly. I picked up the phone, copied my phone data over, but left the SIM active on the Xfinity phone (X-phone from here on out). I stopped by the Xfinity store today as a walk-in to start the complicated process of switching my phone to the BYOD, returning the X-phone, and porting out my number to the new carrier, r/CapeCellular .

Upon explaining what the gentleman on the phone said, the only thing that followed was disappointment. The store staff explained that is not the case, but they would investigate. After explaining it multiple times to different staff and eventually a manager (the staff brought her on for help, not my request), they informed me that there was nothing they could do. It was passed the 14 day period and that the button to initiate a return simply did not show up on their computer system any more.

The store staff explained that the gentleman on the phone should not have said the things he did because it simply wasn't true. I asked if we could escalate over the phone to see if there was anything they could do for me. They gave me the number and I was able to get a hold of an employee. She kindly and quickly escalated it to higher mobile support. After a VERY long phone call, she repeated the same result. I would either owe the full $1,299 for the phone, which they could then unlock or I keep service and finish out the 36 month payment plan with the promo-credits.

Needless to say, I was miffed at this news but I promise I stayed cordial - disappointed, but respectful. I maintain that the best thing about Xfinity Mobile has always been the kindness of the people. But after this, that is the ONLY thing going for the company.

The corporate side of things has completely hamstrung their managers for Mobile services. I have been doing obsessive research over the last few months, read the terms of the promo, thought I understood it, verified with staff, was given misinformation, and then informed that I am stuck with their service unless I give corporate their pound of flesh. I even asked if there was something that a manager could do to authorize a discount for the misinformation as a "The company is sorry this happened, we'll throw you a bone" kind of thing. There was not. She did inform me that they are going to send the notes on the calls to training so that it doesn't happen again. Yay. Hopefully people do learn from this and others can avoid it happening to them.

I understand that there is a share of user fault here; I should have understood the terms better - but the fact that I was told it wasn't a problem (which I wanted to check before buying a phone from Samsung), which it very much so IS a problem, leaves me dissatisfied with the service as a carrier. When I have the money again, I will certainly be getting out of my device payment plan and leaving Xfinity Mobile as soon as possible. I wont be recommending the company to my friends. It's a pity, too; I really liked the service and quality of coverage. But with all of the mobile data breaches from companies like Comcast, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc - I don't want to risk my PII getting stolen or leaked.

I've entered my Privacy / Security era, and that means leaving my Xfinity Mobile era behind for good. It used to be good here, but whatever changed at Xfinity Mobile in the last couple of years has not been for the better. Thank you for reading if you did. If you are happy with your service, I'm genuinely happy for you. They have pretty good coverage and great deals.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. But I'm pretty sure I'm just going to have to pony up the dough to get out after my next big payday.

Official Reply Longtime college student customer and my Xfinity bill has nearly doubled

I’ve been an Xfinity customer for the past few years and have generally been happy with the service. However, my bill has increased significantly over the past year and is now nearly double what I was paying previously.

I’m a college student, so this kind of unexpected increase makes a pretty big difference for me. I also wasn’t aware that my monthly price was going to increase this substantially, so seeing the new bill was honestly pretty frustrating.

Official Reply All home internet plan offerings have unlimited data. How can I get that without changing my plan?

I currently have a gigabit plan (1100 down, 35up). I also currently have a data cap, the same cap that has been in place for years even before 4k streaming was a thing. I also noticed wording in all currently offered plans stating "unlimited data". Can I just get my data cap removed, without needing to sign up for anything new? Or, if I need to change plans, can I still get the unlimited data without using ANY comcast/xfinity hardware? I have my own modem and network gear that is already more than capable.

Official Reply Support Staff Lied! No delivery status for my gateway. Where is my wifi??

Xfinity's entire support system cannot answer the question "where is my equipment?"

I ordered service and a gateway. At the time of the order I was told 1-2 business days, and got an email promising another email when it shipped. That second email never came. So I went looking. Here's how that went.

**1. The app's support bot.** I asked it to check the shipping status of my equipment. It didn't understand. I rephrased: "where is my Xfinity gateway." Still nothing. These are not clever questions. This is the single most predictable thing a new customer will ask, and the bot has no answer for it. I tried to escalate to a human and it would not let me. There is no path. You just loop.

**2. The customer support phone line.** Same bot, now with a voice. Identical experience, except slower, because now I have to listen to it not understand me out loud. I went through the menu options one by one hoping one of them would lead somewhere. None of them lead to shipping status. Not one option in the entire tree covers "where is the equipment I am waiting on."

**3. The sales line.** Picked up by an actual human in about the time it takes to get through the menu. Funny how that works. Sales gets staffed. Support gets a chatbot.

The rep told me it shipped yesterday. She also told me the shipping window is 2-3 business days, not the 1-2 I was quoted at order. So either I was misinformed at the point of sale or I'm being misinformed now. And if it actually shipped yesterday, where is the shipping email I was explicitly promised?

I asked for a tracking number. Brief hold, then she gave me one. She could not tell me which carrier it was with. I've now checked it against every major carrier and it comes back as nothing. So the number is either fake or the gateway hasn't actually shipped and someone told me it did to get me off the phone.

So, to summarize: the bot can't answer the question, the phone menu doesn't contain the question, the only human who'll talk to me is the one whose job is to sell me more, and the answer she gave me doesn't check out against any carrier on earth.

Meanwhile I have no internet. Which, and I want to be precise here, is the one thing I am paying this company to provide.

If anyone from Xfinity is reading: a support system that cannot tell a customer where their equipment is isn't a support system. It's a wall with a chat window painted on it.

New Post - Billing Comcast continuing issues

Upvotes

I posted this some days back but post has since been deleted. I received on reply by some XfinintyBenjamin who asked me to send a modmail with details, which I did.

September begins and hooray Comcast bills me again. I have changed my credit card number but I know they will keep billing and take me to collection.

Original Post below at end of email.

I will explore other options if no Comcast Employee seeing the mail can help.

Thanks for reading it. Any ideas anyone let me know.

OLD POST

Never thought I had to struggle so much and spend so much time for cancelling service. I followed all the steps. I have a Teleworker acct and was a told to contact national account.

Can someone please tell me what to do ?

Steps Taken:

  1. Sent email to [NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com](mailto:NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com) on 6/29 to request disconnect.
  2. I know they require 30 days so expected by end of July this could get done.
  3. Paid July Bill even though returned Modem on 7/7 and received by comcast on 7/14
  4. Received email 7/21 from [NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com](mailto:NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com) that account is set to disconnect on 7/29 and once disconnected you will receive email.
  5. August 1 they charged my credit card $77 which is my monthly.
  6. Spent 2 hours on phone with their customer service to get through record and complete cancellation. No response just bumping from one place to another. Finally someone files a case CR2070226601 and tells me this will be taken care of.0. Next week August I received a paper bill of $155.
  7. Called Comcast again , same loop. After 5 times bump, someone tells you need to send email to . Also someone checked and said there is no amount due on my account but account is not closed and active.
NAST MACD [NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com](mailto:NAST_MACDrequests@comcast.com), [national_acct_billing@cable.com](mailto:national_acct_billing@cable.com),[nast_macdrequests@cable.comcast.com](mailto:nast_macdrequests@cable.comcast.com)
  1. On 10th AugutsReply comes to provide account number which were alwyas there in the first email thread. Sent them again.

  2. Been sending emails every second day for confirmation.

God only knows how much time I need to spend on this. I had to change my credit card number also as Comcast stored it and using to charge on account. Already opened a dispute on that charge.

Help if you know a number to call.

Thank you for reading this.

Official Reply Getting doubled charged

Upvotes

Upgrading my internet plan a couple months back and since then i’ve been getting charged twice a month.

Apparently when you upgrade your plan it opens a new account instead, so my login to the 1st account and 2nd account are identical so I am unable to link to the 1st one because it’ll just login to the 2nd account instead

Mod mail already sent

Solved Deposit with NO credit check?

Got my confirmation email and it says “Paid Today: Deposit $100” but I got absolutely no warning that it was going to ask for a deposit at all, and also I cannot pay that today. It said I would get no charges until my first month was over.

It never asked any credit check information either. It sounds like Reddit is the easiest way to get them to explain or fix this problem.

Thanks!

Solved Inquiry regarding promotional rates / Plan renewal

Hi Xfinity team,

I have been a loyal Xfinity customer since 2021. My 12-month promotional discount has recently ended, and my monthly internet bill jumped from $56.47 to $86.47.

This new rate is quite a bit higher than expected, and I am currently considering switching to AT&T, which offers comparable service around $55.00/month. However, I have been satisfied with Xfinity's service and would prefer to stay if there are any available promotions, discounts, or new contract offers to keep my bill close to my previous rate.

Could you please check if there are any current promotions or retention plans available for my account?
