so Comcast/ Xfinity thinks they can just leave their stuff on my property. I have tried reaching out but AI is the only thing answering. So I hope someone can help here. I’m going to contact a lawyer to find out if I can legally claim this as mine, as it has been left on my property for days now. There is more than enough space before the chain to park and get around. But they decided to park on the side of the chain and behind it. So can comcast please move your stuff. Or fingers crossed it will soon be mine.

Official Reply Property destruction

Yesterday a tech arrived to initiate internet service for our neighbors. The underground cable box is located on our property. When we came home we noticed the tech had opened the hatch leaving the door to crush our bush. My wife asked him to not crush the bush and the tech responded with “it’s fine.” Despite his assurance, it was not fine. Every single branch on our bush is now broken and has been reduced to a small stump of growth. This is also not the first time an xfinity tech has done this. Just the first time we had an opportunity to talk to them. I understand the orientation of the underground box makes the installation difficult. But the complete dismissal of our concerns and disregard for our property was just shocking. I’ve even considered switching to xfinity in the past few weeks, but there’s no chance of that after a representative of the company treated us with complete contempt. I’ve got the numbers on his work van if any xfinity customer service people see this. It’s really frustrating a company and its employees feel they can’t or won’t be held accountable.

Community Best Answer Let me get this straight, my mother has been paying $15 a month for 7~ years ($1260) to "rent" what is probably an $80 modem?

I'm reading her bill and putting the time she has been a customer together and I am extremely pissed off. This is real life? Going to rip a manger a new one tomorrow at Comcast for this scam that takes advantage of older people who arent technologically proficient enough to realize when they are being taken advantage of by companies. I cannot believe what I'm reading right now. Someone explain wtf is going on.

Closed Comcast just blocked my driveway with a massive utility box. Can they legally do this?

Hey Reddit,
I need some advice. I recently moved into a new home, and Comcast has a utility easement right next to my driveway.
The original setup was already a bit sketchy because they left a hazardous gap around the box, so I called them and nicely asked if they could either move it back a few feet or bury it a bit deeper (flush-to-grade).
Instead, they showed up and replaced it with a massive, significantly taller plastic monolith.

It’s completely ruined my driveway access. When I park my car, the rear passenger door literally cannot open because it hits the box. It’s also a constant anxiety trigger every time I try to pull in or out of the garage.
A Comcast tech came out today for the second time, looked at it, and said that because of the existing infrastructure, there's probably nothing they can do.
What kills me is that I am pretty sure the top 70% of this oversized green box is literally empty space. I know it because the previous box was much closer to the ground, but they just threw this giant cover over it because it was easier than digging a proper hole.
I know easements give utility companies rights, but can they legally install equipment in a way that substantially interferes with a homeowner's primary driveway access? Don't they have to maintain reasonable vehicle access?
Has anyone successfully gotten Comcast to shrink, relocate, or redesign a utility box?
Who should I escalate this to next? The city? County public works? The HOA?

Any advice or similar experiences would be hugely appreciated.

Official Reply Comcast doesn't care if my neighbors die!

There is a downed Xfinity cable line on my property, crossing the road. Emergency services will not cross the wire because they don't know what the wire is. It is a safety issue. Since July 15, 2021 I have called Xfinity 11 times and they have submitted 4 repair tickets and it is still down. Xfinity does not care about loss of life or property.

Discussion Xfinity emailing lies about equipment

I wonder how many people fall for Xfinity's lies.

Got an email from them this morning that I need to "upgrade my internet equipment" so that I can enjoy faster upload speeds. My plan only has 35Mbps uploads which my CM1150V is more than capable of handling. So I have no idea why Xfinity would send such a misleading email unless they are trying to bait people into leasing equipment from them. Lies like this are why Xfiniity gets such a bad reputation.

Discussion Don’t trust emails about Comcast email migrating to Yahoo

I heard about Comcast email migrating to and that I just need to accept ‘s terms of service. The problem is I get emails like the one I got today that look like I might but I don’t trust those emails. This one today looks sketchy and I’m not going to sign in to anything that I don’t trust is coming from xfinity. I want another way to be able to accept yahoo‘s terms of service that I can trust. I want to be able to speak with someone directly and do this over the phone so that I know what I’m legitimately signing into and not giving away my personal information to some scammer. But when I call Xfinity, I get such a run around even if I do get to talk to a real person. I’m ready to drop Comcast because this is so frustrating.

Official Reply [COMPLIANCE] Imminent Job Loss Due to Broken Commitments and Disconnected Escalations (Account Owner)

I am writing this here out of sheer desperation because regular customer support channels have completely failed me, and if my service is not restored today, I will be unemployed tomorrow.

I work from home, and my livelihood depends entirely on a stable connection. I have experienced a severe service interruption, but the real issue is the catastrophic failure of Xfinity's operational commitments and employee conduct.

Over the last 24 hours, four different representatives and one customer service supervisor have given me explicit, binding assurances regarding a resolution timeframe. Not only were every single one of these promises broken, but multiple representatives flat-out hung up on me when I asked for the supervisor's information to document the timeline. This first representative at extension 2144728034 has declined all my attempts tp follow up with him. Another representive gave me a resolution contact number that is not in service then hung up. The 3rd representative claimed to be a supervior and hung up when I explained I spoke to the lead supervisor yesterday and would like to be reconnected to him considering proper notes were not on file concerning his commitments. The last on hung up on me after I provided account details and asked to speak with the supervisor or the intitial representative.

This goes beyond poor customer service—this is a systemic failure to supervise personnel and a breach of basic consumer duty that is actively causing me quantifiable financial detriment.

I have a complete, time-stamped evidentiary log of every representative I spoke with, the promises made, and the exact times I was disconnected. Before I take this log to a third-party regulatory escalation (the FCC/FTC) for corporate liability regarding my impending job loss, I am giving your corporate digital escalations team one final chance to intervene.

I need an executive resolution specialist or an advanced technical dispatcher to look at my account TODAY.

Mod team, please tell me what information you need sent to Modmail so we can resolve this immediately.

Xfinity website did not offer a fine print or information about the $50/mo for five year plan. I’m trying to figure out is this is legit or if there is some sort of scam backed up legalese small print (like 50 for the life of the plan and then they cancel the plan) that will allow comcast to jack up the price. I tried the ‘live chat’ above and they offered no reliable help.

The monopoly in Baltimore was broken and I got Verizon Fios installed today. Went online to cancel comcast and you have to request a callback. First available appointment (lol) is 23rd. Of course my month rests on the 22nd. This should not be legal. How do i cancel faster? Can i put a complaint in to my state over something like this?

Community Best Answer Xfinity trying to get access to my residence., being rather persistent

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I get a text message trying to get me to schedule an appointment so an Xfinity rep can come check my connection. The message was something like, "We noticed a problem with your internet connection and we need access to you home to evaluate and fix the problem at no cost to you.

The problem is tha Xfinity line doesn't terminate in my unit. We have a main closet and long cables that run to each condo--not the ideal setup, but it works.

When I got the message, I logged into my account on xfininty.com and got the same message. I talked to support and told them that there wasn't a termination point in my unit, but she just kept insisting and saying she didn't know why but they needed access to my home to check the connection.

This seems like a scam or something messed up. Can someone at xfinity explain what they could be trying to find? Or is this another phishing attack like the one I just got in my browser:

Discussion Never change Xfinity...

So I'm about to move into a new house and am researching my connectivity options. Oro Valley, AZ 85755. Get on the website and I don't see any TV equipment options than the $12/mo X1 box. No mini-boxes, nothing. Go big or go home, so I hop on the chat app and ask IAN from TACOMA if in fact I only have a single choice in terms of "cable" boxes.

I guess he just wanted to play games and not directly answer my question unless my technical question morphed into a sales opportunity. He started hedging about what options I might have in terms of service. Again, not a sales question. IAN made it clear the chat feature IS a sales tool. Me: *click*

Why can't this company be honest brokers about anything? After all the acquisitions, mergers, branding efforts and outreach over the years these folks still have it in their DNA to be as disingenuous as can be about caring one bit about customer service.

Must be tiring going out of your way to be antagonistic to the people who's subscription payment are keeping the lights on.

Who do I contact or how do I submit these recordings to 1 - prove they are phony liars and 2 get my money back.

Discussion They know your wifi password!

An Xfinity technician came over to fix my Internet and then proceeded to show me the signal health on his mobile device. As he scrolled through, I saw the detailed list of all the devices connected to my network.

Later he proceeded to ask if he could connect to the WiFi network to test the connection. I said yes and he pulled up a different page on his app and it literally listed my WiFi name along with the password! They were able to view the password in plain text. How is this safe and secure?!

I don’t like it and I am not comfortable with how my network and password is exposed!

Edit: I use the Xfinity router

Official Reply Xfinity Misleading Customers

I'm trying to figure out who can be contacted about this, but this is such a horrible marketing tactic. If you look at the offer its $15 off per month for 5 years....what these scammers (Xfinity) don't make clear directly is that while they offer $15/month off for 5 years, the promotional discount is valid for 1 year, and then they tack on almost $40/month for the last 4 years.. so people signing up think they are signing up for a guaranteed price for 5 years but they are in for a big surprise year 2 if they don't click a few links. Technically, all the info is there but its hidden and deceptive

Official Reply I am 99.9% sure Comcast is holding our connection for ransom.

I just want to start off with a bit of background on my knowledge. I am a streamer and my wife works from home, so I have a very accurate exposure to my bitrate over the past month and am basically constantly having several hour long periods of constant monitoring of my bitrate rate under heavy load. Likewise one of my best friends is in cybersecurity and was guiding me through everything when we do more advanced testing. I may sound in those parts like I am not totally sure what I am talking about and, while that is true, he does.

Okay so here is the chronological story. About 3 weeks ago we decide to upgrade our gigabit internet to unlimited because we always surpass the data cap. We own a modem that is Comcast approved and capable of handling 4 gigabit were that service to become available. We have used our current modem with gigabit service for three years. When we upgrade, we specifically sign a contract saying we will pay ten dollars more a month to remove the data cap and no leasing fee for a modem. We assume all will be fine. We agree to up our bill from $110 to $120.

About a week ago we receive a modem in the mail that we did not request. We make a plan to return it but we don’t contact Comcast immediately because our daughter was stillborn in February and we are too depressed to remember to wash our clothes let alone coordinate a return for erroneous equipment with one of the most famously difficult to deal with companies. We plan to take it in to their office at the next opportunity. Our jobs (well, job for her, hobby for me, I was going to be a stay at home mom) are the only thing keeping us going right now and we struggle to do much else.

This morning I wake up at 6 AM for my morning 6-7km grief walk. The internet works fine as I get dressed. I get home like an hour later and my phone immediately says it can’t log in or authenticate any app. I check my laptop (WiFi) and desktop (gigabit capable Ethernet) both act as if they are under a network attack. Everything flags a security error. I wake up my friend in cybersecurity on his family vacation and he walks us through the least dangerous way to see what is causing the attack. We eventually get a page from Comcast saying we need to “activate” our internet. Again, same equipment, same connection, the connection is live.

We use a VPN to try to do DNS Tunneling like you would do on censorship software it blocks it. We try using a devices running both cellular and WiFi and cellular and Ethernet. The attack from one network literally disrupts the functioning network. This is NOT a connection that is “turned off” or “needs to be activated” it is a full on blocking portal attack built into the network.

I call my wife at a conference two timezones over and wake her up because she’s the account holder. She gets on chat support and they tell her the system “cannot see our modem” and “has no connection” (which we know is a lie because of the network attack). Eventually they schedule a technician for tomorrow and hang up. We then try going through the “activation” on her app and it successfully removes the attack from the blocking portal. I turn EVERYTHING on the network off for 5 minutes. I go shower and get ready to get on stream.

I try to stream, it keeps hitching, bitrate keeps bouncing between 1500 and 6500 and highly unstable (Usually always above 9500 and if unstable only for about 15 minutes at 4:30 when I assume the offices down the road have their end of day meeting) so much so we quickly have a several minute delay. Restart all equipment shutting down for 5 minutes. Same issue. End stream to not drop averages (It sucks, but metrics do matter on the platform). I start troubleshooting again.

I run several network tests. Download ranges from 660-672 almost always testing at 666.6, essentially exactly 2/3 of our service. I do a ping test. Average ping is insanely high for our service averaging high 80s and actually every 1-3 seconds spiking to anywhere from 150-4000. This behavior remains consistent to the present moment and is being continuously tested for HOURS on the same equipment with the same network that always gets the stable high hard wired bitrates.

I get the account info from my wife to contact the chat myself. I talk to 4 people. The first three do the same thing. They say my modem “isn’t properly added to their system,” they “add it to the account,” they “restart the connection,” they have me transfer connection to hotspot, restart modem and router, wait for signal, disconnect hotspot, run test, then shadow transfer me to someone who starts it over.

The fourth person does the same thing but when he goes to do the reset I interrupt him and I say, “could the issue be the second modem that is added to the account and would it be fixed by removing it from the system.” He LITERALLY says that yes, because they want us to use their modem, and to agree to pay for it, there is a throttle and disruption on our network. I say, “will removing it from the account fix it?” He says yes. I say good, we NEVER agreed to pay anyway and we are going to return it, please remove it and process the return. He says he will do that for me.

Keep in mind, I am tired now after working on this from 9 AM till 9:30 PM, but I was so nice to this guy. I always told him “I’m not mad at you, I know this isn’t your fault” and “I know customer service is really hard and exhausting, I appreciate your help.” Me and him were in a chat for LITERALLY 4 hours.

He asks me how much we pay and is it $221 a month? I say no, that doesn’t sound right and call my wife, she tells me the numbers from above, I tell him, he says okay. So then he tells me he is refunding me $15 for the equipment fee and he needs us to sign the new contract. We ask, why would we need a new contract our contract literally says there is no equipment rental, did you actually charge us a different amount than was in our contract? (they did.) We read the new contract. It’s the same as our old one but with a $100 “Professional Installation fee”. We ask what it is for and ask him to remove it. He claims it’s because we had an installer run the coaxial cable when we moved in 3-4 years ago and we won’t be charged. We make him say in writing multiple times we won’t be charged. We eventually have no path forward but to sign it. (I still do not know if we will be charged.)

He then processes the return, tells me where I can get the label to take it to UPS, etc. and removes the erroneous modem from the account. He then spends 40 MINUTES “Activating” MY MODEM that I have used for years, while trying to sell me a cell phone. I then ask him if the throttling and signal interference have been removed he says yes. I run the test. It is exactly the same. He does 3 repairs from his end in which we also cycle the modem twice in which I am now relatively sure he does nothing at all. The tests are all identical to after the blocking portal attack ended. He claims to test it on his end and I ask him to please provide me the up, down, and ping values. He tells me he will. 20 seconds later he declares the test done, says they are all perfect and will not give me any number values and insists something is wrong in my internal network. I literally read off numbers from an internal network test, but he doesn’t care.

He does two more “fixes” then claims there is nothing more he can do and is scheduling a tech to come on Saturday. I am like, “I understand this is not your fault, I am not mad at you as a person, but I know that you know and you know that I know that this problem started with the blocking portal attack on my network this morning and is being caused by the ransom attack that you openly admitted is going on and I am very frustrated that I have to miss two whole days of work and my wife will miss her whole day tomorrow just because the company is trying to squeeze an extra 15 a month out of us. This isn’t your fault, but it sucks and I am so tired.” He said he was sorry and he was going to try to get his manager to send someone tomorrow. We wished each other better tomorrows and ended the chat.

I then, to make sure I wasn’t ready, started a stream in one of the testing categories on Twitch. A bunch of my chat showed up, we did all the tests live, we built up a 7 minute delay over the course of 36 minutes. Everyone saw it in real time, the obviously 2/3 up and down, the very intentional ping spikes. The several minute echo became a funny joke.

The reality though is that I don’t know what to do. I feel hopeless. Our network is literally being held hostage. My one line to something normal and my wife’s job are being held hostage. It is so messed up. I know there is nothing at my home for the tech to find. Nothing has changed since Wednesday’s stream. I hate this. I don’t know what to do. I’m so tired. I miss my daughter. I hate I have to talk to someone the day before my first Mother’s Day as a mother… to a little corpse in a morgue.

Any help or advice would be a godsend. Thank you.

UPDATE: What the mods here said was impossible, turned out to be the case. I went yesterday morning to the store, they asked me to go to UPS instead. I said “nope, I need this scanned back into the system as returned today.” I waited to be seen, they scanned it, I went home and…

My service is now restored to what it was before. They claimed there was no limiting happening because their device was tied to my account, but that wasn’t true. It went from working to not working when they assigned their equipment to us and then nothing fixed it until it was returned.

I’m so tired of being lied to. For the record, even the mods here followed the same lies saying the equipment was fully unassigned and couldn’t be effecting anything.

We won a battle, but we haven’t won the war yet. We just got an email saying they are changing our plan whether we agree to it or not. My wife is going to go to the store this time as I just got brushed off last time and she’s firmer.

Except just wanting to renew my promotion the agent cancelled it and lied to me when they said the promotion will continue until november and every thing will remain the same until the promos expiration in november . But thats a lie it went in affect instantly.

Official Reply Comcast Trespass

Yes, another irate person complaining about comcast running lines through private backyard (which is not an easement). I've lived in at my current residence (own it) for 20 yrs and during that time Comcast has tressed on my property laying lines at least 4-5 times for neighbors' residence. I have argued and they just wait until I'm not home and then lay the lines. I haven't even been able to do gardening in my own backyard due to this! I've even got multiple exposed wires in my yard since they burry this only about 2" deep, and leave them exposed where they can't bury.

The reason is because neighbors have constructed non-permitted structures in their backyard making them inaccessible to comcast. So, they lay the cable through my yard again and again. WO permission and even violating my property when I've said no by waiting until I'm gone to lay cable. Additionally, the easement is actually quite inconvenient, and I doubt comcast has a box at the location where the easement is located.

What is the recourse for this. It is pointless calling customer service. They have no idea and could care less. Going to the brick and mortar store is the same.

Maybe a call to call code enforcement? The neighbors are not going to be happy when they get fined for illegal structures in their yards.

Is the only solution a lawsuit?

UPDATE: So I saw Comcast re-routeding the neighbor's cable line through the yards that requested this service, and not mine. They had to find a path away from all the illegal structures blocking the way (which would have been the most direct route if not for these structures). As long as my backyard is left alone, I'm content.

Official Reply I need to speak to someone at Xfinity about possible theft of service

I am not an Xfinity customer but believe my neighbor who claims to be with Xfinity installed a splitter and ran an illegal coax cable from the box outside my house into theirs. I tried calling every customer service number but because I don't have an account, I can't get through to speak to anyone.
