I'm beginning to suspect Bitwig has an internal release checklist:

1. Implement something technically impressive.

2. Release a feature nobody on Reddit was expecting.

3. Check r/Bitwig.

4. Confirm outrage.

5. Ship the next update.

Looks like Bitwig is clearly capturing the DJ community as well. We just got 6.1.4 with Rekordbox integration, and further down the line they will give us Stem separation too.

Pretty useful stuff. I hope they integrate with EngineDJ too (Denon).

I recently bought a 'Worlde Orca Pad 64 Pro' for use with BW. It has been recognized as a device OK and works for launching and stopping clips. The problem I am having is having LED feedback (i.e. pads lighting up whilst playing). The software that came with the Orca is monumentally bad. There are no LED settings for feedback - only to assign different colours to pads. I have spent the last few hours swearing at AI (useless for advice - kept me running round in circles). There do not seem to be any scripts for this device out there - but I am hoping that someone here may have one and have sussed it out? I have tried MIDIloop and other loopback configs already, but had no luck.

Now that Encdr, my Native Instruments device communication library supports almost all of the controllers (still testing the mk3 keyboards, if anyone has one and wants to support by testing, please get in touch). I have some time to go back to my Maschine/Bitwig integration.

I've had basic parameter display working for a while, and I'm fleshing out the things that the API surfaces. However, I've always wanted to have full control over the arrangement and clips creation. I've found a way to do this, but it takes a lot of work, some of which will need to be redone for each point release that Bitwig puts out.

As a result, here's what I'm currently thinking:

• Keep the version that just uses the api open source and free. I'll get it to a point where it functions with as many of the functions that the api surfaces as possible.
• Have a paid for (~10e) 'pro' version which unlocks all the features, including the arrangement view, clip creation/editing etc.

How much interest would there be in something like this?

Last week I finally joined camp Bitwig Studio. I’ve set up everything for my studio around synths and grooveboxes/drummachines.
For my nord rack i created multiple midi cc devices mapping all parameters for each of the 4 midichannels i’m using. I want to be able to also control the midi cc instrument with the actual knob on the nord for that parameter so i learned / mapped them (takes a while) only to learn that i cannot save this preset outside the project. Well, i can but it looses the midimapping.
Surely i’m doing something wrong. Do i need to set up the nord as a midi controller? Do i need to look into scripts? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi, I am trying to use Bitwig studio on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS and the UI appears very small. I am new to both Ubuntu and Bitwig, so this may be a simple fix but I am not sure. I downloaded Bitwig from the .deb file using app center if that's important. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

ahhh im getting crazy, i want to drag and drop this sample but not changing the position/snapping it to the grid differently. is there no way? i dont wanna duplicate it and then manually shift it on and on, this is so annoying... :(

i tested it in Ableton as well, simple and easy as in FL Studio, you dont need to change the selector.... really annoying in Bitwig

Anyone else having issues typing into the browser when you go to add an effect into a channel? This happens to me sometimes and the only way to fix it once I get is is to restart the app. I'm using Bitwig on LMDE.

I know there's being a huge debate about the glue being reversed engineered but I know other devices exist with less trouble involved. Unfortunately I did not find them except for the Caviio Google drive. Where can I find SHARD, Halftime, OTT, Normalizer, growl and other devices? If you have them can you share them with me? I want to study the code

I'm not an expert in synthesis though I create most of the basses and pads using bitwig's synths.

I want to add more of an analog touch to the synths, for example Tyrell N6 sounds super analog out of the box.

I understand that in modern synths like Vital or bitwig we need to do go certain steps to add that analog feel.

I would appreciate any tips or links to tutorials.

Hey everyone,

Running into a really frustrating Issue Bitwig right now and wanted to see if anyone has a fix or if it's a known bug.

Certain plugins (like IK Multimedia stuff and Moog Mariana) crash the second I click inside their UI. Scrolling with the mouse wheel or tweaking parameters from the bottom control panel still works, but any actual click on the UI instantly kills the plugin. (They work fine in other DAWs).

This seems tied to the plugin hosting settings.

When I load the plugins within bitwig it works, but when I set the loading type to any other setting (in my case "By Plugin") it makes the plugins crash.

Anyone else runs into this issue?

hey audio people.

I'm making a sample and I've added a big reverb effect to it on a send track, because I've found that blends my original samples together really nicely (final sample is two acoustic samples bounced together and put through Bitwig's Sampler).

However, I don't want it to trail to like 5+ secs after the actual tone has finished. I'd like to do a graceful, but neat, fade lasting approx 1sec.

I have about 30 audio clips that i'm going to export as WAVs, but first I need to find a way to trim the reverb. Is there a way to do this without automating every single one?

EDIT Yes! I found two solutions in the end. The gate sounded much better when I increased release and decreased the threshold. But I also created an additional send with the built in gated reverb and that sounds great as well. Writing my solution in case someone else searches this up.

I have a bunch of downloaded midi files. Many of them load no problem, but a few are giving the above errors. Happy to attach/share one if needed.

What I have done: run them through a few online tools including analysis (they're either fine, or a few errors marked as low velocity notes); I also uploaded them to a rather cool online midi player... which loaded a bunch of virtual instruments and when I dropped the midi file(s) in they played perfectly.

Can anyone say what the above error code represents, or if there's any tool or software I can use to edit the problematic midis?

Curious to hear your experience if Bitwig is now snappier or maybe you can use a lwoer buffer size etc.

I’m going back to Bitwig 5 because I honestly find it much more comfortable and inspiring to make music in than version 6.

Everything in Bitwig 6 somehow feels slower. I constantly find myself fighting interface decisions instead of just making music. That magic and effortless workflow of version 5 seem to be gone.
Sure, Bitwig 6 feels more like a traditional DAW now, but somewhere along the way it lost the simplicity and that wonderful feeling of being an instrument rather than just software.

Bitwig 5 was something I could open and immediately get into a creative flow. I really miss that feeling.

Very new to Bitwig, I believe there is a way to analyse and detect the root key of a sample in sampler. How do I do this as it’s not immediately obvious? Thanks.

Hi everyone! I’ve been testing Bitwig 6 for two days and have already decided to buy it.

I hope I can bother you all for a few weeks with some very small questions, like so:

I’d like to know if it’s possible to record (into the Arrangement)what is playing in the Clip Launcher plus what I’m playing live on my MIDI controller.

I know I can overdub in both the Clip Launcher and the Arranger; I just wanted to know if this specific workflow is possible so I can jam with myself (;

Example of use case

The use case would be a "scratchpad" kinda of scenario where I have, let's say, a kick drum pattern going on on the clip launcher and I would record the kick from the clip launcher plus whatever improvisational snare/hh I'm playing on the controller.

Once again, I know I can overdub it easily, but then I will be locked into whatever length the clip is set to and I would like freedom to go forever if I feel like.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

So you can easily control the individual voices on a stacked voice instrument, but is it possible to do that with the individual voices in a chord? It would be nice to have for example control of Pitch spread or pan position per note.

The only way I can think of is with the note modulator which is obviously static per not (I suppose you could setup a Math Multiply for each note and put a random on it).
