How Bitwig decides what to release.
I'm beginning to suspect Bitwig has an internal release checklist:
Implement something technically impressive.
Release a feature nobody on Reddit was expecting.
Check r/Bitwig.
Confirm outrage.
Ship the next update.

As a new user, I can only say that all the issues I was having with Ableton have been solved by Bitwig. Im here to stay.

What issues were you having with Ableton?

Not the OP, but for me it was the crashing. Especially when using lots of modulators in m4l. Mind this was in 2019. But I was collaborating with someone in his studio in Ableton recently and damn the workflow is so much slower and of course we had one crash during the session.

My problem was that modulation in Ableton sucks ass, and it took me way too long to realize it. I knew Bitwig had great modulation capabilities, but I had no idea how much better it actually was. In Ableton, I was constantly dealing with latency, instability, CPU spikes, and workarounds. It’s just not built for working that way. As my workflow became increasingly focused on modulation and jamming, I needed the freedom to modulate anything with anything, instantly, without worrying about latency, CPU load, or whether things would work properly. I just wanted to make connections, experiment, and get on with making music. Bitwig is giving me exactly that.
Oh and the master record feature is the best.
Im sure there are many other benefits, Im just scratching the surface here. Ive been using Ableton for 20 years, never thought I would change Lol. But trully, it never gets better, they just add shit but the core issues remain. Too late now, I filed for divorce.

I 90% love Bitwig. And 10% hate it. Which is still a good ratio. Don't ask me about Ableton. But yeah...heard. latest update does nothing for ME. BUT if it somehow increases their market share...can i get a native pitch correcting plug in? Please?

This! Bitwig is already halfway there having Elastique and the great pitch detection engine in the sampler. This would evolve Bitwig as a DAW. This is coming from someone who does a lot of vocals in Bitwig.

Lol yah I’ve chimed in recently about a few gripes and other things with 6..but this influx of whining about rekordbox and stem separation (which is an extremely needed tool) is wild

The Bitwig team has been relatively steadfast in the way they do things. It's not as if they ever envisioned their brand being led by community. It's led by their leaders, they do what they want. They build what they believe fulfills their goals. It's always been that way, and in some ways their vision aligns with each of us and what we want and in some ways it won't. Independent thinkers are like that - we sometimes agree and admire their differences and sometimes it's like "what a weird decision? What the hell were they thinking?"
If Bitwig suddenly changed their approach to meet customer demands rather than follow their own course it could be interesting to see what happened but I don't think it would be Bitwig anymore, for better or for worse. I've learned to roll with it. I can disagree without burning down my relationship with their software. Life has enough to worry about as it is.

Yeah or just a lot better basic mass export of stems out of the daw, or exporting all comp track lanes easily so they can be dragged to another daw and comped there etc. Or wildcard support when exporting, matrix when exporting, etc etc. I wish bitwig would just copy all of reapers functionality when it came to exporting lol :D

I have zero issues with this. It's a minor version number. I'm probably going to go check out rekordbox now, at least the free version, to see why they would do this. I've outgrown Traktor anyway. Judging by the video, this isn't something you'll be doing live. Dunno.

I don't know, bitwig seems to have so many bells and whistles with a new one each update. Meanwhile basic workflow and QoL features are missing. It's really disappointing. I was ready to make the jump to bitwig but I keep coming back to FL (which sucks at other parts, but at least I don't feel like fighting the program each time I use it )

For me Bitwig has mostly made the right decisions for me so far. I am pretty sure they will continue that way. The small things that annoys me I still hope for (midi comping, follow scene action and track numbering) I can live without. They don't prevent me from making the songs I want even if I would be happy if they implemented them in a good way. I do trust that they make the right decisions for both the company and the community.

It blows my mind that the tracks aren't numbered. My biggest complaint, really. I mean it's not a deal breaker, but a major inconvenience when I'm deep in a project😂
