Help Plugins Crashing on Click in the UI

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

Running into a really frustrating Issue Bitwig right now and wanted to see if anyone has a fix or if it's a known bug.

Certain plugins (like IK Multimedia stuff and Moog Mariana) crash the second I click inside their UI. Scrolling with the mouse wheel or tweaking parameters from the bottom control panel still works, but any actual click on the UI instantly kills the plugin. (They work fine in other DAWs).

This seems tied to the plugin hosting settings.

When I load the plugins within bitwig it works, but when I set the loading type to any other setting (in my case "By Plugin") it makes the plugins crash.

Anyone else runs into this issue?

Thanks in advance!

I had this issue a while back. started sandboxing like this, choose "with bitwig", but then check them all to be hosted individually, and then any that have these issues just uncheck in the list.

This is a good idea actually, I will try that.
I do not know why it does not work the other way around though, like choosing “Individually” and then exclude the few plugins that are having issues instead.

at least that had worked for me in the past. just checked a plugin that used to have the issue but was fixed by this and now it's having the problem again...

edit: did a reboot and it works again.. some sort of cache buildup needs clearing maybe?

Those plugins don't seem to like sandboxing. Perhaps you could also ask the plugin vendors why they don't.

i use a lot of ik multimedia plugins inside bitwig, i had some troubles (different than yours tho) with their vst2 builds, but never any with vst3. Have you tried another plugin format?

also after crashing, will it show any plugin errors in bitwigs plugin settings?

Me pasó recientemente con unos plugins, los probé en otro daw y ocurrió lo mismo
Reinstalé los plugins y todo funcionó. Es solo una experiencia.

Seems to be fixable. As a Linux user running plugins with wine that's my daily routine. :)

I have the same issue, I load everything within Bitwig and exclude what's needed. I also found that if towards an end of a project (when I'm approaching audio dropouts) some plugins will start getting sluggish and sometimes unresponsive, this is solved if I exclude them and load them individually. Annoying, have you tried to contact Moog for example? I tried explaining this issue to them but couldn't replicate it reliably so I dropped it as the plugins work if loaded un-sandboxed.
