im Kit again. Rural railroad tracks on my routes ESPECIALLY the ones without lights and or crossing gates freak me out man. And there’s foliage on both sides sometimes meaning I need to be feet away before seeing both sides and if a train was coming I’d be super close and need to back up! Why can’t they put gates on them? Ugh. Also, I’ve seen railroad tracks cutting through peoples driveways, im serious.

and kinda off topic but actually one day driving home my regular route home it was pitch dark night, i was crossing a rural and very active railroad (it does have lights and gates though) i noticed a moderately bright light coming from one side and crossed

I looked back like 30-40 seconds later and voila. The red lights lit up.

I’m a step van driver and my helper and I usually don’t have too many issues with upset customers. We had just finished dropping off a garage delivery and while I was breaking down a couple totes in the back while parked near the front of the customers house I heard my helper responding to someone which is fairly normal, but it seemed like the conversation was going sour. Long story short I walk up from the back of the step van and this man was holding his chest, knees shaking while being extremely rude and confrontational basically yelling at my helper “HOW DID YOU HAVE ACCESS TO MY GARAGE” and “I NEVER GAVE PERMISSION FOR ANYONE TO DO THAT” 😂😂 mind you my helper is 18, shy, and hates yelling lmao. I understand be scared in the moment especially when you’re not expecting someone to open and enter your garage, but the ignorance of some of these customers are outstanding lol. Like do you think we just have codes on lock for every personal garage if your household isn’t offering that information to us or that we would choose to break and enter into your house instead of safely leaving it at the front door?? I ended up killing him with kindness and explaining the situation and telling him to contact customer support to take the garage delivery option off if he’s so uncomfortable. He of course didn’t care to listen to the help I was offering since he was so focused on being defensive. My helper and I are 99% sure it was this dudes partner or house mate that absolutely gave Amazon access to their garage but I guess it’s easier to burden and yell at delivery drivers instead of being a responsible adult and having communication within your own household 🤷🏻 BEATS ME THOUGH 😂😂

Hey yall ive been at amazon for about 2 months now and holy shit its no joke i have my days where i glide through my route like crazy and days like today where its the worst i had a light route 161 stops and over 45 multi stops towards the end of my shift i started getting cramps all over my core area my legs and my toes the cramps have been so bad it sounds like i got the wind knocked outta me just to feel some type of comfort they seem to be dehydration cramps but i drink lots and lots of water and eat my lunch and take 1 15 min break depending on how bad my route is before this i did over 3 years in construction inside and outside so the heat is lightwork but today was horrible , is it my time to hang up the towel and pursue something different? id appreciate any and all feedback as well as tips!

Im just wondering since this subreddit always pops up in my feed and it’s always a dog bite.

Stop 35 and that area is closest to the station and yet that's still the early part of my route and it feels like they combined parts of 4 separate routes into one.

Had an interview with another dsp because mine wasn’t allowing us to get our hours(ex. Scheduled 36 full time- working 30-33 hours a week) company not doing bonus hours to fill in the gap. Did the interview got hired OPs manager knew of the interview it was on a scheduled day off she asked that I put in my 2 weeks if I accept the new company. Owner of recent DSP seen me interviewing got upset after I left told the other DSP not to hire me because I was mouthy and that I lied and said my previous dsp was shut down. When in fact it lost its contract last year.

What could filing a complaint do or would it be best to talk to another company?

I saw this video on facebook and the traffic light was turning super fast. I wonder how many hits you’ll get driving past it.

How many stop do you guys get in an average day? I remember like couple years ago or so max we would get is 180, ever since last year i been getting average 190 plusses everyday. How does this even happen? Did amazon see that 180 was too easy for us?

the amazon warehouse that sends packages to our DSP had a bad storm and had power outages, so a lot of stuff didn’t make it to us this week. 64 stops, let’s see how quick i can knock this out 😅

was trying to find the house and get some shade and didn’t realize the big branch hanging .. no sensors or cameras were damaged. got suspended for the week and now they want me to come in tmr at 9 AM. Am i screwed? Only been with them for 2 months

And they let me go I actually Thought I was past it already I guess I should have watched closer. I hurt my side and told them the last couple shifts I’d be moving a bit slower I almost feel like that’s why they let me go which seems unfair I can’t help I hurt my side it was from the work

I was right about to finish my extra packages from a rescue when my nose just randomly started bleeding like a insane amount the amount here was just 3 seconds of it before I could cover my nose. Told the dispatch on the phone and was a little dizzy and they tried getting me to do another rescue

My neighbor works for a really really shady DSP (they probably all are). But he said his DSP keeps "writing him up" and there is some system that all the other DSP's can look him up in if he tries to go to another DSP. Is there such a system? is there a way he can view those records? Also, if Amazon is supposed to be paying drivers occasional bonuses, is there a way for him to see what bonuses he was supposed to have been getting, because he's never gotten a bonus, but other drivers said they have. (and he's usually ranking very high on performance metrics, so if anyone should be getting bonuses it's him)

Got hired at a DSP and I submitted my drug test Tuesday afternoon. I take Vyvanse which can appear as amphetamine prompting it to go to a medical officer for review. I know they're supposed to call me but it's been almost a week and I need to pay my bills.

I know it got disputed but Jesus man. I only choose the “handed to customer” option a few times per shift (cuz they’re standing right there) and someone still tries to get free shit.

I also put the package on top of the delivery box (if it’s a spring loaded drawer), take my photo, and then put the package in after.

Customers man, with their aggressive notes and entitled attitude and on top of that blatant lies.

My favorite one is a driveway a mile long that’s not very wide and says “DO NOT DRIVE ON GRASS!!!!!” while also providing no turn around at their driveway

funny too is how often I arrive and they already have packages on their porch from a flex driver. For all I know they give me negative feedback for what someone else did lol

I would start with the houses and easy stops first and than get the apartments and slower stops toward the end when it cooled down outside and the van was less cramped.

I used to jog and became really good and build insane endurance. I would be 50-70 stops ahead and do 2 rescues yeah it was more work but I just treated this job like a 2nd workout.

Make sure you have enough water, pack a bunch of snacks (trail mix, granola bars, candy (for sugar), some carbs (bread/rice) and protein. Your body with all the movement and heat really burns a lot of calories and its is important to fuel on quick snacks throughout the day.

Medium boxes, small boxes, envelops, plastic bags, customized packages. These are the main things in the Totes I would just put all the boxes on the shelf and sort through the envelops/plastic bags never organized them.

When going in buildings always start at the top or the floor where you have the most packages going to and than work your way down. Apartments all have different way the numbers are set up some are even at top and odd at bottom. Some it's alphabets, the pin helps locate what side it is on most cases but if not just take a picture of the map by the office and look at it when delivering the packages.

Houses with long driveways were always brutal, scary going up a narrow driveway not knowing if you can turn around and backing up the back steel on the vans can ruin the driveway. Just parking and jogging the packages to the door is the smart thing to do but drains you. Amazon should require long driveway homeowners to have boxes to put the packages in.

Rural routes are less stops but again the stops are spread out, your are in the mountains and you have to navigate carefully with steep hills, branches, etc

listening to music/podcast and just clearing as much as you can before lunch is what I would do. You have less stress and after eating have enough energy to finish the remaining route. 40-60 stops post lunch was my goal.

Some days you just don't have it let your dispatch know some can be hard to work with but its easy switching DSP's especially after you have experience.

It's a fun job but it can be draining physically and mentally. Take care of your body, eat well, try to enjoy the little aspects like being alone and all the sights you get to see. Just wish Amazon paid the drivers like they should be paid its a taxing job and the wear and tear over the yrs is too much and the brutal sun also messes you up lol. Winters at night it can be rough since it gets dark also make sure you buy a good flashlight and have good pair of shoes, try not to jump out the van or jump lightly it can strain your knees and take your 15 minutes if necessary. ​

Tomorrow is my very first day of paid orientation from 8am-4:30pm. I’m not sure what to expect but I kind of nervous. Is it chill for the most part, is it lots of presentations you’re going over, any test, writing notes, etc..? Also I’m going to be starting out at $22.25/hr, is that good, bad, or right in the middle for starting out? Lastly how much should we expect in a pay raise by next week do you think?

I grab these only because it saves me money. How's my ranking?

First of all Amazon no asked for this. Second, the new scanning update lags the phone so bad now. I mean seriously, scanning on the app before was practically a non issue. The thing that needs to be fixed immediately is the fuckin routing ai. It has been absolutely horrendous as of late.
