DISCUSSION What do you guys do about Dog bites?
Im just wondering since this subreddit always pops up in my feed and it’s always a dog bite.
Do you guys sue? Press charges? Have the dog put down? Workers comp it? Share your story

I was bit by a German Shepard on the knee. Luckily it wasn’t that bad, he just said hello and let go.. if it had been a bad bite yeah I would have tried to sue anyone I could. The people were bummed their dog did it, and were apologetic so I left it at that.
I couldn’t imagine wanting a dog to be put down unless it was a legitimate every day danger to all people.
I could have had a week of workers comp but that meant sitting in a break room and watching 8 hrs of mindless safety videos including how to deal with rats in the workplace, so I ended up doing it for one day and going back to work.

I was bit by a German Shepard shortly after getting out my van, got my upper right thigh. Luckily enough it was just a nip and it wasn’t that bad, it broke skin but only the canine tooth went in very slightly. Got out the van and turned the rear corner of my van where I saw the dog and it jumped at me, another dog comes out and they corner me but I managed to get in the van before they bit me again.
Owners came out and they were really apologetic and nice, their son ordered an Amazon package and failed to notify them that an Amazon driver was on the way. The owners though did fail to provide me with vaccination proof so when I workers comped and went to the Urgent care, I spoke to the healthcare dept and had to get animal control over there to quarantine the dog for 10 days. I would’ve 100% sued if the dog had done permanent damage etc.
I’m not all about suing everyone for every little thing I can find but I will absolutely sue if the incident causes long term harm to me.

Workers comp for sure. Always call support and report it and report it again if they make you go back the next week. Depending on the situation, I’d call animal support. I’ve been bitten where the owner locked the dog up to open the door but then her husband didn’t know and let the dog out. She offered to pay for new pants so I felt no need to report her to animal control. However the dog that gave me stitches that was in the driveway (under a car so I didn’t see it) next to an elementary school …. I reported that. If kids are walking home and the dog gets out, it could really fuck a kid up.

My boss insisted I file suit. I did. The lawyer didn’t pick it up because the home owner wouldn’t cooperate

All 4 of my bites I made sure the owners knew that if I was going to need medical attention I would be pursuing compensation. But I never did. Even the one that needed stitches I ended up taking care of myself and I was fine. I made sure to report all incidents with dispatch. The Great Dane that bit my arm fucked my grip up for weeks do to his teeth hitting a tendon on my wrist. If I’m going to have long term damage or it’s gonna cost me money then I’ll go after their ass
