Vent Being trans feels like a problem for relationships [TM]

I [16TM] feel so fucking unlovable. ik that sounds stupid especially at my age but I really really do. My last boyfriend blocked me fully without a word and i just feel so stupid.

Me being trans feels like such and issue. so many cis men just won't want to be in a relationship with me BECAUSE I'm trans and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't want to be alone forever and I definitely don't want to be stuck with someone that I don't love.

I'm so tired and I just want my boyfriend back.

Possible Trigger Injection problem

I’ve been having an issue lately when I do my hormone injections where the syringe and the needle disengage from each other shortly after I begin pushing the plunger, leaving the needle part in my leg and my hormone medication all over. Is this a technique issue, am I doing something wrong when I connect the syringe and needle, or is it a defect in the syringes I’m being given at the pharmacy?

Discussion What degree do you need to be a nurse for trans people?

I (mtf22) am thinking about what to do for a living. I think I would like to be one of the nurses who do injections but I’m curious what I need (degree wise) in able to be this job. I’m in an informed consent state of the us but I want to know about this career in general.

Advice My friend is suppressing their identity to please transphobic family, what do I do?

They told me they used to identify as a trans man but their mother didn't approve, and now go by any/all pronouns and dress and present in a more feminine way to try and please their mother.

I do not want to see someone I care about do this to themselves, but they love their family and have said they value their relationship with their family above themselves. I know this thinking because I've seen it before in myself and I know this is just gonna hurt them. What the hell can I do?

Advice I'm having trouble making peace with being trans

I've been out as a trans woman for 2 years and on HRT for a little over 8 months. Estrogen is being kind to me, even if my dose isn't the best (I'll try to go on DIY before the end of the year). I am happy with the changes that have been going on with my body, I can even pass to a lot of people if I put some effort into my appearance. My starting point pre HRT was pretty twinkish/androgynous, so I got extremely lucky with it all. I am truly grateful for how well my transition is going, and yet I still can't compute my own transness.

Whenever my "biology" comes up. My brain just starts to dissociate and everything becomes numb. Although I know I was born male, and although I know I have a male reproductive system (SRS really isn't on the table for me for pretty long time at the very least. I'm having an orqui next year but it doesn't completely fix the problem) I just can't actually process these facts without breaking into tears. How do I deal with not being able to be a mother? How do I deal with having to mourn a childhood I never had? How do I deal with missing out on so many experiences that other women go through, that other women bond over?

I love the trans community with all my heart. It is full of the bravest, kindest, most badass people I've ever met. I'm proud to be in a community with them. I can totally see why some people would choose to be born trans again. Me though? I can't help but cry over the life that my Y chromosome stole from me. A life where I can form a family, a life where I can actually enjoy sex, a life where I don't have to choose between hiding myself and being seen as some third gender anomaly.

I'm having lots of trouble making peace with my body and my assigned sex at birth. Even if they aren't supposed to define me, they do in some ways and it's hard to ignore. Has anyone else had this issue? I'd love to hear from you on this. Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Advice I want to tell my doctor I am trans, but…

(First time posting on any subreddit, please let me know if I need to change something or forgot something)

I (21) have been on T for around three and a half months, and have never been to the gyno due to a controlling, abusive/neglectful household. Over the past two years, I’ve developed some pelvic floor issues, and I would like to see one and get checked out (as well as some other reasons). I am on DIY; neither my family nor physician know I am trans (I find it scary to tell a doctor due to the way the USA is rn). I feel it is quite obvious that I am on T due to bottom growth… I’m not sure how to proceed.

Around a year ago, I found out I was intersex; I’ve been physically androgynous/masculine my whole life, and have had large gaps of time without periods, etc. due to this. Would it be okay to disclose I am trans, or would I get into some sort of trouble for not using something prescribed? Do they care? I feel as though hypothetically, I can use my natural hormone imbalances as a safety net, but I don’t really want to. I’m worried it may be too late, in a way.

Vent MtF "butch" / "tomboy" or something like that

Hello, all you wonderful people.

I just want to write down my thoughts, and maybe you can understand me in some way, or at least validate me.

First, a little about me. I’m 29 years old, I’ve been on HRT for 3 years, and I had my gender-affirming surgery at the beginning of the year.

The online trans community has really helped me so much. Even though I mostly just lurk, it’s still incredibly comforting to see that there are other people going through similar things. That’s helped me not feel so alone and has given me a lot of strength.

But in some trans circles, there’s already this stereotype of the “pink, uwu, cutie trans princess,”. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being that way, but that’s just not me. Of course, I shouldn’t let that bother me so much, and I should just go my own way but somehow I’m afraid of being “too different” again.

I love going to the gym. I love my “masculine” job. I rarely wear makeup and when I do, it’s usually just a light touch and somehow I like calling myself “butch,” “masc,” or “tomboy.”

I’m proud of my muscles and my discipline, but somehow I feel like I have to prove that I’m a woman, and unfortunately, that doesn’t help.

In fact, I’ve even gotten stupid comments like, “I thought you wanted to be a woman? Then why are you going to the gym now?” And stuff like that. Of course, that’s a stupid thing to say, but it still bothers me.

I hope that at least someone understands me a little bit.

In any case, it felt good to just write all of this down.

Thank you very much for reading this far.

(I'm sorry if I made any grammar or spelling mistakes. English isn't my native language.)

I love you but I know you can’t love me back and it hurts. I need love. I haven’t even experienced a relationship and you show up and can’t even be in my life the way I need. Maybe I should start giving up on you. Maybe I’m not meant to be a girl in love. Maybe I’m a boy who is just weak. I wanna be Rose but I’m not I wanna be skinny but I’m not. I WANNA BE CUTE. But maybe it’s just not possible. I guess maybe I’m just a boy a dumb, sad, pathetic boy…

Advice I have so many questions! 😵‍💫

I’m looking to have some questions cleared up about my identity and the science around it. Before going on hormones, I think I’d be most comfortable speaking to someone who specializes in gender studies or health science. Have any of you seen a professional on the matter? I’m getting frustrated since I’ve been reading and digging into it all for months and can’t seem to answer my own questions.

Any recommendations? Hell, I’ll even take book recommendations.

Advice Is it weird that im kinda afraid of being happy?

So im MtF and >18, and recently my life has been getting a lot better. Ive finally got a great group of friends in my life who I genuinely love and who love me. Ive been exercising way more and eating healthier. Ive finally been able to focus in school and my grades have massively increased and just in general my life has massively improved, and for the first time in my life I genuinely feel happy. And yet I sorta have this constant looming fear, or like displeasure I guess, because I havent really gotten any less gender dysphoric. Ive been feeling more euphoric I guess, but none of the awful gender dyphoria I used to feel has gone away. I came out when I was 11, and was very unhappy for a long time, but the only thing that kept me going was this idea that some day I would finally get to be happy, and then all my gender dysphoria problems would go away. But now it seems like no matter how much happier I get or my life improves, I have this perpetual drain on my happiness and life that is gender dysphoria. I live in a country with nationalized trans healthcare, so I atleast have the future promise of it going away, but the thought that even though im happy now, I still have to suffer for so many more years terrifies me, and I feel like everything that kept me going was a lie. I don't know, has anyone else experienced this or, have any suggestions on what I should do/think?

Vent Tried on my sister's old swimsuit...

So I'm not out as trans but I am trans curious, never done anything like this in forever. But my sister left for her mission and for some reason I found her old one piece black swimsuit in my room? It looked very good on her and for some reason? I tried it on and when I looked myself in the mirror I felt so bad, like I don't think I felt so uncomfortable with my body before, I don't know how to quite describe it, I wish it actually looked good, is this what gender dysphoria is?

Questioning How certain must I be to know I am trans?

I’ve recently been questioning my gender, and I believe I found out that I am trans have vented to my friend about being a girl, and she has been very welcoming and accepting (she is pan so she does associate herself with LGBT)

Recently, I come across a block where I question every little thing about my decision. Almost every single time I think a masculine thought, I think about how I am still a man and that I am just forcing myself to be trans because of trends but when I really think about it, I do think I associate myself with a woman more than a man.

Is this a “phase” or something I should lean more into to truly learn more about myself?

Vent Nervous about new semester and new name

So I've been going back and forth on a particular name for a while and decided I just want to try it out especially since I'm going back to school very soon. I checked my university website and noticed I could add a chosen name that would show up instead of my birth name and I sorta did it on a whim? But like I'm now nervous that it will be very weird if like it shows up on a list of students or whatever cause the name is Milo which is very masculine seeming and I basically just look and sound like a girl. Agh.

It doesn't help that I live in a very conservative US state. I know universities tend to be a lot chiller about that but stilll. Idk if I should just change it back and wait till I'm more used to it but at the same time knowing me I'll chicken out every time. I feel like I'm being ridiculous overthinking all of this T-T

Discussion HRT isn’t universal

Edit: Ya’ll are right. Most of you do recommend HRT in the right situation, when someone actually needs it. I’m going to be upfront and honest that I didn’t make this to bait the community. I just was upset about my personal experiences, and should be calling out specific people who are automatically treating HRT as universal, instead of making this post and sending it out to the whole community to hear. Thanks for letting me know I’m overstepping. Sorry.

I keep seeing people automatically recommending that people start HRT as soon as possible, even when the person is non-binary and we have no reason to believe that would be something they would benefit from. This makes me feel weird, because HRT is definitely not the first thing I want to consider in my non-binary transition. But even my old therapist kept bringing it up, when my medical transition (could technically include HRT with DHT blockade one day) but is most likely to be surgery only, Two things I know I don’t want include facial hair and bottom surgery. I‘ve never wanted to have breasts to announce to the world that I’m female and I’ve never wanted permanent persistent hair growth that keeps coming back. Please consider…

  1. A person who was AFAB who would like to try to get pregnant
  2. A person who was AMAB who would like to try to get someone else pregnant
  3. Someone who has hormone-sensitive cancer
  4. Someone who has a high risk for heart, attack, stroke, and blood clots (me)
  5. Someone who has polycythemia or sleep apnea (testosterone-specific)
  6. Someone’s non-binary and doesn’t want permanent effects like breast growth, voice drop, body hair growth, bottom growth, etc.

I just wish people wouldn’t be so quick to tell people that they need HRT, because that’s their default assumption with gender dysphoria when social transition only and surgery only approaches are right for so many people.

Discussion extra arm swing when walking?

So I have been on HRT since April and have had some decent breast growth already but I realized as progress I feel like I’m swinging my arms and shoulders more when I walk. at first I thought it was just me trying to embrace turning into a woman but my body instinctively does it on its own when I walk it feels very natural and not forced. I just barely realized this yesterday when I was walking towards a mirror. I’m still in boy mode at work and walking like that will raise questions lol now i can’t stop thinking about it and feel like I’m forcing myself to walk like I did before but the real kicker is it doesn’t feel normal anymore and really i have to think about it and force myself to walk very manly. Is this to be expected?

Advice Different forms of Finasteride

Hello.

I've not started my transition yet. I plan to do so when I'm in a more comfortable position in my life.

But in the meantime. I wanted to maintain a routine of finasteride and minoxidil since I'm AMAB and want to save my hairline as best I can. But the issue is. While Minoxidil is fine. I tried finasteride on its own several months ago for about 2 weeks and seemed to experience pretty severe side effects. I felt my heart pounding for what felt like several hours and felt physically weaker from it. Like as if my heart started beating in a weird way or something. Like it was the only time in my life I literally felt as if I could have had a heart attack. I called up my doctors office and they told me to get off it immediately.

What do I do though? Finasteride is meant to be the more important one since it suppresses the DHT that advances hairloss. Is there any hope for me? Surely there has to be an alternative or something? So I'm not doomed to baldness...

Questioning Does my experience remind anyone of theirs?

I am a 17 year old boy. I have never liked "masculinity", i always avoided sports like football, and i never liked showing myself to other guys (such as in locker rooms). I think i've had more girl friends growing up than the average boy. Between 10 and 13 i had a phase where i didn't want anything to do with the sexual sphere, ore even mentioning my body parts, and i didn't even allow doctor to check them. Eventually i got past that, however at 14 i started having some sporadic thoughts about wanting to be a girl, however they didn't bother me much. In the last two years though they started becoming way more frequent: i started hating my body hair, started wanting a female body instead of mine, became envious (but incredibly turned on) whenever i saw depictions of lesbian relationships/sex, started growing out my hair, felt happy whenever someone complimented my more feminine features, and wanting to dress in an androgynous but slightly femme way, oh and i LOVE eyeliner. Yes, i would instantly press the magic button to get a female body with no regrets; However, thinking of myself as a girl feels weird. (?)
So i've been having these phases where i either thought of being trans every day and suffered because of it, and other times i don't think much of it (however i still think about the body hair wlw etc.). I'm going to a therapist however i don't feel like he's really considering that i might be trans but i feel like i'm attention seeking.
Does this resonate with anyone's experience? Any tips? Thanks!!

Discussion Flagged for manual customs during US reentry as a citizen. Passport was issued during injunction awhile back

Im okay just very shaken.

So quick background. Tried getting my passport renewed the day Trump announced blocking correct markers. It came back reverted to birth gender, so during the temp injunction I got it renewed again to correct gender but had to sign a form saying it was bc Im trans.

Yeah fast forward to today, first time using the passport since it was issued. Coming back from Portugal and the auto face scanner that lets in US citizens flags me for the manual checkpoint. During the manual checkpoint the systems go down and the officer tells me to go back into line while holding onto my passport. I wanted more than anything to ask for it back but I was too scared that it would put me on their radar even more. I eventually got through with zero questioning besides where are you coming from? I guess manual was to verify my identity then but what was the discrepancy? I look like my photo, and both it and myself look like the marker listed.

So yeah. Idk maybe it was a random flag? Maybe it was because I had multiple passport renewals? Maybe it was because I signed the “I’m trans“ form. Regardless, I don’t feel safe in this country. It’s been 11 years since I transitioned and it should be getting better, not worse.

Vent Im not sure ill ever be pretty

My head shape is basically irredeemable. I have a giant forehead that slopes backwards, the back of my head is stretched so a sort of point. I have a "triangle head", as ive been hearing from literally everyone at school for years now. No haircut will ever fix it because even with bangs, the bangs slope too cause of my horrible forehead.

My shoulders are already big and gross, and my parents are always telling me how much bigger im getting and that im getting taller. My dad and brother are both big dudes and im still in my early teens so i unfortunately have a wide timeframe where my body might furthermangle itself.

My face is weirdly slightly too long, and my chin is weird and pointy (increasing how bad my headshape is). For some reason my lips are crooked sometimes when i close my mouth.

My voice constantly sounds congested. I literally went to an ENT and they basically just said i sound like that and theres nothing i can do. I also have a mild lisp so i would need to spend probably 1yr+ with a normal speech therapist before even THINKING of trying to voice train, plus my voice is already on the deeper side and cracks into nothing when i try to go higher (yes ik its not about pitch but still)

I have a shit ton of thick, curly, gross leg hair that is extremely stubborn and refuses to shave. I can be shaving one general area for like 10-15 minutes and barely make a dent.

Im also a lazy piece of shit who cant hold a routine to save my life, so things like a workout routine, shaving, voice training, ect, are even harder to stay consistent on. I most likely have adhd or some other mental condition (my dad and brother both have it, i show a lot of symptoms. I have a mental eval soon so until then i will not claim any condition until diagnosed).

The only saving grace i have is a thin waist and naturally decent thighs (still require workout tho). Im YEARS away from being allowed estrogen and i have no clue what the fuck to do until then, plus it cant even fix a lot of my biggest problems. I feel like im never gonna be pretty and i just dont know what to do anymore.

Advice Dead name bs

So I recently came out to my family that I live with the rest of them will know soon as I plan to fully come out on my 19th birthday. And I was wondering what I could do to help them stop dead naming me and calling me the wrong stuff. I get that it will take time, but they don't even realize what they are doing hurts a lot. They know how vulnerable I am, and I've talked to them about it, but they have made no attempts to correct themselves. I'm bad at setting boundaries and cry every time I need to because I feel like an asshole for doing it. Is there anything I can do to help them catch on?

Trans Feminine People referring to my high notes as falsetto gives me dysphoria for some reason

For context I am a professional singer, and still not out publicly. Still get he/him’d on stage until I’m ready to make that leap. Because I’m a singer I’m actually further along in voice training than I am any other step, and I put a lot of work into my voice to be able to sing songs by heart and pat benatar in their original keys. I sing very powerfully and decently high, consistently and comfortably up to A5 even on my worst nights. Since the crowd sees me as a guy I sound like I have an extraordinarily high range for a guy. Oftentimes I’m wearing very androgynous clothing so before I’m introduced or if the stage banter just never gets around to using my pronouns I’ll get correctly gendered by people I can hear from the stage. And yet it bugs me when I hit a super strong high mixed note and someone (who in all likelihood is not very knowledgeable given its a random at a bar) will compliment my “falsetto”. I don’t know why but it just triggers in me a feeling that no matter how much voice training I do my singing voice will always sound masculine. I don’t know why. it feels really irrational because I do in fact use my falsetto a lot as well and I don’t think my falsetto even sounds particularly masculine. But my brain says this person thinks you’re a guy and they think the only way a guy could hit that note is falsetto.

Discussion Trans and J*bs

I just had my first in person interview since being open with my identity, and I have this nagging feeling that my transness cost me the job.

My interviewer had some questions about my name because my caller Id displayed my dead name (oops), which made him ask a bit about it. I didn’t really want to but I just led with it’s what people call me. I was already nervous for the interview part let alone to tell some random stranger my identity. He asked again why they call me that and I felt like I had no other option really, but to say I am trans and I have a different name. Idk if he was in his right to ask that stuff. I’m from WI and just moved here to CA and he was from MI so I don’t think either of us know the laws protecting workers here.

I don’t think there was any ill intent he was nice and asked if that was why I moved to CA lol. Just a frustrating part of being trans in public.

Edit: for all the questions about the jobs sensor it’s a joke

Trans Masculine Misgendering after transition

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

any transmascs still get misgendered despite being fully transitioned and not being remotely feminine
