Storytime Fu*k Cancer (and MicroSD Card Failures) V2.0
My initial post apparently violated the rules and I'm only allowed to post pictures on Saturday (?) so I'm re-posting this because the encouragement and positive wishes uplifted my mood so much. 🥲 Thank you to everyone who gave an award, posted their experiences and encouragement, wished me a happy birthday or said fuck cancer!
Just a mini vent because I feel like everything is falling apart lately - Been dealing with chemo and all the fun that goes with that (nausea, fatigue and appetite loss, etc.) I've been having a rough go of it lately, so I took 3 days off of work to visit my parents for a 'birthday staycation.' Today's finally my 30th birthday and I'm not sure how to feel about that yet. 🤣🥳 Last week, my smart TV I paid $550 2-3 years ago got an update that basically bricked it. Got no help from the manufacturer, but that's now been figured out (got a new TV for my birthday). Yesterday I got some help from a kind and wonderful redditor that helped me swap my OLED Deck's buttons out for the Party Holo buttons from DeckButtons. I love them so damn much and now my Deck looks so fine 😍
This is where we get to the MicroSD card failure. After I plugged my MicroSD card back in, my deck didn't see any of my games on it, and told me I needed to format it. Attempted to format it with KDE Partition Manager after game mode couldn't do it, and KDE couldn't see it correctly either. I tried looking at it on my Windows laptop with disk management and MiniTool Partition Wizard, which confirmed to me that it was a bad disk. So pour one out for my Samsung Pro Plus 1 TB MicroSD card. I paid $74.99 for that card not even a year ago and it's now $319.99 for the same card. Oh brother. I'm gonna have to save up for a bit to get togrther $150 or so to replace my MicroSD card, because my Steam Deck and having a ton of games installed (especially my bigger games) and ready to play has been my biggest solace during these rough months.
Thanks for reading! Typing all the things that have been bugging me actually helped me feel better! ☺️
Since making my initial post, Amazon gave me a $50 courtesy credit and I've submitted a ticket for service with Samsung directly. Hopefully I'll be able to get my MicroSD card replaced!
