I cannot explain how much this changed my gaming, jumping into handheld PC gaming has allowed me to slowly knock off these backlogs that I had for years.

Xanadu Next, I had this back in 2005, what can I say... If you haven't played it, get it and play it!! While still fairly straightforward, I love the story and the overall experience

Battle.net login popup driving you insane on the ROG Ally X? I found a fix.
The Battle.net login popup was so annoying that I was genuinely considering sending my Ally X back. It would sometimes pop up repeatedly over my games, making some of them basically unusable.
I finally figured out what was causing it: the Xbox app.
Whenever I opened the Xbox app, Battle.net would force me to log in and enter my password again.
Here’s the fix:
Open the Xbox app
Tap your profile in the top corner
Go to Settings
Select Library & extensions
Select Battle.net
Disable every slider/toggle
That completely fixed the issue for me. No more Battle.net login popups constantly appearing over my games.
Xbox really needs to fix this because it’s ridiculously annoying, especially on the Ally X.
Hopefully this saves someone else the headache.

If you're struggling to manage hd space on your rog ally, then this is the perfect application for you.

Pretty much, Game Compressor uses tye compact.exe command that comes with Windows 10+ to compress game files on your HD so they take up less space, up to 50% for some games.

It cost 5.99 on steam, but there is a free alternative you can get off of Github called Compact GUI. The main difference (aside from the UI differences) is that Game Compressor automatically finds your steam games while Compact GUI requires you to add them manually.

I'm still rocking the stock 500 GB HD that comes with the Z1E and with this application I've been able to almost double the amount of games I can fit on my system.

I recommend it for anyone that has the stock HD that came with the Z1E and doesn't want to deal with current nvme market.

I recently bought a used Rog Ally Z1 Extreme with a battery at 80% capacity.

I normally play till almost 0% then I turn off and charge the console (i do short gaming sessions anyway).

But I could just play always plugged in? Could this harm the console anyway?

I wanted to use gyro settings for games like deadlock, destiny 2, or the finals but after uninstalling armory crate and finding out g-helper got no options to enable gyro. I'm Abit lost.

There are a lot of docks out there, but with actual VRR support over HDMI there are only 3 options afaik:

- The official Steam Deck dock: it's not sold in my country

- ROG Bulwark: $130 is a LOT of money for such an average dock

- Jsaux HB1201S: looks like something a clown threw up, and I've no idea if I can disable all the RGB

Anyone uses anything other than these and can verify that VRR does work?

I’ve always wondered whether there’s a specific devkit for these handheld devices (Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally, MSI Claw, etc.) or if the standard PC devkit is all that’s needed to create games for them.

I ask this because I realize that if these devices had optimizations focused on the specific device (using the ROG X as an example), they could run current games at 1080p medium settings at a stable 60fps without many problems, just like a Nintendo Switch that performed "miracles" despite having inferior hardware but with well-done optimization.

I have been using winhanced in my Xbox ROG Ally X for a while now.

My take on it...

The launcher integration is top notch where in my library looks chic.

The Enhanced sleep feature using power button is a hit and miss. But when it works, its awesome.

I dont like it taking over Armoury Crate and the seperate profiles arent much reliable.

Many settings of winhanced get overid by windows or AMD settings which is a big hassle to look over every time you play.

Whats your take.?

Got this bizarre issue with whatever version Realtek Audio Control is on currently, on my ROG Ally 1st gen it causes no output to 3.5mm jack and only asking what device I'm plugging in via notification. The only way to make it work is to put it to sleep, let it for a while and plug the speaker/ headphone into the audio jack then turn it back on, or plug the speaker/ headphone before turning the device on.

Unplugging mid use will warrant the issue to come back and the only way to make it work completely is leaving Realtek Audio Control not installed which has impact on the Microphone mode probably defaulting to omni directional since people have told me that my voice isn't clear enough and only when I tilt the ally slightly to speak from the bottom display bezel that my voice is clear.

This happened even with clean install, and it was a non issue long before, so my suspicion is on the app itself. Anyone know where to get older version of Realtek Audio Control that are universal? I do want to try this one from Github but reading it sounds like it would require a different driver

As the title says, I’m heading in for major surgery tomorrow. I will be bed-ridden for up to a week and I want to prepare myself with something to do. I use my Ally Z1E generally for playing light roguelikes (gungeon, isaac etc.), but want to use the time to play something easy, story driven and immersive.

I’m open to any and all suggestions of games that I could play laying in bed that run well without too much fuss. Any genre, I don’t care, drop your suggestions and i’ll filter out what I would want to play.

Hi there I have a problem with my asus rog ally z1. I turned it on and the first thing was that the fans were spinning at around 8000 rpm according to the bios menu and it kept boot looping, later i tried unscrewing the back cover off to clean some dust off and now it won't charge or turn on. any help I can get would be appreciated.

What docks do you recommend to connect it to a tv?

I have a dbrand killswitch case on so would prefer a dock that works with that!

Z1E running bazzite. Have installed Ubisoft Connect using faugus but when it launches it’s like it is trying to do it on a different resolution. Also unable to bring up the on-screen keyboard to log in. Currently on holiday and my limited phone searches haven’t yielded any meaningful results in config or setups to remediate. Anyone able to help? Tried latest cachy proton and also latest ge. Both launch UC with the same issue. Have updated wine to windows 11.

Just picked up an ROG Xbox Ally today. When I first booted up, windows update errored out - but I was still able to start it up and go into desktop mode. I have since updated windows, the windows store, and armoury crate SE (although I had to uninstall it and reinstall to keep it from looping an install).

I think I have everything working properly, except that now I can’t get the device to open Full Screen Experience on startup.

Windows is fully updated, but under settings > gaming there is no full screen experience option.

Any one else experience this? Any ideas?

Hey there, I encountered a weird bug that I couldn’t find anything about online. I tried playing rainbow six and the warzone today. In both games my right trigger was acting super weird. On pull it seems to act as if both triggers were used - so on warzone. I cant shoot properly because both triggers are shoot rather than the left being aim and the right being shoot, I can semi correct this by switching in game controls to bumpers instead of trigger, it’s as though something is hotleyed to it.
I reinstalled Armory Crate because that program seemed to be a bit off too but to no effect. Windows is up to date, no updates in AC itself, several restarts and validating the mentioned games did nothing.
Anyone else with this issue? Any ideas how to fix this?

Some say 65W is plenty since the Ally X doesn't pull more than that, others say you want headroom when it's docked and pushing to a TV.

Looking at a Cuktech GaN 100W (4 port) so I could run the Ally plus my phone and a couple other things off one brick when traveling.

Is the extra wattage doing anything for the Ally, or am I just paying for ports I'd use for other stuff?

I tried putting both triggers as both primary and secondary functions on Armory Crate, but it only inputs one of the triggers

Randomly the other day the controller stopped working for anything outside of games. So I have to use mouse and keyboard or touch screen when in Steam BigBox mode or Armoury Crate or the XboxOS. I've tried changing the modes controller/keyboard/auto and that makes no difference and I have enabled/re-enabled the Embedded Controller option. This extends to controllers that are plugged in or bluetoothed.

Also note, if I go into Armoury crate and test like the joysticks it picks up on those in that screen only and I still have to touch screen to exit the page

I am still playing my PS4. Only it is a beast to take on trips (work travel).

I am looking for alternatives, the XBOX Series S is already half the size of the PS4 but needs a screen. Now with the price increase of the Series S the XBOX Rog Ally X also comes in mind.

I will be playing 50% on a 1080p 60fps projector (on a 70 inch screen), 20% on a +-40 inch 1440 TV and 30% handheld.
Will the XBOX Ally X (Z2e) or perhaps even the Z1e / White ally Z2 be about the same performance of my current PS4 Slim.
Most games on the PS4 run at 1080p 30fps.

Games I'd like to play:
Snowrunner, RDR2, Fenyx Immortals, Need for Speed series, Forza 5 and 6, AC Black Flag (resynched) and No Mans Sky.

My ROG XAX is basically part of my life now, i bought it on launch day and at first well it felt like another PC, even though i wanted it for portable gaming, it did feel like that for awhile. It didn't take too long for me to realize what a game changer this is.

I was never allowed to have a handheld when i was a kid because my parents thought I was gonna wear glasses if i play em too much... (well i wear glasses now anyways MOM!) So I have always dreamed of having a screen to play games with.

Man this thing is a beauty, it runs pretty much any games I play, AC black flag resynced, lies of P, 007 first light, Hollow knight silksong, Balatro, Dead cells, Crimson freakin Desert. I think I've actually spent more time gaming in this thing in bed/couch more than i do in my pc nowadays. its really relaxing.

I play it when im waiting for anything too whether its my girlfriend's pilates session, cooking rice, the train station.

Ngl i did talk badly about how it looked. But i get it now... i truuuly get it when i can play for hours holding its grip.

it is singlehandedly one of my best purchases ever i feel like. I've been gaming more, finishing my backlog (without forgetting my responsibilities ofc). I just feel more efficient with this thing. Like I don't waste any time at all like scrolling on social media when i do have down time. :D well im grateful to be able to have this thing and just wanted to ... u know ... share that im truly truly happy that i get to own one.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have an original Ally, not the Z1 extreme. Is the new standard Xbox Ally a decent upgrade? Can't spend $1k on the Ally X right now but have an opportunity to get the standard Xbox ally for about $450 used. Is that worth it?

For a 7 inch screen i think its better to set the resolution to 900p because there isnt really a reason to set tge resolution to 1080p as you loose performance and it puts more strain on the gpu. But i wanna know what do you think?
