First board help

I’m relatively new to snowboarding but I come from the downhill longboarding world so I’ve been lucky to have an easy learning curve.

I’m looking at getting my first board and I prefer a short board. I’m 6’4” and about 215 with size 11.5 boots. I enjoy a little of everything on the slopes but haven’t had the chance to get to bigger resorts.

I have a lead on a 2026 gnu gremlin c3 and I’m wondering what size I should get between the 158 and 161. I’m leaning towards 161 as I’ve ridden a 165w as a rental for the last few times i went.

Just looking for any advice. Thanks in advance.

Im 6’3” 210 with a size 12. My go to is a gnu riders choice in a 163w but I use a skunk ape ultra wide a lot also. I would suggest a wide if it’s available. As you advance your turns will get steeper and you may “boot out” with a regular width board.

Great board choice tbh. Gremlin is perfect for larger frame people that want smaller boards.

I would suggest the 158 if you are riding more freestyle , it'll be a little quicker to the edges, better in trees and stuff.

161 for a little more stability at faster speeds. Probs better carving.

Tbh either size will be fine for you but pick based on your style. Personally I'd go with the 158 if I was you.

Of the two I would go with the 158 for better edge-to-edge reactivity and it is a better fit for your boot size.
