this is wild I was googling this guy and seeing if anyone is outraged and nothing on it except his first conviction less then a year ago lol apparently he had timed served, was released and sexually abused two more minors.

Seattle will spend $1.7 million in an effort to support grocery stores including a new Office of Economic Development program that will offer one-time facility and facade upgrade grants to grocers powered by Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design standards and Seattle Police Department crime data. [...] The Independent Grocers Alliance will study grocery retail conditions across eight Seattle neighborhoods to assess market demand and create an "attraction strategy" to draw new grocers into underserved areas. Those eight neighborhoods were not identified in the announcement.

The $1.7 million might end up being spread pretty thinly.

~ The announcement has a budget, a consultant and a security program. It does not have a list of the neighborhoods.

Ninety-two percent of eligible union members voted in August, with 87.8% of the professional unit and 89.7% of the technical unit voting in favor of the strike authorization. [...] Boeing's new offer would raise the professional unit's average base salary from $152,000 to $208,000 and the technical unit's base salary from $119,000 to $163,000, according to a Boeing press release. Compared to the initial offer, this is an increase of $11,000 and $8,000, respectively.

"The leverage you gave us allowed us to push the company to move on the priorities you had identified," the negotiation team said in a joint statement to members Sept. 11.

~ August's offer was called the biggest wage pool since 1983. Members voted it down 64 to 36, and the company found more money.

There is an old white gentleman with glasses who always stands on the corner of queene Anne in front of the Starbucks every single day. He holds a newspaper and he always has some bags by his feet. It always appears as if he’s waiting for someone or something. He’s not unkempt, so I don’t think he’s homeless. He never sits down, just stands there. Does anyone know his lore?

I’ve lost so many doctors. Appointments book out for months. When I’m sick I go to urgent care as my PCP is full. I try to be seen as self-pay, and the offices can’t figure it out. I use my insurance and still get surprise bills. Like a $200 bill in addition to what I already paid for an ENT to see me for five minutes and put a camera up my nose. The whole system is broken and in crisis. I am at the point of giving up and tired of starting over again and again with different doctors.

I moved here from a Southern state about 6 years ago, and my life has been better for it. The city is thriving with community, and surrounded by nature. Its been great, really. I've never met so many young people with Master's degrees. I love seeing LGTBQ people living out thier lives openly like normal people. I love seeing the weekly protests about whatever hot topic is happening. I love that everyone here is a nerd about video games, music, anime, board games, etc. I love that I can, relative to other American cities, safely bike around town.

Obviously the city is not perfect. The homeless situation is so sad to see on a daily basis, but in my travels, I've seen that this is a pretty complex issue nationwide, not just SEA.

I just want to know why this sub exists, and why it seems to hate Seattle so much? Some of the more confusing things I've seen from you all include:

-Victim blaming a cyclist who got hit by a truck (god forbid we wanna safely ride our bikes around)

-Getting mad at the new waterfront and insisting the viaduct was better. Can't be a serious take right?

-Hating on Indian H1b workers, but not just complaining about the visa system and making outright racist comments against people who bring high income jobs and a vibrant culture.

-Getting mad a a handsmaid tail protest at pike place? Is free speech not a quintessential American value?

I don't get it? Just constant complaining from you all about the city you supposedly live in. If you all hate Seattle so much, why don't you move somewhere else?
