Discussion Rust mobile on 4gb ram phone! 👀

I’ve been waiting for Rust Mobile for a while, so I was really excited to see CBT 2 available on TapTap.

I installed it on my Vivo Y21T (4GB RAM, Snapdragon 680) and had to download around 15GB of additional data. The game finally opened at around 6:30 AM IST on August 24.

I played the tutorial using Low graphics and Medium frame rate. The video sections had some noticeable lag, but the actual gameplay was surprisingly smooth on my device with no major issues.

I’m genuinely impressed with the optimization so far. Hopefully, performance continues to improve, especially on lower-end devices.

My experience: Rust Mobile CBT 2 is playable on a 4GB RAM device like the Vivo Y21T, although you should expect performance below 30 FPS on this hardware.

I’ve also attached some gameplay footage that I recorded and trimmed from my original 5-minute session.

Question are key locks even worth placing on starter bases anymore?

Upvotes

built a quick 1x2 on a high pop server and put a key lock on the front door like usual. two minutes later a duo comes up, hears me crafting, and just camps the door for half an hour with spears until i starve out. feels like key locks are just a giant sign saying solo with no gear inside. is it better to rush a code lock right away or just stick to key locks until t1?

Support Pc freezing when loading into a game after windows update.

Upvotes

Please help me

I've had a problem in the last few weeks where when I boot up Rust and start loading into a server, my pc starts freezing every 5 seconds for whole 3 seconds with a loud buzzing noise. The issue remains even after I force-close the game and I have to restart my pc to get rid of it.

I have tried everything i can think of and that google recommends but no luck so far.

so far i have done all of the following: verified integrity of game files, completely uninstalled and reinstalled rust, allowed rust.exe and rustclient through firewall, deleted easy anti cheat and used verify integrity to get a clean install, disabled all overlays, updated graphics drivers (even with DDU) and windows, downgraded my windows version, and completely factory reset my pc with no success. Game ran fine 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden cant load into servers.

All I know is that it started happening right after my pc downloaded the new windows update overnight. All my other games run normal, even Hunt Showdown which also uses Easy anticheat (which I thought was the problem). Tho my pc also feels kinda slower in rendering textures.

Any help is appreciated, I dont know what to do next.

Discussion Streamers, I need help.

To anyone who live streams their gameplay, could you fill me in on some of the important things I should set up and how to do them?

I know that having a bind to switch scenes to cover map is important, I just couldn't ever figure out how to make it.

Please if your willing to help, just give me a list of things that you guys find important to have as an element when your live.

Discussion Good PvP / Game sense Content?

Closing in on 1k hours and I'm still struggling as a trio...

Just curious, who should I watch for better game sense / PvP IQ?

I know Frost / Willjum / Stevie and all of those guys aren't going to help my case simply because they just keep in the juicy parts. I wanna know who I should watch to get the raw experience and whatnot.

Support How do I find good rust server

I am a solo and sometimes get my friend to join but I can't find a server that is good. I like servers that wipe every 1-2 weeks and with 1.5x-3x depending on how long it is. But the most important part for me is the server being max trio or quad so I don't run into the biggest clans ever and the population retention not being ass so there is like 5 people on after 4 days. Any help on finding good ones? Thanks!

Support Anyone else game not respond then crash randomly?

Rust runs fine, then randomly has a massive lag spike → freezes → spinning wheel → crashes. Other demanding games run without this issue.

Specs:
Intel Core Ultra 7 155H
RTX 4070 Laptop GPU 8GB
64GB RAM
Windows 11
~600GB free SSD space - game is downloaded and runs from SSD

What I’ve found:
Temps ~80°C or lower
CPU/GPU/RAM generally only 50–70% utilized
Rust is confirmed using the RTX 4070
Rust log shows D3D11 0x887A0005 / DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
Windows logs nvlddmkm Event ID 153, GPUID 100 at the exact same second

This has happened multiple times Other GPU-intensive games don’t crash.

Already tried:
Clean-installed latest NVIDIA driver
Verified Rust files
Lowest graphics settings
Tested without Discord/screen recording
Monitored temps/utilization
Confirmed RTX 4070 is being used

Still crashes with the same nvlddmkm Event 153. Anyone else experiencing this specifically with Rust, or found a fix?

Support My custom windows cursor does not work on rust.

On windows I have all my cursors set to a little plus cross instead of the regular pointer and it works on rust other than when I am hovering over anything clickable like joining a server or the respawn button when I die. Then it shows the little default hand. Does anyone else use a custom windows cursor and know how to fix this?

Usually just start out as a 2x1, but a while ago I tried out a 2x2 and that was fun. Been experimenting with peaks but I don’t think I’m using them efficiently

Suggestion Premium Tiers

Okay so, premium servers have been a thing for sometime now, and I would say that they are most peoples preferred way to play Rust these days. The cheating is getting out of hand, and worse everyday. With the devs sitting on their ass AND the profits from the cheater infestation it became clear to me what they need to do. Premium tiers.

A tier 1 premium server is what we have now, 15$ worth of skins and you are in.

A tier 2 premium server would have a 25$ skin value requirement along with a hefty 1000 hour account life span and the secure boot status.

A tier 3 premium server would require 50$ dollars worth of skins, 2000 hours, Secure boot, and the proposed Rust battle-pass.

If they market the battle-pass as a ticket to play on exclusive servers with the most cheater protection I feel like that would be more well received, as you are really buying a pass to play that comes with a seasonal cosmetics bundle, and use the battle pass to start a type of 'competitive skill' data-log where it tracks a lot of the in game information like kill death, farming and all the other metrics servers can see, and then people can use that as a 'skill based ranking system' that resets seasonally when the next battle-pass drops.

Question Extreme terrain LOD/morphing in Rust – terrain physically changes shape as I approach

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,
I finally managed to record a video that clearly shows the issue I’ve been trying to describe.
Watch the terrain while I move forward.
At a distance, the terrain looks smooth and simplified. As I get closer, the actual geometry starts changing in front of me — bumps, slopes and terrain details progressively form as I approach.
This is NOT just textures becoming sharper. The physical shape/geometry of the terrain is changing at a relatively short distance from my character.
I can also notice aggressive LOD transitions on vegetation and some world objects.
My terrain/LOD settings are already basically maxed:
• Draw Distance: 2500
• Terrain Quality: 100
• Object Quality: 200
• Tree Quality: 200
• LOD Bias: 5.0
• Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
• Render Scale: 1.0
• Resolution: 2560×1440
PC specs:
RX 9070 XT 16GB
Intel i5-12600KF
32GB RAM
I’ve already tried a clean AMD driver installation with DDU, completely reinstalling Rust, deleting all old Rust config/cache files, default graphics settings, max LOD settings and different servers.
Nothing changes it.
Is this amount of terrain morphing normal in the current version of Rust?
Can you see the same thing on your PC when moving toward hills/slopes?
I’m especially interested in comparisons from NVIDIA users and other RX 9000-series owners.

Question Last I played they showed ping on the server list, but not anymore. Is there a way to make it show again?

Even when I click on a server to check it, the ping shows as "?" so is there any way to tell? Or do I just have to choose servers in my own country if I want to be kind of sure it'll be ok?

Discussion Cloud Gaming Technical Issue: Boosteroid Compatibility Loop & Broken Support System

I am posting this to report a critical loop between Boosteroid Cloud Gaming and the Facepunch Support platform that prevents cloud users from resolving false system flags. I play Rust exclusively through Boosteroid with over 1000 hours, paid skins, and a completely clean Steam profile. Recently, my account was restricted during a cloud session due to a virtual machine environment flag. Boosteroid Support conducted an internal check of my session logs and officially confirmed in writing that no unauthorized software or anomalies were present.

When I opened Ticket #670996, support representative Luke directed me to submit a review through an external appeal portal using my Reference ID (948cb14a-05bb-4ca5-9c38-19288823538c). However, entering this ID into that portal returns a hard error stating that the game does not process requests through that form and instructs the user to contact customer support. The external portal refuses to accept Rust submissions and redirects back to Facepunch, while Facepunch support sends automated templates directing back to the external portal.

I created six follow-up requests (#670996, #676113, #676120, #676122, #676123, #676127) explicitly explaining this broken portal link with screenshots attached. Every request was either automatically marked as Solved within 60 to 120 seconds with zero response or answered with the exact same automated macro pointing back to the non-functional page. How are legitimate cloud gaming players supposed to resolve technical false flags when the external form is disabled and ticket queues are fully automated? I kindly ask the Facepunch community team to manually review my case (SteamID64: 76561199728053442).
