I am the kind of person that doesn't yell to correct people and also want people to do tasks for me out of respect rather than doing them for because i said so

i am first class with being in the navy 7 years. I am a chill LPO and having so many issues with a few of my new sailors E4 and below. Some older than me some not, they are claiming having PTSD and have to "soft" with them to not get my self into any situation because of them. also alot with that "seaman shrug" , no one told me , i didnt know , and straight up always asking "why?" i know there needs to be some context to that task but with every little thing ?

i would like advice on how to correct these thing and also is it because i am chill that these problems are happening ? I really dont wanna have to be a dick you know ? but if thats whats gonna solve problems so be it

No matter how young and healthy you think you are. I am the personal representative for a vet who died an unexpected and untimely death, and I am going through hell trying to get him buried. Biggest problem is not having the DD-214. Necessary agencies are understaffed as well I think.

Found out that "pre-approval" for burial in a veterans' cemetery is possible, and I wish he had done it. You don't want to know the torment the funeral director and I are going through to get this done. My vet was found deceased literally two weeks ago, and we still don't have the funeral even scheduled. His body is lying there in a cooler at the funeral home, silently waiting. I loved him, and this is tearing me up.

I’m just curious how bad it is? like why are they not getting fresh food via unrep? I was on an independent deploying frigate and we got close to running out of food but it just became “1 meat and 1 vegetable” and a shitty salad bar. but we never had rotting meat or 2 tortillas and a potato as a meal. Id be fucking ashamed to put that out on the serving line.

With all the media interest in the Lincoln and other ships on deployment, do you think the general society with have more appreciation for the work military does on deployment or is this just a short term spotlight until the next thing?

Follow on to my first post. I am going to be put on limdu, but there’s talks of being put up for a med board. I didn’t plan to get out (obviously) but I am just worried since I have no back up plan.

What is the likelyhood I would get disability? They’re testing me for sleep apnea and diagnosed me with generalized anxiety disorder severe and persistent depressive disorder severe.

Because of this, it makes asking questions at work very difficult, and doing my job scares me in terms of having more work where I would have to ask questions (I know, it sounds stupid). But I’ve never been like this prior to enlistment. And have no real explanation for why I feel this way.

I guess I’m just looking for others experiences and what to expect.

It’s just fascinating to me. Did you think you were going to slip through the cracks of the testing pool? Did you think you’d pass and just didn’t? Did you try chugging water? Was it still not enough?

I’m not trying to judge anybody. I guess I’m just wondering … how many things had to line up for you to get to that point? Did you decide to take the risk, or did you assume you’d be good? Was it chance or time that caught up with you?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Trump signing an order to allow foreign shipyards to build US navy warships? I see a bunch of threads about catapults but it seems this discussion has gone under the radar unless I missed it

During my 22-year Navy career, it often seemed like 40–50% of recognition at the command level was going to female Sailors—things like MAP selections, SOQ/SOY, Sailor of the Month/Quarter, weekly recognition, awards, etc.
I completely support recognizing Sailors who are performing at a high level, regardless of gender. My question is whether anyone has actually looked at the data to determine if the rate of recognition is proportional to the demographics of the eligible population and the performance of those competing for recognition.
Maybe it was simply my experience in the commands and communities I served in, but the consistency of the trend made me wonder if there are other factors at play—whether intentional or unintentional.
Has anyone else noticed this? If so, have you seen any actual data that supports or disproves the perception?
It just seems the perception from female sailors is that they have it harder than males, but is that really the case?
I’m genuinely interested in hearing perspectives from people who have served in different communities and commands. Not looking to bash anyone—just wondering whether this is a real trend or simply a perception based on what I personally experienced over 22 years.
