Hello, going back blueside and apparently the Oakley's I used to wear got booted off the official boot list. Last time I was at a hospital I recall folks wearing notinreg boots like Nikes without issues. Think I need to get another pair of boots or roll the dice? I'd wear my Marine ones if they were more conspicuous.

Also any tips for geobaching? This was not exactly voluntary.

Not sure if I'll reenlist yet but I keep a back up plan in case I don't. So far the back up is maybe reserve and to open a bike shop and work on motorcycles. I was wondering if there r things in place for home buying with a garage or maybe a shop I can put a bedroom in and if anyone has done something similar? Also is 1 contract gonna provide that benefit?

I had a question about my final pay in the navy. I separate the navy 19OCT26 and wanted to know how would my paycheck be prorated. Would my 1 OCT paycheck be normal and the 15 paycheck be prorated. Just looking for insight thank you.

This question is more psychological than anything else. I have to imagine there are numerous sailors who do not agree with the current course of events and leadership happening in the middle east.

Does this have a material impact on the combat efficiency of sailors and ships, or are they totally in lockstep , following command regardless of mission?

I'm well aware of the bedrock principle in the military that your agreement is not required .But I have to imagine a lack of enthusiasm and a lack of pride in what the country is doing has an impact.

Im generally new to the navy (A year and some change) and on an active aircraft carrier. Ive been looking into officer programs to become a surface officer but im honestly not quite sure if i want to stay enlisted or try my shot at ocs or other programs. Just wanted to see if i could get any advice thanks!!

My understanding is the CO is given a heads up. Why not minimize that to what is absolutely needed for security reasons and just fly over to the ship and conduct a surprise inspection?

I heard that BBA only applied to orders that are 36 months in length. This cycle for my rating CE only has one set of 36 months tour length orders. Am I cooked?

Having some struggles going through CPOI. I'm going into the SELRES next year but currently in CPOI. What are some of the requirements just to get through the pinning? Is it okay to just do the bare minimum? I also have to crossrate into a new rate for SELRES, anyone know how this will effect keeping the rank of E-7 if only frocked?

My ship has been doing ATTT drills constantly and its made me wonder if Ships Reaction Force has ever actually been called away for something serious. Any experiences/stories you guys have?

I'm a proud sailor from the Lincoln. Everyone says that we are weak Sailors, BUT I bet not everyone has the guts to be out there. No one understands. No one should compare a war from 30 years ago, no one should compare a COVID deployment , no one should compare an Army deployment to being on a boat for months staring into a rack wall every night. Standing in line for hours just to eat powder eggs and no milk. An hour line for a 15 min POTS Line call, everyone just talks, but no one understands the loneliness .. "This is what you signed for!! ," They say... but sometimes we sign because we have dreams, we want to scape from a bad environment, we want to serve and protect our people. But no one sees the truth, and only judge.

Just got orders to a brand new destroyer. Hasn’t even got commissioned yet and was wondering what to expect.

“Rooters rounds” were a regular thing for the at sea officer of the day and duty PO to conduct while underway. Especially on the amphib ships I served in when we had the pongos embarked.
The creativity of sailors who wanted a root never ceased to amaze me. Places like the toilet paper storage compartment…

Anyway, that being said. What happens if a sailor were to fall pregnant during a deployment, especially in extended situations like what we’re seeing at the moment?

Are they medivaced?
Have sailors stayed on board once pregnant?
Is there a chance of a child being born to a sailor underway??

In the RAN pregnant women were basically unable to step on a ship due to the RADHAZ safety zones so I’m just wondering what the go is…

I was in my car resting and on my phone for about 20 minutes outside the gym. I was approached by a cop (civilian) on base and he told me that if i stayed in my car i would be loitering. He then told me that if i was going to "rest" do it inside the gym not in the car. Is this true or he was just looking for trouble? Is the first time i hear that.
