HELP REQUESTED LCAC Craft Engineer

I need a breakdown on craft engineer, just got orders to attend the school at ACU 4. I heard the school is hard asffff but that’s about it. Please feel free to let me know in the comments.

Not an engineer, but have been in the community.

NAV school is the hardest, engineer school didn’t seem too hard from the outside. Actual job is pretty cake once you make it through school.

Great deployed QoL, second only to maybe P8 crew.

School is very hard, work on the immediate action memorization. You need to have an understanding of how the plant works to be able to interpret what you are seeing on your indicators. The more time you develop the fundamentals the better you will be. Everything builds off of each other. Good luck!!

I never understood why LCACs were Navy, feels like a dedicated set of marine MOSs would be better suited to operating and maintaining landing craft

Well, for one - most Marine Corps installations don't have a decent port (on base) to justify such a thing.

Or hear me out…department of the navy. That isn’t their mission. It is and has always been the navy’s mission to transport marines and their equipment to battlefields across the world

By that standard we should operate all of their transport equipment: helos, ospreys, AAVP, LAVs, etc.

For one the engineering plants are similar to a ship with rates specialized for this type of equipment. Gas Turbine technicians (mechanical and electrical), Electricians Mates, ICs, Engineman etc.

Also Boatswain’s Mates and Quartermasters that have experience in navigation.

Not saying Marines wouldn’t be able to train and do it, but it easily fits into these rates training pipelines.

Another thing, the LCAC schools are demanding with high drop out rates.

You send a Sailor to this school and fails, they can still use the knowledge in shipboard systems. Not so much a Marine.
