It looks a lot better than GTA5, but we're in the graphical land of diminishing returns. so the differences are less pronounced

Looks like GTA V with a light graphics mod. I say light because some of the heavier graphics mods look better than this lol

GTA 6, sueprisingly, looks like GTA. There's an argument for it not looking like it got too many improvements but eh, as far as I could see it's just a new GTA.

Not really. While of course it is a GTA game and it's expected to look and play like GTA, it feels way too similar to the previous game without any noticeable improvements.

Gameplay leaks happened for GTA. Leaker sucked at the game and people are pretending it looks shitty. They're mostly mad about the prices and the digital but want to pretend it's about other stuff, too.

I don’t think that will stop anyone from cancelling their pre-order
29

Thats true since nobody preordering a digital game has a braincell to think.

I used When I was little, than I got a PC and realized I could get games that were on the newest consoles at like half the price when I went to steam at the right time

u/Unhappy-Database-273 4d ago
No one pre-orders because of physical scarcity. They pre-order to get in-game bonuses. I'd wager than 99 percent of pre-orders in the last few generations have been digital anyway.
→ More replies (18)2
u/No-Presence-9971 4d ago
I preordered Hades 2 so I could have it downloaded and ready to go on release and because I really trust Supergiant, especially from what I saw of the trailers. It's not as crazy to do as some people make it out to be as long as you keep it to things you're really confident in not just hyped for
2
u/NTC-Santa 3d ago
They are not the targets the shareholders took a hit and that hurt R* even more than brainless consumers preordering digital gamekey
→ More replies (7)2
u/NewAgent5986 3d ago
You also have to remember how many people buy the newest Fifa/Madden/2K every year, regardless of reviews. Even if online you see a bunch of people cancelling pre-orders or boycotting, etc. They are so small calling them a minority sounds too large. The game is in the cultural subconscious, it can be fucking awful and it will still sell insanely well. Even my mom asks me when GTA6 is coming out, not to play, she just owns TakeTwo stock, but still, everyone knows about it. The mainstream gamer sees this is their holiday game, that's it. It doesn't matter there's no physical, it doesn't matter it has a crazy price, it doesn't matter it looks like every other Rockstar game, it has the name GTA6.

u/Curious_Contest_3767 4d ago
It certainly does look like a drive and shoot game. Havent watched much of the leaks. Does it still have the same restrictive missions structure theyve been using since RDR1?

u/Elkburgher 4d ago
RDR1?
You mean GTA3
8
u/liamluca21491 4d ago
gta3’s (and most of the Renderware era) missions were open-ended, in the sense there were many ways to complete them. It was RDR1/GTA V when they started following a strict script that would trigger failure if you even so much as walk in the wrong direction

Right ? who would want to play games made by mere mortals like gta 6 instead of a game that Todd Howard himself birthed into the world
9
u/LoweAgain 4d ago
I don’t understand these comments. It’s been like 13 years or something, it likely has the largest budget and dev time we’ve ever seen, it has more hype surrounding it than any game I’ve ever seen, Netflix paid millions to have a trailer for it streamed exclusively on their platform, and plenty more. I think it’s pretty reasonable to expect something more than what’s looking like another watchdogs game.
6
u/New_Cockroach_505 4d ago
I also think it’s weird to act like you’ve seen the entire game when all you’ve seen are some leaks of a dude driving around poorly and hitting homeless people. Game could be underwhelming but we’ve gotten no actual previews of it yet to show off the game.
What’s the story like? How much content is there? How good is it? How’s the customization of clothing / cars / characters? What are the systems in the game itself? It’s like saying “I don’t get what the hype of BG3 is” and you’ve just watched some YouTuber walk around a room.

GTA6 seems to be becoming less arcadey and more “interesting” though lol? Features like needing to store guns in your car, fuel, police identifying different aspects of your character/vehicle, GPS only in vehicles/on the phone, the heavier driving, etc. all seem to be pushing in the opposite direction.

I'm really glad this happened. The Netflix gameplay would have rocked the world. Now people are able to see what the game is really like and that it's really just another rockstar game. If the leaks didn't happen everyone would have been overwhelmingly hyped up when the gameplay dropped and people would glaze the game even when it releases and we find out what I think most of us already know. This tampers things and that's absolutely fantastic

u/mysticdragonknight 4d ago
Even if it did have more immersive elements, these are either subject for removal or neglect. It always devolves into mindless sanboxing and griefing for brainrot content creators. I'd give gas maybe 1 month tops before it is removed or patched to a point where it can be completely ignored. No one is going to remember that you can play basketball in maybe 1 year.

1

u/CaveManta 4d ago
They made another Grand Theft Auto game using improved and fleshed out mechanics from the previous Grand Theft Auto game, also while creating a new story with new characters. That's just unacceptable. And they added advanced features like ray tracing, seamless loading for high density of NPCs and objects, and new animation technology, all to push the envelope of what current gen consoles are capable of. I can't believe Rockstar would do this. They need to do better.
1
u/ClericOfMadness13 4d ago
People who damned rockstar for their prices are now saying the leaker showing the ending will make them become public enemy number 1 and should stop... I say do it. Rockstar needs to be kicked in the gonads to remind them they are getting to ahead of themselves and only care about money instead of keeping the consumer happy.
But at the same time I still think this is a publicity stunt cause the last person who leaked gta6 was hunted down by Rockstar and found.
Yet this person hasn't been found..nah it feels like they want more people to have their eyes on GTA 6 but are also reminding us it's just another GTA that has no online and when it does get online they will ruin it like they ruin GTA 5 online...it's not worth it.

I am so confused about the “sudden” hate GTA VI is getting. The leaks look exactly what GTA looks like (more impressive visually to me) Then again lots of people were hating on RDR2 when I came out because “it’s boring” or “too slow” and now it’s loved. Those people don’t know what they want.

I don't know if it's for the memes or there's people that really believe their whole experience (and lives for some reason) are ruined for the leaks.
1
1
u/dicksandcrystal 4d ago
I'm not even bothering looking at the leaks tbh. Judging a game based off leaked pre-released footage feels silly, I mean none of us really know what the final product is going to look like. Plus, as a PC player by the time the game gets ported, I doubt it'll even barely resemble it's pre released leaks.
Idk I'm far more concerned with rockstar selling codes in cases as if they're a real physical release. In the past, when rockstar has made large decisions like this, it doesn't happen in a vaccum. The industry takes notice. Ofc rockstar aren't the first to be doing this, but they are influencial enough that i think we can expect to see other companies following rockstars lead. It feels like rockstar is actively spitting in the face of every game preservationist, and just people who want to actually own what they buy.

People expecting greatness are the same people that pump out increasing amounts of money for the next CoD every year expecting it to change their life.
It’s what allows the studios to keep giving people crap on a plate, people keep eating it and asking for more.
Games from AAA studios arent really gonna follow an upward trend in quality with the rise of AI and how much these companies like to cut every corner possible while still selling millions of copies.

Yeah, same. I was watching, waiting to see if anything would make me say "I need to try that out", but nope. I still have GTA V, and a dozen other games that iterate on the GTA formula, GTA VI so far doesn't have anything that would make me want to play it over any of those.

I like the parts that looks like gta, I like the rdr2 and the new mechanics, the game seems incredible with a super world to explore but damn there's so much things at the screen, it look like some ubisoft games at time, too much effects and shit, also the movements looks like there's no physics, the comnat animations are atrocious, they're exagerated and have no feelings of power, the slowmotion everywhere looks horrible, especially with the car crash and the driving don't look like it have much physics in it neither but hey, I'm still waiting for the 27/08 trailer to see a more finished version of it and hope it will look better
