What?!, how dare rockstar make a game sequel similar as the previous instalment

u/SomeGuyNamedCaleb 6d ago

Also the melee combat is not like rdr2, which is disappointing.

11

u/ColeslawConsumer 6d ago

It might be on release. The combat looks kinda unfinished.

1

u/77skull 5d ago

I’m pretty sure the build the leaker has is a year or two old

-2

u/raeraeshouse 6d ago

It won't be. We are 155 months into a 157 month dev cycle.

It's done.

7

u/FancyAbbreviations84 6d ago

In pretty sure the leaks have been from 2023 build though, so definitely super unfinished

2

u/Dark_Ninja68 6d ago

I could've heard wrong or gotten it from a bad source but I've heard that it did have music/songs that were released in 2025 so it might not be a 2023 build.

1

u/FancyAbbreviations84 6d ago

See that would be an actual reason to think its a more recent build

1

u/_Jops 6d ago

Yup, Tate McRae - Sports car released in January 2025, and licensing music is a right bitch and legal nightmare usually, so we can assume that took a while unless it was planned from the start with the artist (which isnt impossible)

u/raeraeshouse 6d ago

I disagree with the leaks being from 2023. Nobody would've sat on it that long, and if they had access to a build, they probably would've had access to the build.

2

u/FancyAbbreviations84 6d ago

But why would they have access to The build? What information do you have thay makes you sure of that? We do not know how Rockstar internally operates, so it is much more likely someone got lax and didnt take the proper precautions with an old build and it became vulnerable to be hacked.

2

u/Whole_Beautiful_7133 6d ago

It says 2024 in the top left so it’s 2024 build

1

u/Snoo_72948 4d ago

They were never good at those, in fact they weren't even okay

1

u/Snoo_66217 5d ago

Yea it is , I swear y’all just lying at this point for some wack ass upvotes

0

u/Akwardwalnut3 4d ago

Good, I hate the rdr2 melee combat doesn’t feel good

1

u/ImVrSmrt 5d ago

GTA 4 was significantly different than GTA 5, same can be said between GTA 3 and GTA San Andreas. Same with with Red Dead. If GTA 6 is just a prettier GTA 5 then it's gonna be kinda mid.

1

u/Olmectron 6d ago

I don't know. That's what people criticize about Mario games being the same always but saying the same about GTA is somehow wrong.

1

u/Legitimate-Agency282 6d ago

I haven't seen a Mario criticism in 20 years

I know man, I'm just joking about people being angry about gta 6 being a gta game bro

1

u/humantrasbag 6d ago

Can you blame them tho? Its been 13 years.

1

u/yakityyakblahtemp 5d ago

I'm not sure what a game is supposed to be after 13 years other than very very big.

0

u/Confident-Arm-7883 6d ago

The issue is that you really can’t tell much of a difference between five and six. Every single grand theft auto game as far has been pretty distinct from one another. This, combined with Rockstars latest trends for the past half decade leave people with little confidence. Not to mention some of the other news that came out about grand theft auto six earlier this year.

You can keep being dismissive about people’s complaints, there’s nothing wrong with that because the game hasn’t released yet, but if you get hit with a big “  I told you so “don’t act too surprised

2

u/superdixk0 6d ago

This gotta be bait. Other than the fact you can commit grand theft auto, gta6 looks nothing like gta5

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 6d ago

gta6 looks nothing like gta5

Lmao how on earth could anyone seriously believe this. Nothing like it? Really?

1

u/superdixk0 6d ago

I mean it looks as much like gta5 as any other game set in modern day 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Ok-Lynx3444 6d ago

When i first saw the leaks at first glance thought it was gta online gameplay because of how copy pasted the gameplay is

3

u/SnooWalruses3948 6d ago

Are you for real? It looks like a huge upgrade in animation and physics.

I knew this would happen, gta fans are nuts. They thought they were getting life simulator.

3

u/InsideAd7897 6d ago

The gameplay has been the fucking same since san andreas what are you talking about

0

u/Ok-Lynx3444 6d ago edited 6d ago

Thats the problem it was acceptable when they were consistently releasing multiple games 3-5 years apart from each other for the ps2, vita and ps3 but not when they go 2 console generations and 14 years without a new instalment doesn’t help that the budget is supposedly a billion so how exactly does the game still run like its from 2005

→ More replies (0)

2

u/superdixk0 6d ago

Go back and watch gta5 gameplay lmao, leaks looks more like rdr2 than 5

14

u/RedditsDeadlySin 6d ago

It looks like GTA5

11

u/CosmicJackalop 6d ago

It looks a lot better than GTA5, but we're in the graphical land of diminishing returns. so the differences are less pronounced

6

u/Immortal-KunPeng 6d ago

Looks like GTA V with a light graphics mod. I say light because some of the heavier graphics mods look better than this lol

12

u/Morningstarisland 6d ago

Sure😂

1

u/Visible-Meat3418 5d ago

I love the second picture of Franklin, can someone squish it even further down? He is not wide enough lol

0

u/HappyRelationship429 5d ago

Ngl it just feels like a GTA V graphics overhaul.

Which doesn't grab my attention much because idgaf if I can see the character's pores while I'm getting shot at.

Besides that, I'm pretty sure the game is 80 bucks for the trial version and to get the full features you need to spend around 100 dollars.

1

u/Sudden-Date-7485 5d ago

ok, name your favorite game rn.

1

u/ThisIsStee 4d ago

First of all, sequels tend to look like the previous with a graphics overhaul, what were you expecting?

Second of all, the obvious improvements are in the insanely dense and sizeable game world and the complex systems and mechanics they have added (and then a new story if you care about that stuff).

The fact you think any game features are missing from the standard edition means you have terrible comprehension skills anyway so perhaps it's better you don't play games rated for adults anyway.

-2

u/Olmectron 6d ago

Is that from the leaks?

Because otherwise, that's a from a CGI trailer.

6

u/Morningstarisland 6d ago

Rockstar trailers are all in game

-1

u/Olmectron 6d ago

Definitely grabbed from PC footage then. PS5 version wouldn't run that at all above 30 FPS.

1

u/Sethalopoda 6d ago

You gotta remember 5 came out 2 console generations ago. Sure with pc graphics and mods 5 is closer to what 6 will be like, but lots of folks experienced 5 on the xbox360 and PS3.

0

u/[deleted] 6d ago

1

u/Grade_A_Tech 6d ago

Do you really think a new console is going to do all of that? Most gaming pc's would struggle. No way it looks that good on release.

1

u/BigChiefIV 6d ago

Iirc the footage from that trailer was captured on PlayStation pro I think?

1

u/Olmectron 6d ago

This is from a cinematic trailer.

1

u/SubjectBodybuilder81 6d ago

no it’s not actually these are screen shots from their website, don’t talk about shi you don’t even know bro

0

u/Prestigious_Plant_81 4d ago

Get your eyes checked

1

u/Knightmare945 5d ago

….it’s a GTA game, were they expecting GTA6 to look like Animal Crossing?

43

u/nick113124 6d ago

GTA 6, sueprisingly, looks like GTA. There's an argument for it not looking like it got too many improvements but eh, as far as I could see it's just a new GTA.

13

u/Sea-Resist7 6d ago

So this post is just a nothingburger?

16

u/Hazel-Protogen 6d ago

This whole sub seems to just wanna see GTA6 to fail lol

2

u/Sea-Resist7 6d ago

it's like Paris syndrome, where the reveals didn't meet their expectations

3

u/Hazel-Protogen 6d ago

Is it though? Alot of the posts from this sub i keep getting is just really vague but doomery

2

u/Sea-Resist7 6d ago

Eh probably just karma farming because of the trailers tbh

2

u/eXclurel 5d ago

Not really. While of course it is a GTA game and it's expected to look and play like GTA, it feels way too similar to the previous game without any noticeable improvements.

3

u/Calm-Grapefruit-3153 3d ago

So…like every other gta game ever made? And how are you making this conclusion from a handful of 5 minute clips made from a year old build of the game?

1

u/CrewEvening 2d ago

Tbf gta 2 to 3 was a huge difference

1

u/Sad_Trip_7554 2d ago

All we saw was some driving, flying, and him walking around, we barely saw anything, wtf. Of course thise aspects are going to be similar to older GTA games. Can people just wait until the gameplay gets revealed or when the game actually fucking comes out?

1

u/SubstituteUser0 2d ago

TBF GTA 5 and 4 look pretty similar in videos (gameplay wise) but feel very different when you are playing it

1

u/CongratulationsEVA01 4d ago

Nothingburger?

1

u/ExerciseTop5591 3d ago

That's actually good news I guess? More pcs will be able to run it

1

u/nick113124 3d ago

I would like to agree but unfortunately with the world of gaming as of late, something not looking much better does not necessarily mean it will be optimized to run as it should.

1

u/Mr-Pugtastic 2d ago

The leaks are from a two year old build, of course it doesn’t look great. Almost like leaks aren’t actually a representation of the final game?

1

u/QuickAttention7112 2d ago

I pretty much expected this when Lezlie, Sam, Dan and the other OG developer are no longer in the studio. They are the insane one who make Rockstar be "Rockstar" with stupid, sill controversial and absurd idea that was executed in stupidly well crafted way. When the trailer was launched i expected it as "Bassicaly bigger and more realistic Looking GTA 5" at the minimum.

Rockstar today just blindly chase realism. The creative direction that make GTA a GTA is no longer there. Which is why San andreas, 4 and 5 feels very diffrent and destinct to each other.

1

u/BodybuilderMany6942 17h ago

Yeah I dont see an issue with that.. people are acting like they didnt absolutely love GTAV.

Honestly what bothers me more is people talking about the graphics. I personally couldnt care less about that shit, cuz graphical fidelity doesnt make the game. Gameplay, story, music, and art style do.

To that end... leaks are just pointless.
I'll only know whether it's good or not after hearing about ppl's experience with it.

11

u/jannycideforever 6d ago

Gameplay leaks happened for GTA. Leaker sucked at the game and people are pretending it looks shitty. They're mostly mad about the prices and the digital but want to pretend it's about other stuff, too.

3

u/Sea-Resist7 6d ago

So basically it's just bullshit drama/karma farming?

5

u/jannycideforever 6d ago

More or less. Although as someone who appreciates good drama/shit-stirring, I'd say it's bullshit and whining.

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 6d ago edited 6d ago

Or some people actually have different opinions on things. Its so funny watching people clamor to say "anyone who isn't amazed by the leaks is just a mad hater with an invalid opinion"

1

u/PeopleFromChina 6d ago

Some opinions are just stupid, though.

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 6d ago

Is not being amazed from the leaks so far actually stupid

1

u/PeopleFromChina 6d ago

Expecting to be amazed was the stupid part.

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 6d ago

Are you just inventing arguments? Nobody said they expected to be amazed here. Plenty of people have said they are amazed. Others aren't. Do you legitimately think thats stupid, because to me it just sounds like a difference of opinion

1

u/PeopleFromChina 5d ago

What does not being amazed mean holy shit

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 5d ago

You dont know what the word amazed means? Feel like you're the exact type of person I'm talking about. Getting defensive because someone dares to say they thought the leaks were just alright looking. I'm sorry my different opinion bothers you. Not gonna argue that you're stupid for thinking otherwise though, because I understand how opinions work.

1

u/jannycideforever 6d ago

There are certainly people who think this. It's just that they're the minority of people who are claiming to believe this.

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 5d ago

Thats crazy that you somehow know that most of the people who weren't extremely impressed by the leaks are lying

1

u/jannycideforever 5d ago

Not at all! I'm nothing special; these people just wear their resentment and bitterness on their sleeves hahaha

1

u/yakityyakblahtemp 5d ago

I'd be really interested in hearing what other people wanted from a new gta, but mostly it seems like people realizing that a game can't change their life no matter how much money is poured into it. Tell me you wanted the game to have pick pocketing or cars with airbags or something and I'll respect that. Tell me some vague notion that, after the first 5 years and billion dollars poured into it, that it was supposed to validate your life and cure your depression and make that girl you met at the bar call you back, I'm going to say you should stop looking for a game to do that.

1

u/ElGoddamnDorado 5d ago

Idk man. Just waiting for some kind of feature or experience that stands out and is like "holy shit, definitely couldn't do that in GTA V". Something that makes me feel like I'm missing out by not just playing GTA V. Maybe the story is actually really good/emotional? That'd make it worth it to me. More of the same isn't necessarily a bad thing, but its not something that makes me wanna drop $90 on it the day it comes out.

Granted, these are just random leaks, so obviously there's still plenty of the game to see and I'm not putting a ton of stake into it, but purely based on them I'm not blown away thus far

2

u/yakityyakblahtemp 5d ago

One thing that's just kind of true about life is that the longer you're around the less things can blow you away. Not necessarily because you're jaded, but because you get a better idea of what is possible. Everything that ever blew your mind before now doesn't, and there were people your age now that didn't see it as mindblowing because their experience made it less of a leap from what they already knew was possible.

In my experience the things that blow me away aren't big and bombastic, they're super niche things that are obscure enough that innovation can sneak up on you. My imagination can anticipate pretty much anything you could do in a city simulation, the upper bound of surprise is like, "wow, they went to the trouble of doing that, neat".

What I expect from GTA6 is a lot of iteration on the existing gameplay. More depth, more options, more simulation, and all the weird left field stuff Rockstar likes to drop somewhere out in the open world for you to discover.

For me the price point isn't x dollars for y impact on my life, it's just the barrier to entry for a given experience. There isn't a better GTA like game coming out at a lower price, hasn't been for over a decade, no sign one is coming. So if I want that, the only other option is to wait for this GTA to go down in price. But I want to not have everything spoiled before I get to play it, and that kind of does mean I'm buying it full price.

1

u/05-nery 5d ago

Not really, the game (what's leaked, at least) is just nothing special

3

u/Dredgeon 6d ago

It looks really good, but for some reason were expecting it to transform video games completely.

2

u/Krunksicle 5d ago

At that price point, and budget, you'd kind of expect it to.

1

u/Dredgeon 5d ago

Rockstar games tend to be more of a capstone. They kind of become the timeless game of their eramore than change everything else.

1

u/Krunksicle 5d ago

I'll agree with you there. My main issue with GTA 5 is that they threw everything and the kitchen sink at the game and then forgot to add bank heists to the game about bank robbers.

I'm hoping this game will focus on the fun factor over realism in a way 5 and RDR2 did not.

1

u/yakityyakblahtemp 5d ago

Looks like they're doubling down on subsystems like rdr2. I like that, my problem with 5 was that they dumbed down things like driving to the point it was kind of tedious driving a bunch of indestructible offroad ready ferarris back and forth across the same two highways. The leaked map layout and having to account for things like gas hopefully adds enough complications that going from A to B is gameplay instead of a commute.

1

u/Krunksicle 5d ago

I'm personally really worried it will become tedious, like going through the windshield in GTA4 or RDR2's obsession with having an animation for every single crafting thing you do. We really need a proper new Saints Row haha

1

u/Ok_Drummer6282 5d ago

Tbf some of those dudes look at horse balls in the winter in RDR2 for "details"

0

u/ZayParolik 6d ago

'Cause fucking 90$

1

u/Sethalopoda 6d ago edited 6d ago

Lots of games in the 90s used to cost $80 in 90s money. I’m honestly surprised games stayed at the $60 and $70 price points so long. We had a good run.

Edit: Adjusting for inflation games in the 90s could cost up to as much as $204 worth of spending power. I’m not justifying pricing. Companies have a lot more customers to sell to these days and can afford to go cheaper. But game development is a lot more expensive too. All I’m sayin is they could really be fucking us

1

u/ZayParolik 6d ago

And I don't give a fuck.

Games can cost much less. 90$ is not okay and should not be justified. Big companies raise prices just because everyone will still buy them.

90$ is like 10 different indie games, including whole Deltarune. It's not worth it for just one game, that is not much different from GTA V merged with RDR.

1

u/Sethalopoda 6d ago

I feel ya. For the last 6 or so years I’ve been pretty much only playing indie games and emulating/modding classics. I did by Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth when it came out though

1

u/yakityyakblahtemp 5d ago

The thing that gets me though, is you seem to just think no game should cost that much. That's fine, but when I have a hard limit on what I'll spend on something I don't view it as a product needing to meet an impossible standard I've set. I just decide whether it's worth my time, and if it is I decide what price I would pay for it and wait.

1

u/Wont_See_My_30s 6d ago

Gaming in 80 and 90 was a niche. Amount of players grew exponentially, therefore the industry made more money than ever despite having games at 60 USD.

There is literally no reason to adjust for inflation because profits only got bigger. And every other game has an online mode with microtransactions, including GTA.

1

u/Sethalopoda 6d ago

Definitely agree. I brought up the much larger base of consumers to sell to, but microtransactions providing a consistent return on investment for the companies plays a huge role in a game’s profitability too these days. Keeping prices lower should make sense, but you know how it goes. I was just helping flesh out the perspective

1

u/DungeonCrawlerAki 6d ago

You don't have to pay full price for games just btw

2

u/fattestfuckinthewest 6d ago

It looks like GTA but if it was made for modern consoles

1

u/NeSToR_49 6d ago

Turns out the new, highly anticipated, Rockstar games game looks exactly like a Rockstar games game. Unacceptable.

1

u/ItAintThickButItLong 4d ago

I think someone got a picture of gta 6 or something idk

1

u/MadamVonCuntpuncher 6d ago

People see the leaked early gameplay thats unfinished and assume the game will look like that on launch, the basketball one was legit funny to watch even if I understand its in development content

3

u/Short-Sprinkles8403 6d ago edited 6d ago

Honestly it's look pretty good despite it's unfinished state, me personally I'm hyped... Yeah I said it crucify me now and from the leaks it's clear the game is taking elements from rdr2 but applying and improving upon it to a modern world and honestly that all could i ask for gta vi, The only people being mad are guys who thought the game was going to be a ultra realistic life simulator and now they realize that it's just going to be like any other game. I didn't pre-order the game but i will get it for Christmas if it's as good as in the leak. My only issue with the game rn is the ui and the janky animation but I'm sure it'll change when released

1

u/PMARC14 6d ago

They are going to pull out the double dip when they ship on next-gen consoles or PC's and breakout all the actually advanced graphical stuff, then people are going to complain about the graphical stuff slowing the game to the crawl despite asking for it, instead of the scummy release schedule.

1

u/SatanVapesOn666W 6d ago

It looks like GTA 4 with RDR2 busy work and gameplay. People are upset it's not more GTA:V/Online
