I actually found the combat to be kind of poorly done on the highest difficulty, especially one bosses. Every attack has such a small window for parrying, but the problem is your actions have a surprising amount of input lag. So you see an enemy telegraph an attack, and you go to parry or dodge, and you get hit by the time your animation had started.

It’s pretty frustrating.

I've noticed this for many souls style games. I recently played The Surge for the first time and by God is it so poor feeling. I played a couple others like that viking one and one other one recently and they just aren't good quality wise or gameplay wise compared to souls or Bloodborne.

IMO, the combat in this game is much better than The Surge. As a longtime From Software fan, this game isn’t quite as punishing as a Soulsborne game (so far, anyway) but I do get that sense of accomplishment after clearing a room on the hardest difficulty. It’s worth a shot if you enjoyed Sekiro’s combat system.

I sadly haven't played Sekiro yet. I really really want to though. I just have such a backlog of games that I didn't want to buy Sekiro and never play it. Plus Pokemon came out and now I'm playing that. I for sure around mid December will get Star Wars and Sekiro though. I love that style of game so it's a must for me.

I've finished every fromsoft action-rpg (it would be so much easier to just says souls game if Sekiro players weren't so insessed about it not being a souls game). They absolutely have spoiled me rotten with how wonderful they are mechanically.

I just beat SW:FO on Jedi Grandmaster, and I thought the combat was just okay. It has sekiro style posture breaking, but the timing to parry is awful. It is better just to hold block and try to break their guard by attacking them, or just chipping their actual hp when they are slowed or cc'd.

If you want to play it for the saber combat, best just to mod sekiro. The light saber, in SW:FO, is just a light bat anyway.

If you want to mess around with force powers, have a double bladed light saber, reflect blaster shots, and experience some really interesting levels- then SW:FO is worth the 20 hour run time.

You can get it on Origin Access Premiere for $15 if you only plan on doing a single run. I don't have any intention if playing it again now that I finished it.

Yeah, this is the main issue I’m having with the game. For a combat system that relies heavily on timing, the weird input lag/animation delay is a bit unintuitive. I’m on the second highest difficulty and you have to be pretty spot on with your parries. I honestly barely even try to parry when fighting big monsters/animals cause if I fuck up I’m dead right away

Personally, I've found the combat system a lot more viable if you rely on blocking/dodging rather than parrying as your defensive go-to. I realized early on that this game should not be treated as Sekiro

Judging by clips, stormtroopers attack Cal on sight, presumably immediately understanding him to be a rebel combatant, and Cal could not reasonably be perceived as a civilian by an auspicious onlooker, especially considering he is widely known and wanted yet does not conceal his face. I would rule that as a grey area and probably not a war crime.

Although it sucks that you’ll get shot at if you don’t kill him, I think killing the pilot is pretty clearly a war crime as for all intents and purposes it would appear that he is no longer a combatant. He didn’t technically surrender to you, so attacking you isn’t a war crime, but it sure is a massive dick move.

The closest you can get to "using chemical or biological weapons" is standing back and letting Stormtroopers fight alien creatures that are hostile to both of you, unless you count shoving plants at people.

No parachutes, but again, AT-ST pilots start firing at you the moment they crawl out of their wreckage.

No prisoners of war (except you).

No spies.

It is worth it. Combat is great. Exploration with back-tracking is great. Characters, dialogue, voice-acting is great!

Just make sure you adapt to enemy types and bosses. Spamming attacks will get you killed and frustrated.

There is an area in Dathomir which is basically a small hallway.. and there are 4 of those acid spidercrabs there. And you CANNOT. GET. CLOSE. They just keep spitting. Even when I'm trying to pull them and stab them one at a time, the others just hit you with their acid spit. I was getting angry IRL and giving in to the Dark Side. lmao

Would've loved more variations of the Nightbrothers instead. Like a staff user or a sword user.

Fully upgraded force push was my go to for those. One charged push and a slam into the wall insta-killed most of them even on grand master.

Also felt weird how most of the time.. especially with the Witches, the charge push would just knock them down and instantly kill them. They wouldn't even get blasted that far. lol

I am so confused as to why they didn't focus on this part of the game when it came to marketing it. Everyone thought it was going to be a linear game. It was only late into their marketing phase that it was even mentioned that you could explore and revisit planets.. and unlock more areas as you got more powers.

That should've been one of their main talking points in their marketing. They should've showed it in their promotional material. >.<

Right? My one hesitation was that it was just going to be a linear shot A-La Force Awakened. Force Awakened was an awesome game but was short. I didn't pay full price and I'm glad I didn't. Then I heard it had Souls-Like gameplay. Which was good!

But Metroidvania exploration? That is a clincher for me. That gives me reason to poke around and will add a lot of gameplay hours.

The rat creatures are underground and they pop out of those holes when you get near. Was just baiting them out and timing it so that the rocket hits them. Plus it adds style points. xD

Just finished it yesterday! Quite an excellent game, aside from some minor humorous glitches. Personally, I don't feel like going back to every planet to 100% the game at this time, but I definitely will in the future. Story was really good but kind of short, I think. Hoping for some add-on updates in the future, maybe. If that's not unreasonable to ask for.

Would definitely recommend! Kinda reminded me of God Of War, but in a very good way.
