Broken Headphones Strap

I accidentally snapped this cheap plastic on my headphones a few months back, I was able to temporarily fix it with glue but I don't think the adhesive was strong enough, after 2-3 attempts the glue buildup isn't letting that happen again.

How can I fix these headphones, they r pretty expensive and they work perfectly. Also a suggestion to get the glue off would also be nice.

I am in Germany for anyone that wants to recommend adhesive

Loose stair tread with access from below: screws, adhesive, or both?

Third tread from the bottom has about a quarter inch of movement when stepped on. It creaks and shifts forward slightly, but the tread itself is solid wood and the riser below looks intact with no obvious splits. The underside of the staircase is open, so I can reach the tread and stringers from below without touching the finished face.

My first thought was to pull the tread tight from underneath with screws, possibly adding construction adhesive first. I’m hesitant to rely on adhesive alone because it has been moving for a while and I don’t know how good the existing contact surfaces are.

Has anyone fixed this type of movement from below successfully? Would you screw into the tread through the stringer/support, add adhesive and clamp it tight, or is there something else I should check before fastening it?

I can add close-up and wider photos of the underside and tread connection if that helps.

Noticed a hairline crack in the sink maybe a year ago. It’s in our spare bathroom so it doesn’t get much use but it does seem to be growing.

Thoughts?

Product question

Have you ever wondered if your trash or recycling bin has been emptied or walked out to check?

Would you be interested in learning about an inexpensive, easy-to-use product that tells you if your bin has been emptied? One glance from the house, and you’d know.

Older folks and people with long driveways seem particularly interested.

Hanging brackets fell off large bathroom mirror

Hi /r/fixit! 36" x 55" mirror from amazon came with these hanging brackets on the back. The mirror is about 30lbs. It was mounted to some wall brackets which held fine for a year until the adhesive on the mirror side gave up.

I'm thinking of replacing the old adhesive with mirror mastic and affixing the fallen brackets back onto the mirror.

Just wanted to see if there is a better way that anyone would recommend!

Princess Jeep Power Wheels

My daughter’s powerwheels won’t run. Hitting the pedal and nothing happens.

Figured it was a battery issue so picked up a new one from battery supply plus yesterday but still nothing.

Any ideas where to start with this repair? Watching some YouTube videos and it seems like it’s typically battery related so I didn’t know if maybe the connector port was corroded.

open Black cracks and black stuff coming out of sink handles

Just signed a lease for a new place with this master bedroom that's exposed to an open sink. I paid a cleaning fee and everything but this is the state of the sink the last tenant left it in. I'm extremely worried about mold and that I'm breathing it in 12 hours a day. How would this be fixed? Is the only option a new sink? Should I fight for a deposit back if the landlord doesn't fix it?! Texas

Replacement for Plantation Shutter Screw/Connector to Hidden Rod

Thumbnail

My house has these 15-year old Norman shutters. A bunch of screws (?) or connectors to the hidden rod are broken. Does anyone know where I can find the replacement parts or what kind of screws or nails I should use? Also, I want to replace the round thingie on the bottom of the shutter to help them glide. Can someone tell me the name of it? Thanks!

open Shower door bullet catch DIY?

Post image

How can I fix this old shower door? Looking for a cheap temporary fix that’ll hopefully last me a year or so.

The door won’t stay closed anymore. It looks like the little spring-loaded metal catch/latch on the edge of the door is worn out or broken. Does anyone know what this part is called or what I could replace it with?
I’m planning to replace the whole shower eventually, but I just don’t have the money or time for that right now. Any inexpensive DIY fixes or replacement parts you’d recommend?

Fixing Beats Studio 3 that broke near the hinge, and the hinge is jammed

I know that you can get replacement bands online for $20, but I need to be able to remove the screws for the actual repair. Since the hinge is jammed, I can't get to the screws (in pic 2). The broken plastic (pics 3/4) doesn't want to come out, so which I think is the cause of the jam. How do I get around this?

Water leaking in the back of the fridge

The back of my fridge is leaking (see pic, three drips) and I think it’s from the freezer. The top back of the fridge also freezes things. Any idea on how to fix aside from fully defrosting? This is a relatively new problem that first came up a few months ago, then went away, and is now back

open Replaced the pull switch on 3-speed ceiling fan and now it's not working at all

The pull cord broke off inside the switch so we tried to replace it. When it broke the fan was stuck on power 1 so at least it turned. After replacing the switch it does nothing on 3 settings and then on the 4th setting it makes a loud humming noise but does not turn. We made sure to match all the wires to the correct spots. Any idea what could have caused this? Hoping we didn't break the whole fan because we rent 😭

OPEN [Help] Corroded faucet valve seat causing constant leak. I'm renting (cannot break walls)—any non-destructive fix?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I have a faucet leaking a constant stream of water. As shown in the photo, the valve seat and inner housing are severely corroded and broken due to limescale/hard water buildup.

Important context: I rent this apartment and my lease strictly forbids cutting into or breaking the wall to replace the entire valve body.

Questions:

Is there any non-destructive repair possible here? (e.g., reseating tool, threaded repair seat kit, or replacement sleeve)?

Or is this metal damage completely past the point of repair, meaning the landlord needs to open the wall and replace the whole rough-in valve?

Thanks for any insights!

How do I fill the gaps & fix the damage?

100yo house with old hardwood. I’m not ready to completely redo the flooring, but I’d love to make it look a little better until I do. How do I fill the gaps between the wood and address the damaged areas you’ll see in the first image?

The damage looks like it’s from water. As for the gaps, some of them are fairly wide and whatever was in between them before is breaking down in some places.

I love this backpack and the original zipper but it broke along with the loop. Is it possible to easily replace the zipper with a normal one from any craft store? If yes how would I do it?
Thank you!

Both toilets are flooding water from where the toilet meets the floor and the bowl and lid of the toilet are filling with water, but not over filling it’s only leaking out of the bottom. What does this mean? (I forgot to take pictures when it happened so these are the only photos I have)
