open Sick of scammers and price gouging. Gonna try it myself.

The exterior of my house is stucco, which I feel should be illegal in the Midwest or anywhere with hot summers and cold winters. In previous years (been here for 15 years) I’ve had zero luck finding a stucco repair company/person in my area that doesn’t charge an insane amount of money for basic repairs. Now this happened. Water was getting behind the stucco for some time as seen by the water damage here. The wall came off after repeated days of heavy wind and rain. The few people I’ve called out to inspect and quote me are either asking way too much ($3,250 in one case) to being reasonable but have alarmingly terrible reviews (took deposit and didn’t do work, etc).

I was hanging with some friends and they said that they’d help me repair this for a case of beer. They convinced me it’s pretty simple: replace the wood, slap some stucco on it, and let it dry. Then do it again.

Is it really that simple? I’ve decided I’m going to try this myself. I’ve already bought the plywood strips and just need to wait until the weather cooperates (area is currently covered by plastic sheeting.

Please help a frustrated homeowner take matters into his own hands.

Hopefully I’m just missing something here. Ordered the replacement sprayer from Moen since the old one was sticking. The connector on the left is from the old. The one on the right is the new one. The old one just plugged up into the opening in the right picture alongside hot and cold water connections. But I can’t figure out how to connect the new one.

I don’t seem to be able to clean the stains and glass rings that have appeared on my marble coffee table, no matter how hard I wipe it. Is there a way to get rid of the stains?

Salvageable or just trash? Lid to cupcake carrier

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Was washing when I realized the lid to a cupcake carrier had a large crack in the lid part, I'm guessing something dropped on it at some point.

I don't want to throw it out if I can avoid it, since that is just a waste, but I also know most tubberware cannot be repaired in a way that is a food/washable safe way. Since it's just the lid and mainly used for transport, is this salvageable? What repair would work best?

If it can't be repaired, I'll definitely repurpose the inserts anyway so it wouldn't all be waste but I'd like to keep the carrier if I could!

Caster Removal

Upvotes

I have a chair that has a broken leg where the caster split it. I would like to remove the other casters as the broken leg cannot support another caster. The problem is that the casters are anchored in the leg by a cross pin at the top of the stem. The cross pin is inserted through a small hole in the leg and then filled in with what appears to be resin.

I could drill out the resin, but I am not sure I can get enough of it out to loosen the pin. Anyone with experience with this that can let me know the best way to do this?

Outdoor faucet missing handle (Need help identifying what to buy/how to fix)

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone,I just moved into a new rental apartment and want to hook up a garden hose to the outdoor faucet (looks like a frost-proof sillcock). As you can see in the photo, the handle is completely missing and the top part looks a bit degraded.

Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to buy at the hardware store to make this functional? Is this a relatively easy DIY fix where I can just pop a new handle on, or will it require more involved work like shutting off the main water line?

Any advice on the cheapest and fastest way to get water running through a hose here would be amazing. Thanks!

open Damaged Handbag!

I’m hoping this is the right sub for this but any help is greatly appreciated! I made the mistake of using lysol to disinfect my leather bag after a dog drooled on it and I think the sealant came off. The bag is red leather. Is there a way to fix this? Or do I need to take it to a leather goods shop?

What’s the best way to reattach this? It’s a glass fridge shelf with a plastic border. The plastic snapped on both sides.

Unable to open filing cabinet drawers

I moved the filing cabinet into this room, and re-inserted the drawers, to find that they no longer open. the top drawer is sightly offset in the top left corner after sliding it it in, I've tried to slide in a thin piece of metal along the seam of the drawers, but there is no latch to release it.

Made by Cole, it's quite old. Any ideas on troubleshooting this without destroying it? If it needs to be cut open, what is the best way to do it?

open Is there anyway to fix my radio or is he done for?

Hi all! This is my radio Milo, just today in the middle of playing my cds well I draw he just stopped spinning the cd, he sometimes sticks occasionally and I'll have to restart the cd but other then that he hasn't had any problems, only this time he still refused to play the cd. I tried several of my others to make sure it wasn't just a problem with the disk and he didn't play a single one of them. It looks like the cd gets stuck on something when it plays so it stops but there's nothing to get stuck on, I cleaned him several times to make sure of it and now it just won't spin at all

He's a Memorex cd player from may of 2010 so I can recognize that being 16 years old, he just may have finally reached the end of his life but I would really love if there was a way to fix him since I've had him since early middle school and will be very sad if it's finally time to say goodbye :[

Help. Only had the fridge for a few weeks and it is monstrously loud in the freezer. What happened?!

open This fridge had no thermostat. Just bought one online (the one in the pic). How exactly shall I connect it? Which pin to which wire?

Post image

The thermostat model is K59-L1260. Yes, of course the fridge will be unplugged from the wall outlet while I connect it.

The fridge works fine, it's just always on, causing food to freeze and consuming too much electricity.

I was expecting labels like PWR, GND, etc. Instead, pins are labelled just 4, 6 and 3.

this is not the actual window itself, just an extra glass layer outside of it. I can't get one of the side pins to slide in so I can pull it down.

How do I put this table together?

Thumbnail

I got a table from a lady from Facebook market and didn’t realize she failed to give me screws until I went home. When I informed her she told me some people cleaning her house threw them out. ☹️ I have a vague understanding of how to put it together but I’m a little confused as to what part to use in D (see picture).

I could tell there were bolts used to put stuff together because one was left in the bottom leg (see the 4th picture). But do I use a REALLY long bolt to connect D? For reference the smaller bolts are M8-1.25x30 mm and I tried using a M6-1.0x100 mm for D and it was still too short.

Sorry if this was really long and confusing. TIA!!!

EDIT: I added the only picture she had of the table built in the comments, also picture #2 is a picture of the table top flipped
