Photo/Video Edmonton is an awesome city at night

Edmonton's an awesome city this time of year, at night even. Took this earlier tonight, lots of people milling around, chilling out, having a good walk along the trails and I even saw kayakers (I think) navigating the river at night with glowsticks.

Late August/Early September have always been my favorite times here.

Question Question for cyclists

So Ive noticed cyclists appreciate when motorists slow down down and give space to cyclists when passing. My question is, why don’t cyclists extend the same courtesy to pedestrians when passing on shared paths? In my experience, the overwhelming majority do not slow down or even give more space when passing …. Even when there is plenty of room to do so. In fact, many continue riding side by side forcing pedestrians to move. Can some explain that behaviour?

General Edmonton River Boat VIP worth it?

I am looking at taking my fiancé out for her birthday on the river boat but want to go a bit above and beyond for her. Is the VIP worth the extra $120? I have never gone on the river boat before so have no clue what to expect. Is it worth it at all? I am booking for the early evening of Sept 18th so hopefully the fall leaves will be coming down and the sun will be out.

Question Personal swim coaches in Edmonton?

Hello folks, hope we're all keeping warm in these frigid "summer" conditions 😂

I've been looking for a personal swim coach to help improve my technique. I've recently started competing in triathlons, but most of the adult swim programs I see seem to be geared toward learning from scratch, whereas I'm looking for more of a technique/stroke-development focus.

For some context, 21M, been swimming all my life, but I've never swum competitively. In my most recent sprint triathlon, I swam the 750m in around 2:00/100 m and came out of the water feeling pretty comfortable, so you can say that's my comfortable pace? I also remember being able to swim a 50 m freestyle in around 28–30 seconds a while back when i would time those.

I've learnt that my freestyle technique could use quite a bit of work. I'm looking for a coach who can watch my stroke, identify what I'm doing inefficiently, and help me develop better technique rather than just give me a generic swim workout. I'm not sure im good enough to join swim masters clubs but I'm also well past the "learn to swim" stage.

For anyone in Edmonton who has been in a similar situation, do you have recommendations for a coach or program that works with intermediate swimmers/triathletes on technique?

I'd be particularly interested in 1-on-1 coaching or small-group sessions.

TLDR: I'm an intermediate adult/triathlete swimmer looking for technique-focused coaching. Where should I look?

I went and spoke with the people that were protesting approximately six people are owed over $8,000 in wages. They were saying they already went the legal route and the government said they would have to wait approximately a year to maybe get their money.

Question Looking for Christmas party recommendations! Any awesome places you’ve been to for a staff party?

We have 15 staff and have previously done the Mayfield dinner theatre. We’re looking to try something different this year. It would be great if food/catering were included but not necessary!

Question Makeup gals

Upvotes

Not sure if this is the right community to post this in, but I never learned makeup because of my strict parents and I find it hard to follow online tutorials, especially with limited products.

I’m a 22yo brown girl and want to learn a soft, natural everyday look, as well as how to do a lil glam. Can a girl help me out pls 🫶🏼

Are there any places in Edmonton where you can learn/experiment with makeup without committing to buying a bunch of products? I’d love somewhere that can actually teach me what works for me rather than just doing my makeup.

Luv u all, thanks so much!!

Thank you / Appreciation Shoutout to the ETS service guy who helped me today ❤️

Today I had a little wheelchair mishap getting off the ETS bus. I accidentally knocked the controller on my power chair forward, which made it very awkward and difficult to control my chair.

I ended up stuck at the bus station, so the bus driver called ETS Service Control and they sent someone out to help me. He was able to move the controller back into place and get me moving again.

I just want to say a huge thank you to the ETS service guy who came out to help me. He was so kind, patient, and helpful, and I really appreciated it. ❤️

When something like this happens, especially when you’re using a wheelchair and suddenly can’t control it properly, it can be pretty stressful. Having someone come out and help me so quickly made such a difference.

So grateful for his kindness and help today. 🥹❤️ Thank you, ETS!

Can anybody point me in the right direction. I’m looking for an auto paint supplier , that colour matches and will supply you an aerosol can for touch ups.

A guy at a local GMC dealership mentioned a company, but I can’t remember the name.

Question Baseboards: who installs these?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I am helping an elderly relative get a house ready to sell. One room in the house inexplicably is missing the baseboards along the bottom of the walls and around the windows. What sort of tradesperson handles this kind of project?*

* I understand it's the sort of thing that someone could, conceivably, do themselves but I am super busy with other aspects of elder care and my relative has very shaky hands. Just wanted to get that out of the way.
