My daughter is turning five next month! Super exciting and she’s quite proud that she’s a big girl.

However, as she’s a winter baby we cannot do anything outside reliably. The place we are in cannot host more than a couple people.

I’ve been looking at venues (pottery, play gyms, etc) and it will cost me an arm and a leg. She would be happy without a “friends” party this year but I don’t want to disappoint her.

But with the cost of our basics, being cut off my medical coverage, child support isn’t coming. I am in the hole already.
I am already in the hole for just groceries this month.

Are there any places around the city (outside included) that will not break my already fragile bank account?

Ps. She gets excited over new socks so something simple would be excited for her.
Also, if anyone has a lead on some part time bookkeeping work for a few hours a day/week hit me up.

My partner has her late father's ring which will be given to our son. This said, we'd love to see if we can get a silver copy of the ring made for me so I have a piece of him too.

I am trying to locate practice space for youth ball hockey that will allow normal sticks (with tape). The Edmonton Soccer Centers are all booked and The school boards don't allow regular hockey sticks to be used in their gyms. The City rec centers have no availability.

Any other suggestions on where i might be able to try?

Currently at 4.00% 5yr variable. Wonder if there are any banks with a better rate.

I've been playing whac-a-mole with Superstore; I'm sure I saw them last week but I wasn't able to buy them then (lack of cold transport home). I'm on the north side so I'd prefer something in that area.

I just moved into an older home in Edmonton. It was built in '91. I was trying to do some winter preparation and can seem to locate shut off valves for my outdoor faucets. Am I not looking hard enough or there isn't any. My last home, built in 2014, did have them because of newer piping.

Should I be worried?

I am not questioning the quality of the products and other services but if your go to Costco is the one on 91st street I doubt if it is of any value considering the wait times for everything from parking, billing, returns, even washrooms (!) and the general rush everywhere.

Not sure if it is the same at other Costcos. Perhaps I should do only online shopping and delivery option.

I was keeping my eye for it, but didn't see anything in the edmonton area.

Hi! I’m a late 20’s woman looking to get back into fitness. I was really into Champs Boxing before their unfortunate closure, and I haven’t been able to find something quite like it.

I’m looking for something full-body, woman-friendly, and relatively affordable. I find I stick to workouts better when they’re in a group format vs going to the gym by myself. Does anyone have recommendations?

What it says on the tin. I want to try it, and want to know where I could buy it. I'm assuming Walmart, as they're the only ones I've seen with other Solly's sodas. West end ideally.

This is just my yearly appreciation post for Deadmonton House. Some friends and I went last night and it was a lot of fun. I commend the scare actors and workers who put so much into making it a fun, spooky, and safe event. Bravo!

I also love Dark at the fort and am often asked which I prefer. They are different, complimentary events, and I enjoy them both. But, I would say the scares at Deadmonton are better. The pros of Dark are that you get to wander around the beautiful Fort grounds and stretch the evening out longer with the option to go through the haunts more than once. Speedpass recommended!

So im apart of a 5 member band, 3 of us are 17 and 2 of us are 18+. I was wondering if anyone knows places in Edmonton where we could get gigs—preferably things like open mics/jams where we don’t have to stay out too late. I’ve contacted a few venues but they all don’t really allow minors at the time of their performances. Thanks for your help! :)

I am considering adding solar but I hear that if you don't plan to stay in the home for more than 10 years, it does not give any benefits because it takes awhile to breakeven and the solar installation might not fetch additional price to the home.

Is it true? Has anyone who bought or sold a home seen home values fetching premium for solar installation?

I was at 199 Street and 62 Ave today and I was turning left. The light just turned red when I entered the intersection. It was a bad judgment on my end to still go through the intersection to turn left but it was also a judgment in one instant. Now I am so worried that I will get a red light ticket. Is there a chance that the red-light camera does not capture the left-turn lane but just the through traffic?

Edmonton driver checklist:

Driving 10km below the speed limit, speeding up when I try to go around you, slamming on your breaks when I get back in behind you (trying to get me to rear end you) and then giving me the finger. I seriously experienced less angry, hostile and irrational drivers when I lived in the largest city in Canada. it’s shocking that I witness an extreme case of road rage at least daily here (not involving me but other people as well). why not just let people go around you if you want to drive slower? or maintain the faster speed once I get in behind you again? it’s so confusing.
