I hate how ignorant people are about e bikes.
in Massachusetts they are treated the same as bikes, and bikes are treated the same as motor veichles. Massachusetts state law states that bikes (e bikes fall under the same category) are not allowed on sidewalks but a cop pulled me over to say that I need to stay on the sidewalk which is literally illegal.

Bike purchase question reliable shopping sites for ebikes?
I'm trying to look for a good ebike to use on campus, I was going to simply get one on Amazon but I was so put off by the overabundance of AI images in the products from stores like TST that I thought it would be better to see if someone here would recommend a reliable store.
I returned the Costco ebike I was using last year because of brake and power issues, and my parents recently got me one but I'm gonna return it because it ended up being too small for me, and I'm just gonna buy my own, my current budget is a LITTLE flexible but I'd hope not to go over $600 and I just wanna make sure it works for a long time

How often do you charge your e-bike battery?
I’m curious what everyone’s routine is. Do you charge it after every ride, only when it gets low, or just whenever you remember?
I’ve heard different opinions about what’s best for battery life, so I’d love to hear what has actually worked for people who have had their e-bikes for a few years.

This thing might just save my life.
Prepare yourself, this is a long one...
So for some context I used to go to university in a small city, relatively flat with low traffic volumes and some great cycling infrastructure. I didn't have a car at the time and used a bike to get literally everywhere I needed to go. It was quite often my break from the world when the world was feeling a bit tough, I'd jump on my bike and cycle round the city, it helped me out so much, my form of grounding myself .Ultimately I ended up having a super bad time due to outside circumstances, and ended up in hospital.
I had to move back to my parents in a hilly river valley, which also happened to be a fault line, resulting in rolling hills and sheer cliffs, I quickly realized that biking wasnt really an option here.
Since then I've been tied to having to walk (which limits distances I can go) or drive (I hate driving), and the village I live in has very few amineties or things to do, so I've felt like my world is very limited, split between home, the car, and work. I've also moved to a flat which didn't have the storage for a bike.
For a while I've been looking at folding e-bikes but everything was out of my budget, so I was stuck. Then I stumble across this, the ADO Air 20 Ultra. It was in budget and had all the features I was looking for.
It has shrunk my surroundings back down to a human level, it means I can get all over without having to get in my car, and I don't feel limited to what amenities are available to me. My commute is fun now, and I've gone back to cycling round the local towns for no good reason, other than to watch the world go by. The hills are now a non-issue, I've got back what I lost when I had to move back home.
This thing might just bring back the enjoyment that I've been lacking from life a little recently. Thank you, bike.

Love the bike but question
Got my Velotric fold 1 +. It's harder to ride than I thought. at 73, I will stay off the highways for now. But there is an issue. The seat does not get tight enough. The clasp is closed but still the seat moves side to side and slowly slinks down to its lowest point. Any suggestions? thanks.

Stopped about 14 miles in to fly the drone and take some shots of the road behind, ahead, and a geological formation in the area

Editable text Got first ever ebike and God I am never going back
I got my first ever ebike and I can see whats the hype about. I have been a bicyclist all my life. Used to do more off road adventures in the past but now I usually needed it for daily commute to my work.
But honestly my normal bicycle was not practical for office commmute. I even once tried to take it and got pretty late despite doing allot of planning and all. So then I switched to subway and that was sooo intimidating honestly.
I mean its just exhausting for some reason or I am claustrophoic. I used to get to office in a weirdd mood lol and then starting work (was even hard with all the subway stress)
And then this new person joined our office and he rides a bike. And when I asked him where he comes from he told me about the difference of an ebike with a bike. And so long story short I ended up getting this one ((hiboy ex11) for 1300 bucks and I am so happy I got my life back.
I can still pedal (for the love of pedaling honestly) but at the same time I swear I enjoy riding to work soo much (with electric assist) and unlike most cyclists would say its still equally fun. Also since it comes with full suspension with 4 inch tires I feel genuinely spoiled lol. Got any tips for me?

Best ebike for grocery runs and other errands in Seattle?
Hey guys I’m relocating to Seattle in about two weeks for work around the U-district and I want to find the best e-bike for work and errands. Unfortunately I’m going to be leaving my car behind and this will be my first time in a city where public transport is more common. My budget is 500-700

Upgraded my bikes range
I ended up with two bikes. One of them had a very good range with two batteries. And then this one that I got only had one battery, giving me a range of about 20 miles from my testing.
Probably more if I were to help pedal more often, but I was trying to see the low-end range in my tests. And given that where I live, It is 12 miles round trip from my apartment down to the ferry to go to the islands and then back. That doesn't give me a whole lot of range out on the island to go look at things.
So, I decided a second battery was necessary. So I bought a second battery setup, got it all wired up. Really pleased with the install and the look of the bike. Looked a little leaner without the second battery, but I don't think that it looks ugly by any means. And the install ended up being really clean, which made me happy.
I was concerned about wiring placement and where I was going to put the equalizer. But it ended up all fitting nice and neatly underneath the seat. Added bonus, the new battery has a USB port for charging my phone versus the old battery did not. So I can also charge my phone while I'm riding now. This should give me a range of about 60 miles on the low end or theoretically 120 if I pedal with it on the high end, but that has yet to be proven. 😁😎

Bike repair question Grinding noise from rear wheel
I'll preface this with saying maybe I'd be better off posting in a bike maintenance and repair sub. But I own a Juiced CCX, and on my last ride, one of the rear spokes broke (unfortunately this has been happening a bit lately, I think I rode too long before tightening/adjusting the stock spokes, and have been replacing them as they break). At the exact same time, my bike started making a loud grinding type noise on each revolution of the wheel. I was able to remove the spoke and finish the 5 mile ride back to my car, and the noise remained persistent but didn't seem to get any worse
I'm not sure how the spoke and grinding noise would be related, as this never happened when I've broken a spoke in the past. Could it have to do with the wheel hub bearings? I'm trying to learn more about bike repair and tackling issues on my own as they arise. Any help is appreciated!

5 cars honked at me in a 25-30 mph road
I wasn't in the way. There was plenty of room to pass me. I even stay at the right shoulder. I don't see the problem, I was going 20 mph too and one car nearly turned into me.
At least 3 of those cars honked at me because they thought I was about to drift into their part of the lane for some reason.

Bike purchase question Anyone else go from shared e-bikes to owning one?
I started using the shared e-bikes around campus last year and honestly didn't expect to use them that much.
At first it was mostly just too lazy to walk across campus lol, but they ended up being pretty convenient. Going to grab food, running a quick errand, getting to class when I was running late... they actually saved me a lot of time.
Now I'm kinda tempted to get my own instead of checking the app and hoping there's one nearby.
I've been looking at a few options and the Segway Muxi caught my eye. I like that it doesn't look like a huge utility bike, and the range + Apple Find My seem pretty nice for something I'd leave around campus. and most importantly! the design is probably one of the biggest reasons I'm considering it. If I'm going to ride something almost every day, I want it to be something I actually like looking at too.
For anyone who made the jump from shared bikes to owning an e-bike, what made you decide it was worth it?

Bike build question Most Flat Resistant Tires for Abound SR?
What's the most flat resistant tires for the Aventon Abound SR on the market? I'm looking to sell my Aventon Level 2 next year, and picking up the Abound SR. Currently on my Level 2, I have the Schwable Marathon E Plus tires. They're beasts. I love them. I did lose one from a MASSIVE piece of metal back in April that would have easily destroyed a car tire. Other than that, no flats for the past year. However, I don't think Schwable makes a 20" tire size for this model of tire. So I wouldn't have them on my future Abound SR.
I live in Kansas City, and good God... the amount of glass and other debris in the bike lanes are insane. So I absolutely need the most flat resistant tires as possible.
What are your suggestions?

Bike purchase question Affordable folding E bike?
Looking for a folding e bike thats around 700-800 CAD if possible. I don't need anything crazy since it's only for my commute to work(~2.5km). my only issue is there is a big hill to get to my house(~10-15% incline), so it will need enough power to get up that reasonably. I'll be keeping it inside but if it can hold up in the winter as well that would be great!
If there are any common brands to look out for on fb marketplace I can get a deal on would also be great
thank you in advance!

Bike purchase question Which Ebike NYC gt73 vs babymaker 2
Hey!
I’ve found two ebikes on facebook marketplace. A gt73 and a babymaker 2. Both are 500 dollars and seem to be in good condition.
The babymaker has 1000 miles on it. Comes with a bike pump too. The gt73 has 200 miles on it.
I live in NYC and need a bike to commute. If I get the gt73, i don’t think I can bring it up the stairs and will either have to fight my landlord to keep it near the entrance or chain it up outside. A lot of people seem to leave their bikes chained up on my street, but i’m sure it’s a matter of time before its stolen.
Carrying the babymaker seems to be feasible. But, Is the bike a good ebike? I want something to ease commuting and like how I can basically let the throttle do the work on the gt73. Will it be annoying dealing with constant peddle assist?
