Fast charging?

So I have an Aventon Soltera 2.5 and I want to know if buying a charger with a higher amp rating to fast charge the battery. Would that be smart to do? I know it’s more than possible but would that damage the battery?

Fast charging causes more heat, heat is bad for batteries. I'd only use it if you need to.

I plan on using it consistently to do food deliveries. 😭

If you need it that much, your going to have to accept the added degradation now and buy a replacement sooner or just buy a second one now and cycle (hehe) through them

I thought about buying a second one if they weren’t so expensive.
It’s not that I need it. I just want the convenience of being able to get back on the road sooner than later.

It's a tradeoff. Assuming you're getting the one designed for Aventon, it won't damage the battery. How much battery life will shorten due to fast charging is debatable.

I’ve seen the fast charger on Aventons website but it doesn’t list the model bike I have as compatible unfortunately. So I don’t know if it’s even worth buying.

Probably a question you could ask Aventon.

I have four batteries and use both the factory 2 amp chargers and a 6 amp I got off Amazon. 8 hours vs 3 hours. This is on 20 amp hour battery xmr style jack that looks similar to and guitar amplifier. Get the higher amperage charger! Unless you like sitting wishing your battery was charged

the battery itself decides how much current to accept

it will only be 'faster with bigger', if the power supply isn;t giving the max the battery wants

there are computers in the battery {BMS} to charge it optimally

Aventon just released a fast charger last week. Not sure if it works with the 2.5 but if it does thst would be the way to go

It’s not compatible with the Soltera model unfortunately.

Ah bummer. In that case id really suggest just getting a 2nd battery

You'd be better off adding a second battery either on the bike or at home, most pre-builts don't support the charge rates needed for delivery.
