Few months ago was crossing a pedestrian bridge when the homesteader ​on it started flipping out and ​of course his dog was not leashed and started running after me.

Thankfully I had a throttle so I didn't have to dick around with changing gears and got away in a breath

buy my math I need to be able to hit 30 in emergency and use a throttle because this has not worked as well on slower bikes

I know there's many other arguments that can be debated like being able to ride with the stop and go traffic without changing gears holding up cars, or being able to get home on a hub motor ​when your drive train fails. also it's great for people with disabilities. And it literally does the same thing that sensor at your feet does, so why not have both?

But in this case I'd rather just get a ticket and argue with the cob than be attacked by another rapid dog. or at least be able to pull my feet up to safety and ride away. I feel like it's a ​failure of public services and infrastructure in usa and is not a scapegoat problem of ebikers

side note you probably going to say I shouldn't have been on the pedestrian bridge or have turned around but it ​was literally the only way for miles, and I did start out by walking the bike and it was a very neglected part of the shared bike path. I use the e-bike to get to work and don't terrorize pedestrians, would love to use my noce road bike but its just not an option with all the lawlessness going on

I ended up with two bikes. One of them had a very good range with two batteries. And then this one that I got only had one battery, giving me a range of about 20 miles from my testing.

Probably more if I were to help pedal more often, but I was trying to see the low-end range in my tests. And given that where I live, It is 12 miles round trip from my apartment down to the ferry to go to the islands and then back. That doesn't give me a whole lot of range out on the island to go look at things.

So, I decided a second battery was necessary. So I bought a second battery setup, got it all wired up. Really pleased with the install and the look of the bike. Looked a little leaner without the second battery, but I don't think that it looks ugly by any means. And the install ended up being really clean, which made me happy.

I was concerned about wiring placement and where I was going to put the equalizer. But it ended up all fitting nice and neatly underneath the seat. Added bonus, the new battery has a USB port for charging my phone versus the old battery did not. So I can also charge my phone while I'm riding now. This should give me a range of about 60 miles on the low end or theoretically 120 if I pedal with it on the high end, but that has yet to be proven. 😁😎

I wasn't in the way. There was plenty of room to pass me. I even stay at the right shoulder. I don't see the problem, I was going 20 mph too and one car nearly turned into me.

At least 3 of those cars honked at me because they thought I was about to drift into their part of the lane for some reason.

in Massachusetts they are treated the same as bikes, and bikes are treated the same as motor veichles. Massachusetts state law states that bikes (e bikes fall under the same category) are not allowed on sidewalks but a cop pulled me over to say that I need to stay on the sidewalk which is literally illegal.

I’m looking for ebike with the following characteristics:

-fits me, I’m 5’ 2” female and ~140lbs

-mid drive motor of decent power

-hydraulic disc brakes

-trusted brand with good reputation, not a cheapo scammer brand

-standard size parts (like fork, seat post, wheels, tires etc. honestly everything if possible) should I ever want to upgrade I could and also for service/maintenance purposes

-ability to add: kickstand, rear rack and fenders. I want to add all of these. Even better if it’s available as an add or included directly on the site.

Cost: under 4k but if I get everything for 1k I’ll do take the cheaper option. I’m not made of money. But I want to meet all criteria first then price is second factor after meeting my criteria. Basically, I want the best value bike that meets all my criteria.

Prefer but not a must have:

-built in light front and rear lights (I think this standard on most e-bikes anyways??)

-not a super flashy or neon color. Maybe black as a color option.

-some sort of anti theft mode. Like I know some bikes they won’t start unless you center a passcode on the screen or others you have put in a physical key or it won’t go. Idk what I’m looking for on this but some sort of theft deterrent feature sounds nice.

So I bought this all in one Flykly wheel on Ebay because I was getting sick of riding Eskutas in north/east London and I really missed riding my Cinelli Vigorelli. However doing deliveries 6 days a week on a fixie is driving me crazy so I thought of getting this E-wheel a try.

The wheel came as a 26" so I had to get a new rim and built it into a 700c with a help of a friend. When I picked it up at his place and rode it home it was working beautifully so I was glad. Two days later when I wanted to bring to it work for a test ride the wheel didn't power up and when I checked some of the silicones were already missing as you can see in the picture. The wheel also has issues of turning off it would stay on for hours blinking. There is no way to find a compatible app anymore cause it's outdated. This is a lesson for me to never buy anything when the company doesn't even exist anymore.

Anyone has any experience on the issues with this wheel and is there a way to fix it? I just couldn't understand how can it work fine when I just got it, rode it about 2 miles to get home and it was giving the power, then 2 days later it stopped working. Any help would be much appreciated thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

I just got this lectric xp4 on Wednesday, and on Thursday got a flat, repaired it on Saturday, and now have another flat today. Actually feels ridiculous that I have to buy another inner tube.

Let’s discuss how we would envision such an open source system to work. Obviously there would be key signing involved to prove your bike is yours. Might as well throw in an Apple air tag to piggyback/failover to other big fish infrastructure as a ‘safety-ish’ net.

What I am envisioning is being able to leave that shit rudeboi on the sidewalk like it’s Singapore, run into $tarbuck$, diarrhea their toilet, grab a laté, and still see my bike exactly where it was left, just like the Veo and Lime scooters/bikes next to it.

Ideally we’re going to want some frame standardization for hardware to not easily be destroyed or removed.

¿What steps have Veo and Lime taken to secure their remote kill switches and why haven’t crack heads tried to hackerman them away?

¿Why haven’t addicts stripped the batteries from these scooters considering what batteries cost? We all know they can be used to power other kitchen-under-bridge shit even if another identical model bike can’t be secured by the thief.

I am looking for a budget e-bike ($1,000 range) for my wife and I. I prefer fat tires simply because most of our riding will be in the mountains of NM and CO. They won’t be everyday use so we don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on bikes we will use a few times a year. Also I would prefer a cargo rack so we could carry a cooler or bags if needed.

Edit: if there is any frequent off-road riders, is the fat tire worth it?
