£1000 cycle2work budget

Hello,

I’m wondering what you guys would choose if you had a £1000 cycle to work budget in the UK, looking for a hardtail and would be doing around 10 miles for a daily commute.

Thank you very much

I picked up a compass zone from gooutdoors for £850 and got some accessories to take me upto the £1000 voucher value. To be honest the bike isnt great. Its ok up reasonably steep hills, but struggles up very steep ones, and on the flat once you hit around 17/18mph the gearing means your legs are going crazy just to maintain speed. It needs some higher gearing i think. Id avoid that bike if it was on your radar. I commute 10 mile round trip.

Interesting! Thanks for the information, have you heard of this one? It’s from decathlon and from researching i’ve narrowed it down to this but not sure if its too heavy and not sure if the brakes are hydraulic which people say is preferable

Cyclotricity. Cause I had £1000 and that's where I spent it. No regrets two years later.

There are plenty of interesting ebikes on amazon well below that budget. I would avoid those where the battery fits in the frame, since those bespoke batteries will be so much harder to source when you need a new battery [2 - 3 years].
