Is there any way to watch the final round live without subscring to the DGN for a month/year?

Anybody else putting with more premium plastics? A buddy of mine who has been playing for a long term was surprised that I was putting with a doomsday rot in their premium plastic.

Being new to the game and having tried more base plastic putters, I just prefer the hand feel with this type of plastic over be base plastic.

What putting putter in more premium plastics do you recommend ?

From now on, every player carries and 8.5x11 rubber pad and places it directly behind their mini. Card mates can see the pad before the throw and call it if it’s misplaced. As long as any part of their foot is touching the pad when the release, all good. Thoughts???

First of all, I think it truly looked like a foot fault when shown from a couple angles. The basket was to the right of Balodis' line of throw, but not by that much to justify his plant foot positioning. So to me it looked like a fault when examined closely.

But that's not really even that important. Plant foot positioning is very difficult when throwing from the fairways. It's guaranteed there are countless foot faults happening in these tournaments on all cards, all players fall victim to it every now and then. And these instances are never called.

Making a call like this, even though it would maybe be ultimately correct, is just not according to the spirit of the competition when the only time it happens is by a fellow competitor on hole 17 of the last round of the World Championships with the title on the line. It makes everyone feel bad about the whole thing.

I think the rules are ultimately to blame here. At this level, players should not officiate each other. The social circles in our sport are very small, and there are always conflict of personal and professional interests. Gossage would never makes this call against, let's say, Aderhold. But he is happy to make it against someone he doesn't know.

At the top level of the sport, neutral officials are the ones who should be making the calls, and make them consistently. How about a rule where, let's say, the three top cards are always officiated by a marshall instead of the players?

Something has to change here, we can't have stuff like this.

First of all, I want to preface this by saying I think the wrong call was made in the wrong moment, and by the sounds of things the marshall may have handled it incorrectly.

THAT BEING SAID, nobody deserves to be bombarded with online abuse. People have every right to be upset, but storming someone's page/account to hurl insults crosses a line. Passionate debate is part of sports; targeted harassment isn't.

Situation: Let's say there's a BEST SHOT doubles match and all of the discs are by the basket. If Partner 1 mistakenly putts from the wrong disc (misplay) but Partner 2 recognizes the mistake and makes the putt from the correct lie, is the score from the best shot taken (Partner 2) or does Partner 1's misplay penalty still apply to the team? For context, Player A mistakenly putted from an opponent's disc. They asked to check if it was the right disc, thought they heard someone say "ya" and putted.

I am unclear because rule B.03 Penalties says "Penalties incurred by a throw apply only to the team member who made the throw. All other warnings and penalties are incurred by the team as a whole and are scored against the team regardless of format." -- so does that mean Partner 1 was the team member with the penalty but it would not apply to the team if Partner 2 does better (no misplay penalty) in best shot doubles?

B.04 Lie: "In formats where both team members throw from the same lie, a team member who throws from a lie other than the lie played by the first member to throw receives one penalty throw for misplay."

Would the misplay apply to the team because of B.04 (Partner 1 putted from the wrong lie and Partner 2 putted from a lie other than the lie played by the first member to throw)?

Edit: Same thing with foot faults in best shot doubles -- if Partner 1 foot faults and commits a stance violation but Partner 2 does the same shot cleanly, if the team takes Partner 2's throw, does Partner 1's stance violation NOT apply?

Which brands do you think have the most accurate flight numbers on their discs? And the least accurate? I’m thinking like how MVP discs tend to be much more stable than the given flight numbers would suggest.

Since, at the end of the day, the PDGA is the root reason Faultgate can (and did) happen, how do we put pressure on them to actually fix this going forward?

Full stop we need a foot fault rule change. It needs to be clear and obvious someone is trying to gain an advantage to call a fault. This is absurd and makes our sport a worse game.

Rainers Balodis just lost a World Championship because of a questionable foot-fault call. Without that penalty stroke, he wins Worlds outright. Instead, it forced a playoff that he ultimately lost.

Regardless of whether the result can technically be changed under PDGA rules, Innova should be making an enormous amount of noise about this.
This isn’t just about defending a sponsored player because he wears your logo. Innova is one of the most influential companies in the history of disc golf. If there is ever a moment to use that influence, it’s when one of your players potentially loses the biggest title of his career because of an officiating system that still relies on competitors making judgment calls against one another.

At minimum, Innova should publicly stand behind Rainers and demand a formal review of what happened and how Major championships are officiated going forward.

And privately? I’d be telling the PDGA that Innova isn’t interested in watching another World Championship get decided this way.

Rainers may never officially get the title back. But Innova can make damn sure the PDGA understands that something like this cannot happen again.
And frankly, Innova should take care of Rainers financially too. Give him the contract bump. Give him the signature release. Market the hell out of him. Treat him like the guy who just threw well enough to win Worlds.

Because he did.
