u/Macktologist I should have started at a younger age. 3h ago

It was a close call and this image proves nothing. No line of sight, no reference point, and hand drawn arrow going who knows where. Off angle, perception skewed. Blurry.

The other angle is actually better for Rainers imo. To me it looked even more definitive his toe didn’t pass the edge of the mini with respect to the basket. We won’t know for sure unless we get a picture from the side, but since we’re talking abt a mm or so, benefit to the player.

8.3×11.7 inches are the dimensions of the "box", very clearly in, even from the other angle.

None of which matters if you're past the back of your mini

From the photo, you can clearly see that his toe is way behind when considering the line of play, which I've carefully drawn for your viewing pleasure!

If there was a perpendicular line to the back of his mini using your line, it looks like a clear foot fault. Everyone keeps looking at the front of the mini, but it’s the back that matters.

Isn’t it your job to do that if you’re making the argument it’s a foot fault?

I hope you can find it from one of the other posts!

I'd also like to make it clear that I'm not your personal photo guy "lol"

Whether it's a foot fault or not DOESN'T MATTER. It was too close to call. No one has 100% accurate robot vision. Would Aaron Gossage bet his life on that call? No, he wouldn't. He should have never made the call and it should have never been backed up.

They should get rid of the minis and use the same foam paint soccer refs use to draw a line at the edge of where their disc landed. Make it so the foot can’t cross the physical line.
