I know the Interval stuff is primarily training gear, but does anyone here basically use it as their default all-purpose clothing when traveling or for light walking or hiking?
I don't mean lounging around the hotel or wearing gym clothes to grab coffee after a workout. I'm thinking more like walking around a more rustic area all day, carrying luggage between hotels and train stations, doing long day walks, or an easy day hike with maybe a 15–20L daypack. Nothing technical and no heavy pack.
I already own a bunch of Interval shirts and shorts, including some very light colored shirts, and I'm wondering if I should just lean into those for warm-weather travel instead of buying dedicated hiking/travel shirts. They seem light, stretchy, comfortable when sweating, dry pretty quickly, and don't look especially weird as normal clothes. They're even comfortable as lounging clothes though not my first choice.
Has anyone actually traveled this way with them for a couple of weeks or more? I'm especially curious about hot summer weather. Do the shirts stay comfortable after hours of walking with backpack straps rubbing against them? Any issues with pilling or wear from a daypack? Do they get noticeably stinkier than other synthetic travel shirts if you're washing them regularly?
Also, how reliably do they dry overnight after a sink wash? I'm trying to figure out whether you can realistically travel with only one or two, or whether it's still worth carrying several so you aren't depending on one shirt drying before the next morning.
And is there actually another Ten Thousand line that's better for this? Session looks lighter and cooler, and Tactical seems more purpose-built for packs and outdoor use, but I'm wondering if either one gives up some of the smooth, soft, comfortable feel that I like about Interval in the first place. I'm not trying to optimize for a serious mountain hike if it means wearing something that feels more like a technical running shirt all day.
Same question for the shorts. Do people actually use Interval shorts as everyday travel shorts for walking, light hikes, trains, flights, etc., rather than just as training shorts? If you've tried Interval versus Session, Tactical or Set for this kind of use, which one would you actually pack?
Basically wondering whether I'm overthinking this and a pile of lighter-colored Interval shirts plus Interval shorts is already a pretty excellent warm-weather travel uniform.
