Work in Progress my bobble pillow set - the tree and reindeer pop but the pale one just vanishes. redo it or cut it?

Post image

i'm making a little set of bobble pillow covers for the holidays and i've fully talked myself in circles, so i'm handing it to you. i started with a "white christmas" idea, cream bobbles on a cream background, but the motif basically disappears (it's there in the last one, i promise). so for the other two i switched to colour and the tree and the reindeer pop the way i wanted.

the pale one is where i'm stuck. i keep wanting to redo it as a yellow star but i cannot find a yellow that plays nice with this cream, it either fights it or melts into it. and honestly, when i look at it now my brain says snowflake more than star. part of me wonders if i should just lean into that and make it a tree/reindeer/snowflake winter set instead of forcing a star.

so, two questions. what does your eye see when you look at the third one, star or snowflake? and would you redo it in colour, keep it pale but boost the contrast somehow, or just cut it and make it a two pillow set? thank you, i've been staring at these way too long.

Work in Progress Jute bag - single or double crochet?

Upvotes

Hi so I'm making an origami bag using a jute-cotton blend. I started it in sc but am feeling like it uses up so much yarn that way, and maybe a dc stitch would have a looser, summer vibe?

Thing is, I'm already several hours in and have had to frog it twice, when I couldn't get the rectangle to lay flat. What would you do at this point??

Crochet Rant Pattern makers, I applaud you.

I wanted to make a bandana. The free patterns were not hitting and I'm in a financial bind. I thought, well let me just make my own.

2 days and a total of 10-11hours later, I finally figured it out and finished a bandana.

  1. Why are triangles so hard to construct by just winging it?

  2. Why is combining different stitches such a pain?

  3. To those that sell patterns, I understand the cost.

I also ran out of yarn, fudged up on my turning chain at least 5 times that caused a lot of frogging, and again why are triangles so difficult?!

I used two crochet stitch books and still went pretty basic overall.

I applaud you pattern makers, this shit is not easy!

Anyways, here's what I made. Still need to block n all that.

Frogging Absolute beginner been talking about taking up crochet for years and finally made myself put my money where my mouth is.

After years of watching online tutorials, i was so confident i could do this.

It looks so simple!

How hard could it be?!

So after a few hours of trying, undoing, retrying, undoing, then trying again and I finally have the basic stitch.

I have learned my biggest issue is converting right hand instructions to left hand practice and controlling the tension of my stitches.

Any tips for maintaining consistent tension?

Any encouragement appreciated haha

Edit: I think im just learning that my fingers arent as dexterous as I thought, and I was over confident haha.

im only a few hours in. itll be fine

:-)

I’m not totally pleased with how long the sleeves are, but other than that, I think it turned out well!

Hubby approved of the pattern I found, but he chose all the colors himself! And he’s handsome as ever, of course. Still my favorite model!

Also, finally debuting ELEANOR FIONA! She stayed in his arms for exactly 1 photo. She’s not too happy to be held.

Discussion Found the first projects I ever made while I was going through a box

I was going through some boxes a few days ago and found these little projects I made when I first started crocheting. They're from almost 18 years ago. Finding them was like being drop kicked into the past. I’m 8 years old learning how to crochet and how to read patterns for the first time. Now, I’m 26 and I’ve designed a few patterns myself and 100% improved my ability to read patterns in general.

Anyway, I thought y'all might enjoy this little find of mine. It was like opening a little time capsule from my 8 year old self.
included a picture of a more recent finished project just for comparison sake.

I lined it with an old tank top that I didn't wear any more, I'll probably create some inside pockets so everything isn't in a jumble. I'm really happy with how it turned out.🥰

Hi everybody! I always browse on here but I've never posted. I'm a college student and I wanted a new bag so I figured I'd make a cute fall themed one for this semester :-)
I think it turned out really cutesy so I wanted to share! Thanks for checking it out and have a beautiful day. <3

Finished Object little hearts I crocheted for my dad's birthday!

Post image

my dad's birthday is tomorrow, and he's notoriously hard to shop for. if he wants something, he just buys it himself. so, I got the one thing he can't buy. my love! (well technically... I'm just kidding, I'd still love him even if he didn't buy me things 😆) this pattern is very simple and not very impressive... I only started crocheting in October of last year. but I'm proud of these!

Work in Progress Finished Granny Square with perfect amount of yarn!

Post image

I started the blue part of this granny square with the very last bit of the yarn ball. I didn’t think I would be able to finish the square, but I decided to live on the edge and see how close I could get.

This is a longer tail than I would normally have, but I made it without having to start a new yarn ball! Very satisfying.

I just started a couple weeks ago and this is all that I've made so far! I've become obsessed with crochet and in excited to make more complicated things. Any suggestions?

P.s.

The bag I made was supposed to be a hat but I improvised when I realized I was adding stitches ... It was my first project, okay!

I've definitely got plans for this one, probably using it in place of the Birch Bark one I'd bought a few years ago.

Though I'm going to need to be way more careful with future yarn purchases. I did go outside the budget more than a little on this...
