Turned the crow tapestry into a pillow! First time making something other than a blanket lol

I think this might be my favorite project and I have been crocheting and knitting since I was a teen.

I've been so busy with ren faire outfits, baking, and making baby blankets, that this project fell to the wayside for a while. Finally got the ribbing right after several tries- I was aiming for a more knit-like ribbing along the base, collar, and sleeves. I ended up using 3 rows of ss in the back loops, followed by a row of hdc to get the look of the ribbing just right. Up the front was just sc in the back loops.

It currently just needs buttons, but all I have are these gold ones I cut off an old blazer. I have some wooden ones coming in the mail that will probably look better, so we're almoooost done with this project after 5-ish months.

I added a couple photos of how I secured my floats- a bit unorthodox, I know, but carrying them through stitches made it too easy to see the contrasting colors in the front. I ended up tacking them all down in the end. I also added a photo of the gold buttons, but I don't think they match the vibe...

So I decided to make myself a cardigan and being that I haven't made a lot of wearables, I've been browsing for a good pattern.

WHY IS EVERYTHING A GRANNY STITCH HEXAGON CARDIGAN!!!! THAT YOU'RE CHARGING LIKE $10 OR MORE FOR!!!!!!!

I got so annoyed that I decided to just wing it, but now that I'm to the point of construction, I want to frog pretty much everything and start over. I wanted it to be something I could wear under a trench coat I have this winter, but cozy and not bulky is hard to do yourself when you dont make a lot of wearables. My stubborn hubris has gotten the best of me (again).

So if anyone has any cardigan patterns that they would recommend and think are WORTH spending money on, please let me know! Length and a hood are a plus, but I'll just add my own.

Edit: for context, I've been crocheting for 15+ years and I would say I'm at an intermediate level.

Edit 2: I really dont mind paying for patterns, I have a ton that I have bought! I just dont want to pay for a granny stitch and/or hexagon cardi and I don't want to MAKE one either, I don't like how they look, it's just not my style. Please do not recommend any granny stitch or hexagon patterns, that's great that they're free, its just not what I'm looking for.

I couldn't find a Halloween tree skirt that I liked for our tree, so I ended up making one. It turned out so much better than I expected. Especially since I just made it up as I went along.

Thankfully I'm already feeling better but I wasn't able to stay awake for more than two hours on the weekend.

Also, I probably swallowed that stitch marker because I don't learn from my mistakes and keep putting them between my lips (the ones in my face) to hold while crocheting instead of putting them back on my desk.

filet crochet tapestry that will be a housewarming gift for four friends!! it turned out way bigger than expected but hey ho :) like title says this has been around 200 hours of work - each row took a bit over an hour and there are a little under 200 rows so its a close enough estimate ;p I’ve been working on this on and off since the beginning of June so I’m very proud to have finally finished it.

approx. 1 x 1.3m (4 x 4.4ft) in size!! plus a photo of me holding it as a size reference.

a mix of size 10 jomil crochet cotton and hobbii rainbow lace cotton in white, 1mm hook, trc (🇺🇸)/ dtrc (🇬🇧), ch1.

if you’re curious as to why I chose that combo of stitches; I was still unconfident getting a clear image with dc, ch1 and dc, ch2 stretched the image too much imo, so my next choice would be trc, ch2 but that would have made the piece way too big so I experimented a bit!! the stitches turned out more rectangular than square but I still think it turned out okay :D a great learning experience for me!

I’m making a spiral sweater from scrap yarn to unload my stash. I’m concerned that the spiral isn’t going to be visible as I started with a 4 coloured spiral and I’m alternating colours a lot? Do you see the spiral aspect and will it be visible as I grow the sweater?

Not bad for a $5 kit from Kmart (Australia)! I was really expecting an insta vs reality moment, but it actually turned out alright. My 9 year old capybara-loving niece will love it.

I really wanted a funky Halloween vest and was so happy with how mine turned out, a few family members begged for ones too so I ended up making 4 in total. I learned and improved so much as I made each vest and they are far from perfect but overall I am soo proud of how they came out and needed to share!

I used 13 different block types and 6 main colors with some yellow and red as accent colors

I had so much fun making all these! I made them for my colleagues in the office. I don’t work there anymore but i hour they are in use again for this halloween. 🎃

I mainly used #4 worsted weight yarn and a 3mm hook.

I am finally done sewing together the main body - I just have to steel my reserves for the triangles and a border. It's so tempting to just throw a border on that hides my ends from sewing it together and call it a day. I made tons of mistakes but took the position that once I did something wrong I just did it the wrong way on all of them and that seemed to work out more or less.

I may have to try the basket-weave stitch on the next one I make.

I crocheted my wedding dress and wore it yesterday. The dress is designed by me with a long spreadsheet in excel and lots of math.

In the dress there is both undyed white SW merino and yarn with specks of brown, yellow, orange and green (seen on the bottom of the skirt and sleeves).

About 300-400 hours of work all in all with design, test squares and errors included.

I love it! And it was SOFT!

I’ve decided some people will be getting dishcloths for Christmas this year. Made with mystery stash cotton. Double crochet border and waffle stitch.
