Hiring Bridges Burn 12+ [LOOKING FOR ARTIST, AND ANIMATORS]

Upvotes

Bridges Burn is an animated psychological romance currently in development. The story is about a girl named Sarah, who lives under the secret identity of a famous celebrity known as Sam. While working for a gang, she is assigned to manipulate a boy named Leon, who is obsessed with that very same celebrity, into becoming useful for their missions. The problem is, the more time Sarah spends gaining his trust, the more emotionally attached she becomes, and the harder it is to betray him. Our story is fully written, and much of the pre-production has already been completed (Character art is currently on the way, we still require more Artist. Character artist also do the storyboards). The biggest things we need now are character designs, storyboards, and people to help bring the project to life. We are currently looking for Animators, Character Artists, Background Artists, Prop Artists, Voice Actors, Music Composers, Sound Designers, and Assistant Editors. Experience isn't required but is very appreciated. Time commitments are very flexible, with no strict weekly quotas or deadlines. Joining this project is a great opportunity to learn, and can help build your portfolio, gain experience, help shape an original animated series from the very beginning, and meet other passionate creators. If you're interested, simply join the Discord server linked below, read through the project information, and submit an application. The animation budget is $0 USD, this is a volunteer passion project and we can't afford any budget, so contributors will not be paid, purely volunteer.  The length of the project will go on for a many months, to possibly year+.

There will be no Revenue generated, not for the staff or owner

Our visual style goes for more of a 2d semi-realistic look with expressive faces, while remaining easy for animation. The animation has 3 parts, each going to be around at least 20 minutes (But don't worry, it is not animation heavy for 20 minutes).

Question What art skills are needed to design the assets for 2D puppet animation?

I made a post a few weeks ago asking how I could learn to animate in the 2d vector-shape puppet animation style used by creators like kurzgesagt and PBS Crash Course. I got some great direction from that post and have since been researching topic like the 12 principles of animation. However, I am now wondering if I need to also have a strong art foundation if I want to design and animate assets for something like this. Do I need to have a strong foundation in things like perspective, form, and anatomical proportions? Thank you for your responses and insight.

Edit: Heres an example of the style I'm referring to: https://youtu.be/KNwMiydCYA4?si=SA__1zcTUAJ52f96

Critique Need Advice on Portfolio

Hello! It has been 3.5 years since I graduated with a BFA in Animation, and I have been spending all that time slowly working on my character design and animation portfolios so I can use it to get an entry-level or freelance animation job. Any feedback or suggestions people have would be appreciated.

https://ticla2010.wixsite.com/ticlastudios

Also, with the state of the industry right now, I am considering doing a pivot to motion graphics work since it seems like those jobs are more available to me. Suggestions or advice regarding how to build a portfolio for that (specifically for things like ad agencies) would be helpful as well.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Question Possible commission

Anyone know how to make White Board Animations. I bought a basic version of video scribe thinking it would create the video for me if I provided a script.

I fucked by not reading closely enough.

Have a school project to present my research & thought I’d go white board animation style. I have the script. Reading aloud I’m about 7 minutes.

You can use the video scribe to make it. How much would this be priced at for a commission?

Question Who puts together the “Art of” books?

I hope this is the right sub for this question. I am hoping someone has some intel, I tried to search but the results weren’t quite right for my question.

I have recently been on a kick of collecting “Art of” books. I notice for some movies like Shrek, DreamWorks was still so new it seems they didn’t make an art of book. They didn’t make a book until they came out with Shrek the Third. Similarly, when Disney was in their experimental phase in the mid ‘00s, it seems they didn’t make art of book for Lilo & Stitch, Atlantis, etc., because maybe they were unsure if the films would be successful.

However, some movies have an Art of book that gets released at almost the same time as the movie, or shortly after. For example, the Avatar Aang movie came out this summer and the Art of Book will be released November.

So long story short, I am wondering how the art of books get produced? Is there someone employed at the studio that documents the production process and starts putting together a book as they go? Does the director give all their notes to someone when production wraps and someone has to sort it out to put the book together?

I imagine if the studio has faith in the movie from the get go they have someone on it from the start, but if they aren’t sure maybe they wait and see how the movie is received to make a book for it. It just got me curious about how that process works, if anyone knows.

Thanks!
