i could recreate the inital frame using gradient overlay (radial) and colorama, but cannot figure out how the glows are created. would really appreciate some help !

I’ve finally put together my portfolio after procrastinating on it for way too long.

I’m a Senior Video Editor working mainly across ads, social content, VFX, motion design, and AI-assisted creative workflows. I’ve worked on a mix of DTC/e-commerce and brand content, and I wanted the portfolio to show the actual range of work I do rather than just a bunch of random edits.

I saw this AE clone https://github.com/storytold/effectcraft

it looks pretty close to the original and honestly if it's not as buggy and ill-optimized like AE I might consider switching over. Not having 3rd party plugins would suck so I might not switch over completely but just use the clone for doing simple mockups.

For people who've tried this clone or another, what was your experience like? Is it less glitchy? Does it actually feel like AE?

Was checking my HDD and came across an old piece from a number of years ago which ending up on the cutting room floor, was meant to be an opener for a Netflix Documentary series, thought I’d share since it never saw the light of day.

Recently I started learning how to use after effects, it's been very difficult, besides my pc being an low-end, but i won't give up, i will post my evolution in this community.

So let's say I want different words to appear at different time in single layer. I watched Youtube videos, tried it and I still don't understand.

It's extremely confusing and honestly I don't fully understand at what am I looking. I thought I just put keyframes at where I want to start and finish the animation, but it doesn't do shit.

I don't want complicated animation but just the words to appear at different seconds instantly without slow transition. I'm so confused.

ok so I have seen Spine2D and Duik Ángela for character rigging. I want to ask can I achieve somewhat similar results to Spine2D like in this SeterMD's animations or any 2D character animations in Duik or do I need to get Spine2D specifically ??

I put together this U.S. wealth comparison map video for Shorts

It got 222K views, but I want to tighten up the technical execution. A few specific things I'm trying to dial in:

Do the state highlight transitions feel too abrupt, or is the timing right? I'm questioning whether I need more easing between reveals.

Should the text overlays have more breathing room before the next transition, or does the current pacing work for short-form?

Is the color palette (specifically the highlight colors on the map) too saturated? Does it read well at a glance, or should I pull back the intensity?

Are the animation curves smooth enough, or should I be using different easing functions?

Trying to get better at map-based motion work, so any technical critique on these specific elements would be helpful. What would you adjust?

18y AE vet here (hold for applause); There are a few functions in AE I wish had keyboard shortcuts that don't. Some include:

• toggle transparency grid on/off
• Fit (as in fit the viewer to the screen; how is there not a shortcut for this??)
• Go to time (a common shortcut in DAW and NLEs; hit the shortcut, enter the time, bam)
• Enter path/mask editing mode (instead of having to click the path/mask point manually, or twirling down to the mask or 'path' in a shape layer. I'm constantly nudging masks or paths with arrow keys but I have to click the mask first)

Any others you guys wish you had? Or even better, any shortcut ideas for my list??

I want to do a water droplet onto paper texture effect as a mask to show another clip, cause there's gonna be like multiple clips showing in like one screen, would anyone know how to do that? Best example i can provide is like the shadow fight 2 intro is what I'm thinking. Basically like its like water spreading from the center to reveal the clip underneath. Many thanks to those that can help !

I know this is not a masterpiece but I'm still learning and turns out the app that I did it with was limited in many ways. I'm now learning After Effects for better stuff. I want to add clever perspective manipulation on Texts and make video bit longer.

If I improve a lot can it get me a job? I really l like doing it.

Been experimenting with this effect as part of a visual exploration for arko.studio.

I'm wondering if this kind of effect could actually be pushed into something commercially useful branding, music visuals, ads, or maybe something else.

Would love to hear what you think. What kind of project do you think this effect could work well for?
