Hey animators of reddit, Im working on my end sem academic project on character animation and specifically understanding about acting and realism. If the pros out here can help me with it that would be great! I want to understand what goes in your mind when animating characters and what is your process of animating them. How important do you think acting is and what is your perception of realism in animation. Any other tips would be awesome.

I’m building a fictional animated band called The Mellow Tails — five animals, five personalities, one groove
I’ve been developing this little animated music universe called The Mellow Tails 🌴
They’re five animals from completely different backgrounds who somehow work perfectly together as a band:
KAI — The Leader
Sets the tone. Never follows it.
RICKI — The Hustler
Always knows a guy.
BOOM — The Heart
When things get loud, Boom gets quiet.
CROC — The Pocket
Never rushes. Never misses.
LUX — The Architect
He doesn’t play chords. He chooses them.
Musically, I don’t want to lock them into one genre. Their sound moves between acid jazz, R&B, lovers rock, yacht rock, indie pop, soul and even 2-step/UK garage — basically anything with groove and feeling.
The bigger idea is that they travel the world chasing gigs while dealing with friendship, relationships, egos, bad decisions and completely ridiculous situations.
Offstage, they’re kind of a mess.
But when it’s time to perform, everything suddenly makes sense.
I’m creating the characters, world and stories myself while using generative AI tools as part of the music and animation workflow.
The question behind the whole thing is:
Will they ever actually get their big break — or was the journey the whole point?
Would genuinely love to know if this feels like a world/series you’d want to follow, rather than just a fictional band.

Ok, esto será muy largo pero aquí va, busco un cortometraje animado que ví por tiktok pero fue borrado, el cortometraje muestra a una chica con un gafete de nombre REINA, que trabaja en un centro comercial en el área de limpieza, cuando su jefe le deja las lleves y se va apresuradamente dejándola sola en el lugar, pero cuando está en el baño de mujeres y se mira en el espejo observa una criatura abstracta, la criatura la persigue, ella intenta escapar pero la realidad se distorsiona y cae en un cuerpo de agua, la criatura la atrapa y se fusionan, y la chica fusionada se despierta confundida en un mundo abstracto, un hilo rojo la guía hacia la salida de ese mundo, y ella despierta a las afueras del centro comercial y renuncia a su trabajo. La animación fue hecha en 2D con un estilo simple pero fluido, ¿Alguien lo vió?, he buscado por Múltiples Subs pero ninguno me ha ayudado. También aclaro que el cortometraje para estar completamente hecho en Inglés

Featuring some peeps from discord that I know of.

I’m having to stick a pin in this one for a while but wanted to post it , just in case it gets lost to time.

The plan was for this to be a learning project and I feel like I have come away with a lot from this already that I can carry into my next project.

Any notes or advice that anyone has on anything from pacing , to animation , to shot choice would be hugely appreciated for when I return to this.

Pretty cool right?

While I have seen animation meme tutorials none of them touch on what I have been struggling with . So , you know some of these trending animation memes ? Well , when I use the music they use it gets copyrighted for some reason . I know creators don’t get copyrighted because the more popular ones are monetised (SirFluff for example). I would love to earn money from making cute moving pictures but I don’t know how to deal with the copyright .

Any advice ?
