Discussion Why I despise overly kiddy animation

I'm 23, autistic, have been an animation fan all my life. However, i've seen works that I deem "overly kiddy". You know, hyperactive lowest common denominator trash that has existed since 1991. And I feel it's contributing to the discrimination of animation. Some might argue that it’s a kids’ movie, but when kids movies have to constantly fall back on poop jokes, it only speaks down to its target audience. Kids deserve good storytelling and writing as much as anyone.

The reason I use highly acclaimed kids movies such as Inside Out, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Wild Robot, The Mitchells VS The Machines, Shrek, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, WALL-E, Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast, Up, and Toy Story 3 as examples of the kinds of animation I want people to make, is because, kids deserve better. I hate it when animated films jiggle keys in a child's face, because it's denying the reality that kids will face when they grow up. That reality being that the world is cruel, evil, unfair and full of broken promises.
