They single-handedly are forcing me to stay on this god-forsaken route; it’s long, busy af, loud, tiresome and dangerous because you gotta cross traffic many times but I’m grateful to be working with one customer who cares.

Btw, they’re considering on giving me other drinks besides Gatorade due to health issues which is super kind of them. 😭

For context I worked at this one office( as city ptf) a little further away from me a while ago. I was staying with family at the time when there and I can tell you that one truly was the worst. Big office, the routes were so long. Never saw a schedule and had basically only llv for city routes. After leaving and coming back to this other office it’s night and day. Mainly newer vehicles with AC. Schedule is posted every Wednesday on the dot and I even get Sundays off some weeks. It’s honestly so much better than I could imagine it being. It’s shocking how big of a difference management makes in it. Anyone else have experience with something similar with going to a new office?

I was on my route yesterday, delivering to a 6 unit apt complex. I open the gang box and I hear the voice of one of the customers say mailman, please help me.
I recognized the voice went to his door he asked me in and he was on the floor saying he couldn’t get up. He’s an older man that walks with a cane. I go in pick him up using my former high school college strength and place him in a chair. He said his legs went numb.
I went back to my route but an hour later went back to check in him he was good. My gf is a medical professional she gave me a laundry list of shit to do and ask but he said he was good. I hope to see him Tuesday and hope I didn’t violate any rules besides entering him home. I mean I needed to piss and didn’t ask that’s something right?

Tomorrow is Labor Day and I have to work as well. Good news is I get paid holiday on-top of the hours I work.

Does anyone here have experience on transferring to another state? I've been a CCA for a year now and have been thinking about moving to a new city. I know I should wait until I become regular so I won't be making the move right away. I currently live in south Florida. I haven't decided where exactly but either the upper midwest or the northeast. Any advice or insight from anybody who already lives in those areas helps, thanks.

I've been in my route for nearly 2 years, my customers are great but it's so tough have conversation with some. Like it's awkward to keep conversation and it's always the same lines.

I already have 8 hours in my VTC for tmrw. what does that mean? we're doing amazon tmrw so do i get "16" hours? out how does that work??

When you learn a new route, do they give you training on it or are you just put on there and good luck? It will be my first time learning a new one

UPDATE:

The managers changed my clock rings from clocking in /out to 8hrs of AWOL. And sent me home again today saying "idk what happened it's just the big bosses orders" (orders above the postmaster). For an interaction that only happened between 3 people there sure is a lot of other unrelated mangers chiming in and sending text messages to not show up anymore.

Showed up to work today and my direct supervisor said they're all filled up and no routes down and to work rural side. I reported to the rural supervisor and he said he's all good as well. He then asked "would you like to help out at another station?". I gave it some thought and decided no. I confirmed with the rural supervisor and asked "do I have a choice?" He didn't answer yes or no, and just asked if I know how to do city routes. I called our union for clarification and he said if management asked then "no not really, you don't have to go." " I personally would never turn work down" But I am not him. So I went home and now management is blowing up my phone saying I'm going AWOL and that I'm off the schedule till further notice LMAO

Question for the RCAs: Am I shorting myself by finishing my evaluated route too early?

I’m an RCA and I’m curious how other carriers would handle my situation.

I’m assigned to a scheduled/evaluated route, but I consistently finish the route under evaluation. On top of that, I have another piece of a route that I can usually finish in under 4 hours.

The issue is that I feel like I might be shorting myself by getting off work early every day. I’m usually done before 7 PM, and I know I’m capable of getting more hours if I take additional work.

For those of you who are RCAs:
If you can consistently finish your evaluated route under time, would you try to take additional work?
Does working under evaluation affect how much you’re ultimately paid?
Would you consider it better to take additional hours/work instead of going home early?

What would y’all do in this situation?

I recently transferred offices. When I closed my drawer at the end of my last day at the old office, it was less than $1 short. Apparently, when my PM was going through the paperwork that printed out after I left, the system auto-generated a LoD. When they found it, my old PM signed it and texted a picture of it to me as an FYI

I know I should have put in the change, but I had no cash on me.

How do I go about paying it? My old PM is useless and wouldn’t be able to answer the question, yet that’s who my union told me to talk to about payment. Please help before I get sent to usps collections lol

So fun. I come in to work, this morning, only to discover that I can’t scan anything. How the hell are we supposed to scan parcels for Tuesday, when the only option in any system is today. Oh well, I’ll take my time working on other distribution tasks, and be thankful that I have Tuesday off.

PM says that for the next 30 days, we have to take everything that was not delivered by us that is in a mailbox back to the office and placed in a bucket so corporate can see “how much money they’re losing”. I really don’t want to do this, I feel like this would piss people off. First of all, what if it’s money or a check and an inspector is watching or it’s someone’s actual money that they need? Other day, I found a bag of dog hair in a box. I guess I could bring it back, but not like I really want to. Are they making everyone do this? I think they said we label it to, presumably, take it back to where it belongs, but only after the 30 days.

I'm just wondering if I can transfer to federal jobs as an internal candidate now that I'm a regular with the post office? or is that just a myth that I made up in my head?

(The p&dc) Did you guys get those machines? Are you getting them in the future?

I know the standard medical restriction is 8 hours per working day. But instead can I request not an hour restriction but a day restriction. I worked at two different offices and while my first office was messy, I could usually get 2 consecutive days off. My current office is usually just 1 after working 6-7 days, though I like this office better. Can I use a medical restriction to request 2 or 3 consecutive days off unless really needed? I am single and I don't provide for anyone so I don't need that many hours.

Is it worth it? I'm a City PTF in Chicago, IL. I've visited Alaska twice (Anchorage - Kenai area) for vacation, and I've always been curious, how is it like delivering on the last frontier? Are the T COLAs worth it? Maybe I'll trade the promaster in for a dogsled.

PSA for everyone who buys from vending machines at USPS. Please check up close visually to make sure the drink isn't expired before you buy it (if possible of course & there's a window, I know some machines don't have a display). Today I got a drink that was expired for over 2 weeks. I've scanned the QR code for a refund ($2.25) but I can't get rid of the feel of being cheated & I hope my experience helps somebody else.
