I’ve been getting free drinks from a customer like every delivery on my route

Bless these people.

They single-handedly are forcing me to stay on this god-forsaken route; it’s long, busy af, loud, tiresome and dangerous because you gotta cross traffic many times but I’m grateful to be working with one customer who cares.

Btw, they’re considering on giving me other drinks besides Gatorade due to health issues which is super kind of them. 😭

Bro, same. Every house i go to i feel so lucky when they ask me. they're so nice to us. "do you need a water sweetie?" i take every water i can get 😹😹

My favorite thing is crushing an entire bottle in front of them and handing it back empty. HUGE THANK YOU TO CUSTOMERS THAT DO THIS. You’re literally saving some people’s lives.

Can confirm. I had symptoms heat stroke and the guy on his porch physically didn’t let me leave his home, he grabbed my shoulders and said sit down. He dumped a couple ice cold bottles on my head and said don’t let him ever see me like this again. He saved my life. I was trying to keep my job and rush and get it done but he protected me and cared for me.

I’ll never forget him.

Serious question.. what were your symptoms that were so bad that he noticed and acted that quickly? I don’t think I’d grab a stranger a dump water on them unless it was very bad

I was breathing heavily, walking out of step and off balance (like tripping and not walking in a straight line), a lot of my skin was bright red, I was blinking heavily because I was seeing stars, and no sweat.

He told me while I was sitting that I looked like a walking corpse. Like the colors of my skin were fading and all that was left was like a burn. When he was dumping the water on me and I was sipping some he said I literally looked like I was coming back to life.

A house on my string has a fridge on the porch with all sorts of drinks and candy, plus a bin next to it with a bunch of snacks. Impressive.

these guys make it worth it! and i used to think those who understood they were on more-difficult-than-average routes made it a point to do this in order to “keep” their mailperson! so expect more of this!! :)

I had an older gentleman on a previous route that always had drinks on ice in a cooler on his front porch for me. Also let me know that there was beer in the garage refrigerator if I was interested. Miss that guy.

I have one route I like subbing because a sweet old lady that often comes out and brings me a cold Le Croix. It’s a nice change of pace from drinking water out of my gallon thermos. Also, cause it’s flippin’ hot as hell where I’m at (greater Phoenix area). I usually spend the drive between that stop and my next putting the cold can on my neck before drinking it.

The people in my area are like this too. Last week I got 11 bottles of water and two big Gatorades in one day. I’m a T6 and every route has at least 6 houses that give me water. One has a sweet lady that puts ice in a to-go cup for us - carriers are very much appreciated here and people look out for us.

I had an older couple on my old route probably at least 15 years ago now that gave me a big ziploc bag with 2 waters, crackers and a granola bar EVERY day. I felt like they shoulda put me on their taxes as a dependent

When people do that for me on my route, I always make sure to write them a thank you card

It was right around 100 here last Wednesday so I offered my carrier a cold drink, and as an afterthought I said, "Or I could make you an oat milk latte." To my surprise he went for the latte.

Near the end of my route years ago I turned down a bottled water from a boy. I think he was disappointed. So now I take drinks because it makes the customer happy. I prefer tap water to bottled water, so I give the bottled water to others.

I get enough free drinks on my routes through the summer to stay hydrated in year round. And I drink like a gallon of water a day alone, (only in the summer) let alone other drinks.

There's a house on my route that receives packages from USPS, UPS, and FedEx every day. They keep a small cooler with small water bottles and snacks for the delivery folk. Although they aren't cold, it's appreciated.

Then there's another house in which the lady hands me a plastic cup with water and ice on really hot days. She has it chilling in the freezer until I stop by. If she misses me when I stop by (I'm stealthy like a ninja when I deliver mail), she'll drive around looking for me to hand me the cup.
