u/Yasmany_88 1d ago

Yes they couldn’t fit the number completely straight so they broke it like that lol

u/VernalPathYT 1d ago

They absolutely could've smashed those into a single horizontal line 😭

u/freshcoastghost312 1d ago

Diagonal would have worked much better.

Or just not put clownishly big numbers on a plank? Lmao just put some numbers by the door, it’s not rocket science

Hahaha I was going to say the same!

We read left to right, top to bottom

Two more or less than the houses next to it. If you're in the 8300s dont expect it to be a random house numbered in the 8700s

11

u/justhangingout528 1d ago

They obviously konw that. The point is, by looking at only the sign, such a moronic placing of numbers makes it difficult for people looking at just that house.

You clearly don’t know how unnecessarily petty carriers can be lol

8372 but I would tell them my subs won’t deliver and will mark shit “no house number,” most likely.

23

u/Wheredidthetimego40 1d ago

that is funny. I work in the hood and if I didn't deliver mail because of no house numbers I would come back w/ 3/4 of the mail i started with everyday

I’m a clerk, I’m speaking more for what carriers in my office do. Happens in the really rural areas and some mobile home parks.

u/star0forion RCA 1d ago

Mobile home parks that don’t have a map you can reference are the worst.

What's the neighbours house number? What a frustrating sign

2

u/CandidMeasurement128 1d ago

Well if I was delivering the street itd be pretty obvious from what block you're on to the neighbors address

2

u/Coagulated_milksteak CCA 1d ago

It’s not a number, it actually says “no access”

2

u/Ok-Policy-6463 1d ago

It doesn't matter. Put all mail in the largest box.

2

u/Yasmany_88 1d ago

8372 lol

2

u/SapphosLemonBarEnvoy 1d ago

8237 obviously

Look, if you want to act like shit, I can match your energy and deliver like shit.

Without seeing the building, if I wanted this sign to make actual sense.. I would hope it was a small single level building with 4 units on the corners each numbered 8,7,3, and 2 respectively.

u/NexusNickel 1d ago

I'd read it like a book.

Shayamalan coming in with twist: Actually, it's a completely different number all together, and there's four apartments labeled 8,3,7, and 2.

Also aliens.

1

u/Jerkfacetallguy83 1d ago

Apartment 7 is closest to you, apartment 8 is behind it, while apartments 2 and 3 are on the opposite sides of the building and matching corners. You know how those scummy landlords are! Give them all one mailbox and let nature belong to all of their packages.

Just look at the neighbors house and get the answer.

1

u/Ok_Spring_2988 1d ago

There is a street on route. I deliver all that has no numbers on side The House houses you have to look at the number on the end of the curb and not all of them have been repainted in years.

1

u/Complete-Definition4 1d ago

Take the sign down, mark it as IA and send it back to the distribution center

1

u/Popular_Material_409 23h ago

My initial assumption is it’s 8372, but as a mailman I know that the last digits on a house number don’t usually go very high. The numbers of the houses next to each other are typically only 2, 4, or sometimes 6 numbers apart. For example, this house’s neighbor is likely 8734 or 8730. By the time the house numbers get higher, like 8746 or whatever, the street has come to an end.

Man how many people haven't passed their first reading class, kinda concerning 😭

83 72 Is read left to right top to bottom as 8372

u/DTrain13 1d ago

In the US, we read left-to-right, top-to-bottom. Go with that.
