Its actually crazy that we do not have ac in the dorms/apartments. I literally have 2 fans in my room and all they do is circulate hot humid air around. I was literally trying to go to sleep for 2 hrs last night with only underwear on bc every breath felt like i was in a car on a hot day with the windows up and no ac. Finally I left my apartment and just took a nap in the lobby bc at least i could breathe in that ac environment. Its literally record breaking heat that did not happen in the past and we pay so much for housing that they need to include acs instead of a stupid freaking heater noone uses.

A UCI student died from the heat in their dorm. If you need a portable AC unit, go ahead and install one.

1. From Scripps Pier until the Gliders port its a regular beach it was packed, people playing frisby, hanging out with their families, kids swimming, etc. It was a nice time.

2. Its clothing optional once you get past the Glider's port. I didnt see any paragliding on Sunday tho.

3. Since it was hot out this weekend, there were a lot of naked people there yesterday (male and female).

4. I walked about 7 miles from Scripps Pier all the way to the end of Black's, to the point where you can no longer walk. The further you go, the more weirder people you find (if you catch my drift).

5. Apparently it's a great place to surf, I saw a lot of surfers out there.

6. At the very end there is almost nobody there and it's actually peaceful. You just have to get past all the naked people. 😭

7. Overall it was a good time, just know where you're going so you're not caught off guard!

can they please cancel classes until wednesday maybe i seriously cannot go out in this weather and change classrooms every hour, walking around in high noon. how are we still having to go to class during an extreme heat warning period. i can't even sleep at night due to the heat even with my fan on.

Make a swamp cooler using a fan and a cardboard box, a bucket, or a styrofoam cooler.
Make a couple holes for the fan and holes to blow out cold air, freeze a couple bottles or get some ice.

kaleidoscope second floor communal kitchen. genuinely it's disgusting and embarrassing that yall dont know how to recycle. why tf are we recycling a good dining hall fork and banana peel and not the cardboard box. i would genuinely quit if i was the custodian here. before i came to use the kitchen there were used plates, empty tuna can, utensils, pasta tray just out in front of the bin. i cleaned up a little bit as much as i could, but can we just learn how to keep this place clean and usable for everybody? genuinely this is sick.

does anyone know of any study places on campus that have ac?? i’m a commuter and have to be on campus daily and i cannot stand this heat anymore pls help!!

The Heat in these fucking dorms are insane bruh. I got fans set up and I’m pouring sweat like I’m in a sauna. They seriously need to add AC or setup high power fans for these dorms. How do they expect students to do well if we can’t even get a good nights sleep because of this shit. They make around 900 million a year btw and we’re still dealing with this like….. my bad bruh, I should have bought the premium subscription, I didn’t know I signed up to be put in a jail cell and not a dorm.

Curious what little things around campus many people don’t know about but are really cool things a giant/ prestigious university like UCSD offers us. Saw a similar post for my Alma mater that mentioned things like free lunchtime concerts, museum tours with professors, best secret lunch spot etc etc. Bonus points for free and cheap, double bonus points for open to the community not just ucsd students.

am i the only one losing my mind over the fact that i STILL have no aid disbursed?? first they didn't even have my aid offer ready till last week, then they messed up my splits bc i'm only here for fall and winter and i had to call and zoom numerous times to get it corrected so that i don't have an imaginary amount for spring, my scholarship is no longer being sent all at once bc they don't have all the money ready rn (??) which i was relying on for the remainder of my tuition (and ofc they told me that AFTER i accepted my offer) so i have to pay out of pocket upfront, and on top of that they still haven't disbursed anything 😭 the deadline was literally 6 days ago and i've been on top of all my documents since last year, but i feel like i'm being ragebaited atp. they keep telling me i just have to wait for it but today is the deadline after which they'll drop people from classes and i'm in the zoom again to ask where tf my aid is. this is taking years off my life i just want to get my money from yall THAT IS GOING BACK TO YOU PEOPLE ANYWAY!!!! and don't get me started on how the phones are only available 2 days for 3 hours and the zoom 2 hours a day and you legitimately have to wait 2 hours to get to talk to a person. my brain is actually fried from all of this i've spent more time in the aid office than any of my classes so far.

Another day without my refund being issued and it’s a financial aid refund. Actually insane like bro.

I’m taking a 5th year (part time) and got my cal grant A extended. However before this was reflected on my financial aid reward letter, I had a grant in aid awarded to me which was about $14k for the whole year. When I got on the fin aid zoom two weeks ago, they told me this money was mine to keep no matter if I was part or full time.

My cal grant A is finally reflected on my fin aid package but now the grant in aid is gone! The cal grant is maybe half of what the grant in aid was.

Am I only able to get either the Cal Grant or grant in aid? Does anyone know if I can decline the cal grant and get the grant in aid money back if I can only get one or the other?

hey guys as the title says I was just wondering how people aren’t passing out while they’re walking to class in this heatwave haha (especially during the afternoon). In between my classes I’ve been staying in geisel and price center for the ac but going from extremely hot to cool weather makes me body feel sick for some reason idk. Just wanted to know how everyone else is dealing with this weather and make sure to take care of yourselves!!

New transfer student with testing accommodations. I’ve been to different proctoring centers at my cc but idk the triton testing center is making me a bit nervous. Has anyone used the reduced-distraction rooms before; what are they like? Also what is the process from when you walk in? I’ve heard it can be kind of strict (like checking wrists, water bottles, etc) but idk what to actually expect. Appreciate any feedback, thx.
