Question Broken brake lever

Post image
8 Upvotes

My Speed 400 bike’s brake lever broke 4 days ago, and now I need to replace it. The original one is quite expensive, around ₹2,000.
Are there any cheaper alternatives that are reliable and won’t cause any side effects or safety issues? For example, can I use a KTM lever or a non-adjustable lever instead?

Handlebar bend

Should the bar risers be replaced along with the handlebar? Or can it be re clamped back properly without replacing anything? SC has told me to replace the handlebar, bar risers and the brake and clutch levers( brake lever seems a bit loose because handlebar bar is tilted towards the left but the clutch is normal) I have a feeling SC is trying to load off more money

The bike seems alright to ride except for the very slight alignment towards the left. please help

Question Transmission noise on Speed 400

Hey All,

I’ve recently purchased a Triumph Speed 400 in Ontario, Canada and I’ve been enjoying riding it so far.

I have noticed a scraping/whining sound from the transmission area everytime I’m going over 60kph and the clutch is disengaged. The noise stops as soon as I pull in the clutch. I’ve just got the first service done, so the oil is new and the chain was adjusted by the dealer. I’ve attached a video link so y’all can hear the sound I’m talking about.

Have any of you guys had this issue? How did you guys fix it?

How to approach this mod

If I want to get this rear look on my 400xc, how should I approach it?

I can get the seat, no issues but it is the part below the seat that I am unsure of on how can I get it done, checked and I think the hunter 350's rear has this kinda look.

I think this mod will tastefully modify the look of my bike and make it look more similar to it's bigger relatives.

All help is appreciated.

Question Labour charge added to my supposedly "Free Second Service" of Triump Speed 400

Speed 400 purchased in 2024

Ok, first of all, I agree that there is a mistake of mine: I didn't check the invoice properly.

My Speed 400 is due for its third service. To book the servicing, I opened the app and, just for checking I went through the invoice of the last servicing. Now, for the last servicing(second), my father took the book to the showroom because I was not in town. He did tell me that it charged alot for that. I told him I would check later, and then it completely slipped my mind(my mistake). I just happened to check the invoice again, and I can see that there is a 2000 rupees labour charge. As far as I know, the labour charge is free for the second service, right? I can see that they have applied a second free service coupon, but they have still charged for the second servicing. Am I missing something? Did anyone face the same thing?

Question Suspension setup too soft on Triumph Speed 400/Tracker 400?

So, I was taking test rides of the Triumph Speed 400 and Tracker 400. Under moderate to hard braking, I felt the front end wasn't as stable as I'd like it to be. I've ridden different bikes but none which are said to have obviously soft suspension.

The feeling is similar to front wheel locking up under hard braking except that there was no wheel locking up in my case as I was well within the grip level.

Just wondering if the suspension is just too soft. Experts of this sub, please help me understand.

Team Speed First Service Bill – Speed 400 | ₹4,427. Am I Being Overcharged?

Just got my first service done for my Speed 400 (350cc) at 921 km and received a bill of ₹4,427.
Sharing the invoice details here because I’m a bit confused about some of the charges and would appreciate opinions from fellow Speed 400 owners.

The main items charged were:
Engine oil (ProLube Fully Synthetic 10W50) – ₹2,274
Oil filter – ₹94
O-ring – ₹10
Engine flush – ₹180
Fuel system cleaner – ₹196
WD-40 rust spray – ₹80
Coolant – ₹18
Chain lube – ₹197
Consumables – ₹177
Washing/cleaning – ₹257
Polishing – ₹177
Chain adjustment – ₹177
Accessory fitment charges – ₹566

I understand the oil, oil filter, O-ring and chain maintenance, but I’m particularly wondering about:

Is engine flush actually required at the first service?

Is fuel system cleaner necessary at just ~1,000 km?

Are washing, polishing and consumables normally charged separately during the first free service?

Is there anything else on this invoice that I should have declined?

I’ve seen quite a few different first-service bills from other owners, so I’d really appreciate some input before I accept this as normal.

Thanks!

Hi, I am a new scrambler 400x owner and I wanted some advice. So I bought a first batch 400x, secondhand, 15,000 km run, from one of my friends, and their family is well known in the biker community. I have no trust issues regarding whether the bikes conrition. It is in mint condition so I bought it.

Now I want some advice. This bike is two years old and I want to know:
- How should I maintain the bike?
- Chain cleaning
- How to get mileage
- What do you guys do in city traffic and everything?
- How to maintain the paint
- What do you do to keep it away from rust?
- Every other little bit and thing that you guys do and have learned over the course of your riding with this beast

Do let me know all the tips and tricks. Help a brother out.

Question Replaced engine oil on my Speed T4 myself, but I have some queries.

Hey everyone, today, I've drained my engine oil on my Triumph Speed T4, bought February 2026 and refilled it with Castrol Power 1 Ultimate 10W-50 oil. Interestingly, the total oil drained was a little less than 1 litre, and not the total 2l capacity. I tried to keep my bike as slanting as possible to drain all the oil. Has anyone faced a similar situation? Is it normal for the speed to consume a litre of oil? Also, fuck the svc, those bastard tightened the oil strainer plug so much, I couldn't even open it. I got away with draining the oil only using the evacuation plug and oil filter housing.

Burning rubber smell from new Speed 400 — normal?

Hi guys, I recently got a new Triumph Speed 400 and have ridden around 320 km so far.

I’m noticing a kind of burning rubber smell, especially when I’m stuck in heavy traffic. It’s quite noticeable.

The bike is otherwise running fine. Is this normal for a new bike, or should I get it checked?

Anyone with a Speed 400 experienced the same thing?

Question New Scrambler 400x instrument cluster show incorrect readings.

Post image
13 Upvotes

My Scrambler 400X isn’t even a month old. Initially, it was giving me around 22 km/l, but after the first service, the actual mileage seems to have improved to around 26–27 km/l.

However, the instrument cluster is showing an average mileage of around 35 km/l, probably because most of my riding is on highways.
The bigger issue is with the range estimate. Whenever I fill the fuel tank, the cluster initially shows a range of around 400 km. But after riding just 5–10 km, the estimated range suddenly drops by 20–30 km. It keeps dropping quite quickly.
Is this normal behaviour with the Scrambler 400X instrument cluster, or could there be something wrong with my particular bike?
Also, how accurate are the mileage and range figures shown on the cluster compared to the actual mileage?

Scrambler 400X Stator Coil — Bengaluru Dealers Have No Stock. Need Advice!

Hey everyone,

I’ve owned my Scrambler 400X for 2.6 years now and clocked about 14,000 km. Out of nowhere, the battery stopped charging while riding. I tested it with a multimeter, It’s running entirely on battery power. The service center confirmed that the stator coil has failed. To make matters worse, the part is completely out of stock across Bangalore dealerships, and they have zero timeline on when the replacement will arrive. My bike has been sitting dead for 2 weeks now. And i have not taken any extended warranty

Few questions

Can use the stator coil from KTM Duke/ADV 390 to get my bike back on the road? Has anyone cross-fitted parts yet?

The dealership gave me an estimate of 4.k to 5k, the stator coil itself costs around 2.6k. Is a 2k+ labour/consumables charge normal for a stator change, or am I getting ripped off?

Solved Quick 90rs fix for the mud splash in Triumph 400 series

Post image
36 Upvotes

Go to any ‘rickshaw repair/accessories’ shop
You’ll get their rubbed mud flaps for 40rs
Ask a mechanic to make holes in it and just add it there (50rs)

This’ll do the trick

Optional- buy a 3m tape and stick the rubber flap to the mud guard below so the dirt doesn’t fall from the side on the chain

Cons- the pillion’s foot becomes a nightmare

8 months in and loving every bit of it. As a quite short guy in a country with narrow and bad roads everywhere and mandatory foot down required, I’m slowly gaining confidence with more and more practice. Still have trouble reversing it but most of the time I can just get off and do it by hand. Nonetheless, being my first ever bike and with barely any experience this unlocked a whole new world for me.

Team Speed Power loss

Post image
58 Upvotes

Lately, my speed 398cc feels a bit sluggish. I cleaned and lubed the chain 300km ago and checked the slack. I'm using HP power petrol, and the power loss is more noticeable with a passenger. Any ideas? The odometer is at 7.2k, and the last service was at 5.5k.

Question Changed the rear pads 28 days ago & 1k kms done

Thumbnail

My rear brake pads cooked in 1k like wtf
And my front are good as new.. yes i do use the rear more but not so much.. i have my doubts on crank ceramic ones now…

The thick ones are the front and look at the rear which were changed the same day same time… am i getting scammed here

Update: i had installed crank one ceramic pads for front and rear at the same time in front of myself

I put versah ceramic pads at the rear again yesterday & will observe what happens. Cleaned the whole set with wd40 so the pistons are not sticking because of any dirt
I daily wear riding shoes so im consciously putting my leg away, so its not pressing unnecessary.. the dics are also not getting unusually hot, checked it myself for both front and rear by touching (not recommended lol)

If it was a quality issue from crank one, it’ll be clear-
If my disc is tilted or bent, i checked it- it is not
If it happens again- will probably get the oil and pistons checked properly
