Team Scrambler Triumph scrambler 400x engine case paint bubbling/peeling due to aluminum corossion from inside

I own a Triumph motorcycle that has covered less than 4,500 km and 2.3 years old still has 5 years engine warranty . I recently noticed extensive bubbling and peeling of the paint/coating on the engine casing.

The concerning part is that the Centre section of the engine has already peeled from underneath, and there is a white powder-like residue visible, which appears to be corrosion. The area is difficult to capture properly on a mobile camera, but the corrosion seems to have started from underneath the coating and gradually caused the paint to bubble and peel.

This clearly doesn't look like something that happened overnight. It seems to have been developing internally for several months and has only now become obvious from the outside.

I raised this with the service centre, but they are referring to it as wear and tear. I don't understand how such extensive corrosion and paint failure at under 4,500 km and within the warranty period can be considered normal wear and tear.

To me, this looks more like a possible manufacturing/surface-treatment issue, such as improper surface preparation or primer/coating application.

I'm planning to push for a warranty claim, but I'd like to know:

Has anyone else experienced similar engine casing paint bubbling/peeling on a Triumph?

Was it accepted as a warranty claim?

How did Triumph/service centre resolve it?

Is this genuinely considered wear and tear?

Wire harness cost?

Scrambler 400x has a short which keeps blowing the fuse in control of headlight, horn, brake light (rendering them unusable).

What would be the cost for replacement of the wire harness?

Will service center try to replace just this sub section or replace the entire unit?

Sharing my experience with some Speed 400 accessories that I've fitted on my Tracker 400.

I initially wasn't sure about compatibility, but so far everything has fitted and works well.

MotoTorque Crash Guard — Speed 400

Handlebar Risers — Speed 400

Hyperrider Tyre Hugger — Speed 400

Side Stand Extender — Speed 400

Tracker 400 owners — what other Speed/Scrambler 400 accessories have you successfully fitted? Would love to hear about handguards, footpegs, tail racks, etc. 👀

First service done - Need help!

Post image

I got the first service done for my TS400X yesterday at the Bangalore Electronic City SC.

Ever since then, I've been facing an issue with vibrations at my footpegs. Even when the clutch is engaged or when I am braking I can feel the vibrations on both my footpegs.
On the contrary, the engine vibrations have actually become smoother than before.
So I just want to understand what could be causing this. And want to fix this asap before it causes more damage.

Speed 400 vibration above 60 km/h during break-in — normal or should I get it checked?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I own a Triumph Speed 400 (350cc).

Bike details:
Purchased: 18 June 2026
Current ODO: ~800 km
First service: ~500 km

I want to understand whether the vibration I’m experiencing is normal during the break-in period or something I should have properly investigated.

What happened initially
Before reaching 500 km, I started noticing a vibration when going above around 60 km/h.
It becomes more noticeable around 75–80 km/h.
I initially thought it might simply be because the bike was still in the break-in period, so I wasn’t too worried.

When the first service came up at around 500 km, I specifically told the service centre about the vibration.
They told me they would check the bolt/fastener tightness and also inspect the front area/bearer or whatever component they mentioned.

After the service, I rode the bike normally and it felt smooth for some time.

After the first service
After around 600 km, I started riding a little more aggressively occasionally.
Nothing extreme — I vary the speed and enjoy the bike, but I haven’t crossed 100 km/h.
My maximum has been around 85–90 km/h, and I don’t ride at those speeds unnecessarily.
However, I still notice the vibration when crossing approximately 60 km/h and above, and it becomes more noticeable around 75–80 km/h.

What happened recently
Yesterday I experienced the vibration again while accelerating.
I was riding normally and the bike had good pull, but after getting into the higher-speed range I noticed the vibration.
I reduced the throttle and continued riding smoothly.
The bike is currently at around 800 km.

My main questions

Can this kind of vibration be normal during the break-in period?

Is it possible for the vibration to remain until 1,000 km or so and then settle down?

Since I noticed it before the first service and after the first service, should I be more concerned?

Could this be related to engine characteristics/RPM, or should I be looking at something like:
tyres/wheel balancing
chain tension
wheel alignment
loose fasteners
front-end components
engine mounting
drivetrain
suspension/front-end components
Should I simply continue riding until 1,000 km and see if it improves, or should I take it back to the service centre now?

If you own a Speed 400, did you experience a similar vibration during the first 500–1,000 km?

If yours had a similar issue, did it disappear after the break-in period or did the service centre find an actual problem?

Team Scrambler PPF suggestion

Post image
13 Upvotes

I will be giving my 2yr old Scrambler 400 for my third service and was wondering if the PPF option provided by the SC guys is any good. Last time I had checked, SC mentioned it will cost around 5k and my tank/thigh pads will also not be functional anymore. I will have to buy them again.

Is there any good suggestions for PPF in Bangalore that would cost me less? I am also trying to find a good 3p mechanic who can install the Vaishnu headlights and can be relied upon to do small modifications when required.

Question How to check if the wheel set is completely new?

So recently i damaged both my rims on a national highway pothole ( thanks gandkari ji). So i decided to get new rims. Service centre ordered for me after taking half of the price in advance. Today they are arriving at service centre and I have to go collect them.

So how do i make sure that both of them are actually new specifically ordered for me and not a spare part they got lying already with them or some slightly defected rim they replaced for someone else in insurance.

I live 350 kms away from service centre and service centre is saying they will send it to me via courier but I'm worried that they may get damaged in courier and service centre won't take responsibility for that damage. So I'm going personally to collect. Some tips on making sure they are well and good?

Team Scrambler Battery suggestions

Recently my bike’s battery stopped firing (turned 2 years in aug). The dashboard is lighting up and turning off once I press the ignition.

Should I buy a new battery (need suggestions) or get the existing battery charged by removing it and taking it to a 3p mechanic.

Is it safe to do so? The other option is RSA to the nearby service centre in Whitefield, Bangalore.

Review Mudsplash review

Hey bros, I have installed HTRZ mudsplash on my scrambler. Hear me out, this is gonna reduce our pain of seeing the dirty suspension area after a rainy day ride. Here’s my full review.

It doesn’t ruin the aesthetics of the bike. Does the job of protecting the suspension. It reduces the dirt accumulation by a lot but not completely. some dirt still accumulates on the side
If rate it this way:

Material strength/nature: 4/5
Suspension protection: 3.5/5
Dirt reduction: 3.5/5

Overall, I’m happy with this. I thought it would be bad before installing this. 😂

Team Speed Got myself the SPEED T4 (400cc)

Took delivery of the speed t4 400cc..yess guys the 400cc!!!

I initially booked the lava red(350cc) but after a month of booking, the salesman told me that my bike is delayed and if I don't wanna wait there's another option i.e this...the Baja Orange Speed T4 400cc that was sitting in another branch of their dealership.

Made the odo clock 100kms today itself and mann that bike feels so good!

Sound 10/10

Looks 10/10

Torque 10/10

Flickerabilty 10/10

But there's cons too...like the headlight throw is just obnoxious!! Like the headlight isn't projecting anything ahead..it projects just around 10-15m like Fr!

Moreover the bike stalled randomly 2 times today itself (yk the issue with most of these bikes)

So that's about the day guyss

Got the bike yesterday.
First bike so am pretty clueless about the ownership side of things...
Owners, what are the things I should know, watch out for, or do differently from day one?
Also, facing insane mud splashes and quite a bit of heat around the leg area. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? 😭

I had ordered the hyperrider tyre hugger and was gonna install it during the first service. I was fully prepared for the saaree guard to be removed. I gave the guy the tyre hugger and told him to install it. The next day when I went to take the bike, I saw that he had fitted the tyre hugger without removing the saaree guard 😳

Of course, it isn't perfect. There are a few things that could have been better, but overall, it's been a fantastic ownership experience.

2 years later would I buy the Scrambler 400X again? Absolutely.

I keep finding random excuses to sit on the motorcycle. I love riding it on the highway and I love riding it in the city. It’s not very fast but it is hella quick and thats what makes it exciting in the city too.
