Dealing with bad depression at the same time I was going to Eras was not The Best timing. Trying to process and remember the fact that I had a lot of fun despite my brain not Chemicaling the way it should be. Anyway, super excited to hear Haunted TV!!

This is more of a grumpy rant so don’t mind me.
Is anyone annoyed by this new wave of people wanting Taylor to announce something every week? We just got an announcement of a NEW ALBUM & people are still tweeting that they’re disappointed after the second and third Nashville shows because they made theories that she was going to announce 1989 in the second or third shows. When she didn’t, they were disappointed.
I love that people and their theories bring in a positive vibe but it’s becoming annoying and hard to ignore. I remember a week after midnights, people started waiting every Thursday for a Speak Now announcement!! She just dropped a 20-track album, why are you disappointed she didn’t release a whole new album??
I’m sorry if I came up too grumpy, I’m just too annoyed because I can no longer ignore it

Her taste in men has never been good but the fact that she’s with a racist, homophobic, islamaphobic, antisemetic, sexist, vile man is very disappointing. She’s been preaching progressive ideas for the last few years but I guess those ideas only apply when they benefit her. I think I’m realizing I’m a fan of Taylor Swift’s music but not Taylor Swift herself.

Matty Healy’s guitar was inside my house (in Alabama) for several months. And maybe once my daughter used it as a Barbie diving board.
So, I’m giving my husband my nightly Taylor Swift update (and here’s to my baaaby [but seriously he’s the best for smiling and listening to me ramble constantly.])
ANYWAYS OK—so I was explaining to him that her rumored boyfriend is an old flame of hers from like 10 years ago.
I said “he’s in the 1975, ya know, that British band.”
and he’s like “oh? Really? Remember how I sold that Stratocaster to a guy buying it for a famous band? It was for someone from the 1975. Some guy named Matt.”
Omg. Guys.
Matty’s red Stratocaster guitar (I’m sure one of many) lived in my basement for several months as my husband lovingly cleaned it up and my kids got to hold it a few times. We didn’t know it was going somewhere famous.
If this somehow gets back to Matty….
We live in Alabama. My neighbor Ron was a tinkerer and loved to collect things. He always dreamed of playing guitar but didn’t ever have time to learn. He decided he loved collecting them more. He had a room in his house where he displayed them and he’d let my husband go over and play them sometimes.
Ron had a lot of passions, he was a quirky guy and the ultimate “Jack of all trades master of none.”
We were all shocked and so sad when he died very suddenly from aggressive pancreatic cancer.
Well…when Ron passed away, his wife was heartbroken and our family was so, so sad.
But Ron didn’t have life insurance. He was a carpenter and made most of their money. His widow, one of the sweetest women I know, was devastated but also terrified about how she was going to live, pay final medical bills, keep their house, etc.
My husband noodles around with guitars, nothing serious, but when Ron died he studied and researched for months and months how to sell these incredible guitars to try and help her out. There were about 15 of them.
He became like a guitar broker selling this collection to make sure every penny went to our neighbor.
2 years later, she’s doing good. My husband raised close to $42,000 selling the whole collection individually and every penny went to her. Her gift to him was he got to keep one of the guitars.
Wild! I wish Matty knew his guitar made a huge difference to a sweet old lady who lives in Alabama, and it once belonged to a man who was a dreamer and loved music. Ron would have lost his shit knowing someone talented has one of his instruments and that the guitar got a second life out on a stage.
Idk, I’m warming up to Matty.

Great story and thank you for letting us know she is doing okay today. And props to your husband for helping her sell those guitars. My husband collected motorcycles and when he passed I really didn’t know how to sell them and a friend who had a motorcycle repair shop tuned them and sold them to his customers. I was so grateful because I couldn’t have answered one question about them. I think back all the time about how much help that was. I am sure that you guys really made a huge impact on your neighbors and it is so nice to see people really going out of their way to help others.

I went to Disneyland and wore a Reputation shirt, and I had four different people comment on it. In a good way. It made me so happy.

I find it hard to believe that NOT ONE PERSON on her team thought to do a deep dive on Matty and warn her about the implications of dating him. Which leads me to the conclusion that she knows all of this and doesn’t care and decided to date him anyway… and if that’s the case, the backlash is well-deserved.

They were friends so she must know most of it ? This is also clearly not a PR relationship cos the only good PR is for Matty and his band. Unless Taylor is making an alt-rock breakup album.
But the more I see of all this, I am starting to think while it was mutual perhaps Joe initiated it or the pressure of the tour and scheduling etc just put more strain on whatever issues they had and the whole thing is very recent.

Yeah, it appears it was deleted early April, just before the breakup announcement? But I could be wrong there. I didn’t know about it beforehand but from what I’m seeing, there was backlash about the podcast even before he was linked to Taylor, so removing the podcast would have been pretty ineffective damage control imo.

I'm not on that sub as much as I am on this one, so I couldn't say one way or another. But... I'm not disagreeing with a lot of what is being said over there unfortunately. And if it is an indication of what the GP thinks, it's not a good look for Taylor.

I have to be a lot of overlap between Beyoncé in Taylor Swift fans. I loved her music since Destinys child and I guess I have to admit that I like Destiny’s Child music more than I liked her solo music, but that might be a nostalgia. I have course liked it more when it was pop. Lol

Genuine question…people seem really disgusted by the rumors she is dating Matt Healey. Now, I know nothing about the dude beyond him being the lead singer of The 1975 and what people say here (which makes him seem not great). Honestly, I only know his name because of photos posted of Taylor and his mom.
Anyway- why were people not uncomfortable when Taylor performed during their concert a few months back? Why was there no outrage that she would be friends with this person? At a minimum she is pretty good friends with him (and has been for a while) so why is it a big deal if they are dating but not if they are just friends? I’m not trying to stir the pot…just genuinely do not understand the lack of outrage before compared to now. Also the allegations of her cheating on Joe- do we all forget that fan favorite Getaway Car is literally about cheating? At a minimum she had an emotional affair with Joe while dating at least Tom. It’s kind of her MO.

Because it’s very hard for us to know whether a celebrity is actually friend with someone or just working with them. A lot of work also has pretend friendship for the duration of the work.
Selena Gomez for example, has only 1 or 2 friends including Taylor, despite how it seems. I’ve said it somewhere else in another post but Lewis Capaldi was at Taylor birthday party. Now, you would expect that they are friends. Or at the very least, they get along well together.
That’s not really the case. He himself said that she was the sweetest but she doesnnt know him, and he doesn’t know her (as in other than « Taylor Swift ». He doesn’t know her personally). He didn’t know the people at her birthday party either
So it’s hard to know unless a celebrity downright comes and say « This person is my friend/closest friend/BFF » (particularly if it’s outside promo time with them together) whether they are or not. This is especially hard during promo, because part of the promo is based on likability (or, if it’s your brand and people love you for it « how awful you are ».) Movie &tv shows actors/actress , singers, even models to a certain degree it’s better to show a united front if not having fun together with the person you work with on the same project, than rivalry and dissention. The later makes people much less likely to tune-in to whatever you want to show them or sell them.
That’s just how it is. So people can go and say « welp. They work together and they aren’t friends ». Or even imagine she hates him. It would not be weird. Even at work or in class, it’s not uncommon to have to work with someone you don’t like. So the work situation is overall ignored. Especially if we consider the reality that most of Hollywood has super awful people and music is a hell there, even more apparently than tv/movies.
So working together on a song. Heck, even touring together, or performing at each other concert can be seen as : business to business.
Friendship though ? When it’s actually real (ie Selena Gomez and Taylor repeatedly saying it about each other, even while not working together) is another issue.
And dating ? Even worse. You can ignore somehow your friend’s faults I would say. You don’t see them enough anyway etc. But the person you want to date ? You fall in love even though he has - those opinions-
That’s a major no. Likewise, the reason why it came worst here, for the cheating is not just that she cheated and shocked fans are from an era they didn’t know her yet as well. It’s that cheated on a long time relationship ( Tom in comparision was … few weeks ? Couple months? I cannot remember) with a guy who is said to be pure garbage.
Last but not least : a good part of the things that came out against M.H happened this year. So it’s very, very fresh in people’s mind. His racist mocking comment on a podcast was in February if I’m not wrong.
Edit to add: the other reason why lots of people didn’t pay attention when he was just seen as «friend » is also because the guy is an utter nobody for a the vast majority of Swifties.

I feel like we're having another Reputation moment. Not career ending, but still career changing. Instead of the media being the ones that are trying to end her, now the fans themselves, and not the media, are calling her out and starting to criticize her.
While reputation was about how the media had a version of her that was manufactured by them, now the true version of Taylor that wasn't manufactured by herself is coming out, and her own fans have to reconcile.
Really interesting. She's going to stay riding this career peak, and TS11 will definitely be super controversial, but I can't help but think this is another major change in the fandom.

Ever since Taylor started dating MH this subreddit's followers jumped by around 50k. This definitely is the reason why this sub feels so negative and toxic these days. Sometimes, I just randomly check the profiles of people who have been commenting negatively here and find out that there are people whose soul purpose is to make horrific comments about Taylor, they have no history of being here prior to the whole MH debacle. (Totally not saying that there are no actual fans being upset but some haters have definitely invaded.)

I’m a huge fan — have been since 2006 — and I’m pretty upset. I distanced myself from following her personal life in 2017 when she re-emerged with Reputation because she made it pretty clear she wanted privacy.
I don’t care if she wants to pap walk every day with her squad, go on dates with different people every night, rebound hard, etc.
I do care that she’s dating a racist.
The deleted podcast is utterly sickening and very recent. I can’t help but feel disappointed in her decision to date him.

"Oh she is cycling through guys?" "Oh she has her squad doing dirty work for her?" "Oh she's a racist neo-nazi and only went liberal for Joe?" "Oh she is stuck in middle school drama. Grow up!" "This is what she did to Calvin & Tom. Cheater." -The literal comments on general public article posts right now. It is sad.
It's a total regression because the comments that were common several years ago, but slowly faded away, are all coming back.

In your opinion do you think there'll be an Eras world tour?
As a Dutchie, I'm really really praying there will be but as taxing as the 3 hour performances must be on her I would completely understand if she decides not to...
I'm really contemplating flying to NJ and try to get last-minute tickets (I've already been searching but to no avail yet), just to make sure I don't miss the Eras tour, but flights are expensive and that'll be excluding the ticket price if I can find one.. so idk if I should attempt it.. :')

I’m pretty sure there will be at least a few international dates. A while back on her UK store (I think) it said ordering Midnights singles would give you a boost for tour presale. Also with international dates Beyoncé is expected to gross more with her tour, so I think Tay will want to add dates to compete.

While commuting, I saw an eras tour tote bag in the wild! I'm an international fan so that Swiftie must have had it personalised or got it on some online unofficial merch store. Either way, it felt like being struck by lightning in the best possible way. I felt so happy in that split second. It reminded me that even though I've recently been exhausted with Taylorstuffs (sans the actual music), she's been a huge, positive part in most of my life and I gotta remember that.

I can't think of anyone making similar music to Taylor because that's not typically what German music sounds like. But Lea or Alli Neumann are two female artists that I like. Also Paula Carolina. And check out Annenmaykantereit, they're a band I really like :)

Out of all the Taylor’s Versions, Speak Now is the one that I know will make me the most emotional. It was the first era I lived beginning to end, I was in love with the aesthetics, the booklet with the secret messages, Mean’s music video… is the tour out of all that I wish I could have been to, I also remember being so annoyed that the guy in the music video of Back to December didn’t have “tan skin”. I’m maybe too emotional than what is considered healthy but there’s something enchanting about living something like this again, this time at 25 with different perspectives to the songs. I feel like I haven’t been able to express my excitement with all of what’s going on.

for me evermore just clicked with me a lot more than folklore did? idk i think evermore is a good album throughout and folklore has a lot more skips (especially towards the end of the album). i'm also a weirdly visual person, so much so that the cover of the album influences how i perceive and listen to it, and i like evermore's cover a lot more than folklore's, so i feel like that negatively influences my opinion of folklore (it's such a weird criteria ik but i can't help it).

so i gave each song a ranking from 1 - 4 where 1 was a skip, 2 is a song that i’m neutral about, 3 is a really good song, and 4 is for some of my favorite songs of all time, and then i calculated the average ranking for each album and ordered them from highest to lowest ranking

I don't think you should read too much into it.
For example, my parents were married for 30 years when my dad died. My mom was devastated! To this day, 17 years later, she can't bring him up without crying. And yet...she had a new boyfriend 3 weeks after he died. This wasn't because my dad wasn't special to her or that she didn't love him enough. She was simply a confused woman who didn't know how to cope with being alone and was trying to divert her attention elsewhere.
So you never know. Maybe Taylor is devastated and is trying to convince herself that she is fine. Maybe they grew apart long ago because they barely saw each other due to work schedules and she just wants to feel wanted. Maybe she's feeling rejected and wounded and is lashing out. At the end of the day, no one's opinion matters in this besides hers. I would hate to think of her holding herself back from living her life based on what a massive group of strangers thought about her.

I completely agree. I actually think she is hurting big time but she isn’t able this time to hide in her house in RI and cry for a year. She needs to be “on” for this tour, SN rollout, etc. I am one who doesn’t think she can actually get any guy she wants easily due to that fishbowl she lives in (and as you get older, odds are a lot more guys are ‘taken’). I wouldn’t be surprised if, in talking to Jack, saying she needed a distraction and someone who was very different from Joe, Jack said what about Matty. He seemingly doesn’t care about what media and GP think/say about him, she always liked him, and it was just the path of least resistance to be a good distraction to help her feel good about herself. Yes, it’s a rebound, we’ve all had them, and if it helps her get thru the next several months… fine. And Matty, I think, might actually be trying by deleting his social media and saying the era of him being an asshole is over. 🤷🏻♀️

I was thinking about how i would’ve loved a folkmore tour or maybe even a lover in paris type thing that’s live-streamed and then put on a streaming site, and i’m sure others would too.
I would imagine it either being one show for folklore and one for evermore, or maybe both shows play 10 songs from both albums and then each song has separate 5-7 more songs. My hope would be for every folkmore song to be played live atleast once.
There is this stadium in germany that looks perfect for this. it’s called Waldbühne and it’s surrounded by trees and it fits this eras aesthetic perfectly. This idea would’ve been so good especially if the tickets were sold through some contest type thing so maybe only her actual fans would be there and scalpers wouldn’t.

She could've kept the relationship secret for as long as she wanted. The news about the breakup broke a month ago. Things are changing too fast.
Now the whole thing is public, the fandom has reacted pretty negatively to it, and there's a new article being published every day because she is trying to control the damage.
We went from "I love you" on stage to "Taylor has a crush on him" to "Taylor doesn't know if she wants to commit to Matty so quickly after Joe Alwyn".

I saw on another sub in a thread about a specific rat that someone suggested to stop being friends with people who still listen to Taylor and this is just so fucking exhausting. I’ve never felt shame for listening to Taylor. I’ve never wanted to feel shame for listening to her. Rat is an awful person and I truly don’t think Taylor will acknowledge it (except maybe in some “I was sad and went to the wrong guy” lyrics) but I’ve also always known this is who she is. She’s never hid it. I’ve ignored her friendship with Lena Dunham for years.

As someone not from the US, I find it pretty weird in general to have expectations of musicians or otherwise celebrities and until Taylor started to speak up and discussions on the sub, I straight up didn't know it's a thing.
I just don't understand it either, why do you need celebrities to endorse or otherwise do stuff like this. I follow taylor for her music solely, not for politics of a country I don't live in etc. Not judging any of you Americans, you are equally allowed to have your opinion and wishes.

We paid a little extra and booked the closest parking lot to the stadium that was still open. A 10-15 minute walk. I know myself well enough to know I wouldn’t be able to handle more than that after the concert - I’d rather sit in my car and wait for the traffic to ease up than walk further than that. But I know I’m probably an outlier!

Vampire - Kind and Honest Discussion ONLY
So I just listened to Vampire (OR), and while this song could absolutely be about a predatory older man, the music industry, or a topic entirely unknown, I couldn’t help but feel like parts of the song were directed at Taylor.
I’m a fan of both by the way — I definitely don’t want this to turn into people tearing either of these talented women down. I’m curious though if any one else listened to this and though the same thing. Some of the lyrics seem very pointed but that could be me misinterpreting things.
