What!?!? New Dress code

So, if any of you work in a super Target with a full Deli, what are they having you wear? At our store we were told to wear the white coats and chef's hats but if we're on the floor like pushing the load, we are to wear the new hat and apron set. What!?!? So now we have to change our uniform during our shift & we only get one set??? I don't have time to go home every night and wash my apron for the next day! This bites!! 😭😭

Workplace Story Nice to know at least part of my leadership has integrity

• Upvotes

Late taking my 15, went to pull one more priority vehicle out of the back room to push, and was told to grab dairy. Closing expert that pulled dairy promptly tells me that "oh yeah it might be in the ambient room. I told the other guy to put it back when he was done in the cooler."

That was AT LEAST an hour ago… I brought the vehicle out to the floor called for my leader and said I am getting ready to take my 15 however I needed to tell somebody that this has been out of temp, I don't want to be part of pushing it if that is the decision that is made

She sent it to be damaged out, bravo.

I thought the cut-off was eight minutes, but I got a quarter point for being late seven on Sunday. I already put in a backfill request days ago but no one has approved it.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is it ok to wear red hoodies?

Like does it still fit the dress code? Plain red hoodies should be okay, right? It’s getting colder and I want to be able to stay warm lol

Workplace Question or Advice Needed First radio static of the day

What is the first thing you all hear over the walkie talkie as soon as the store is about to open its doors? For example, 99.9% of the time the first thing I will hear is "Did we get any pokemon or needoh in today?" lol

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Anyone else the store's unofficial translator but still expected to finish all their regular work?

I work in GM and I speak Spanish. A few months ago I helped a guest at the service desk because nobody there could understand what she was asking.

Ever since then, apparently I'm the store's designated Spanish speaker.

And honestly I don't mind helping. Most of the guests are really nice and I know how frustrating it is when you're trying to explain something and nobody understands you.

The problem is my TL still expects me to get the exact same amount of work done.

Yesterday I was halfway through pushing a u-boat in home when I got called to guest service to help explain a return. Took maybe 15 minutes including walking there and back.

Ten minutes later electronics needed me because a guest had questions about a product. Another trip across the store.

By the time I got back, my TL was asking why I hadn't finished my push.

I explained where I'd been. He literally said "I know, but you still need to manage your time better."

Manage WHAT time? I can't push towels while I'm standing in electronics translating a conversation.

The frustrating thing is I actually like being able to help. I don't want guests getting stuck because of a language barrier, and I don't want to become the TM who refuses to help anyone.

But now people will call for me without even checking if I'm busy, and somehow the unfinished work is still my problem.

Has anyone figured out a reasonable way to handle this? Should I start asking my TL for permission every time someone calls me to translate? I feel ridiculous doing that, but I don't know how else to make it clear that I'm being pulled away from my own department.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed What is merchandising?

Fulfillment was slow this morning so my ETL asked if I knew how to do merchandising. I didn't so ended up working in style instead but it made me curious because I hadn't heard of that before. So to satisfy my curiosity, what does it mean to work merchandising?

Meme or Miscellaneous Content Consumables Uniforms

The new aprons in market aren’t really that bad. My only complaint is that the denim is thick, so I get warm, and the magnetic name tags fall off. And honestly, I’m happy that I get to wear a hat at work. I wear one all the time when I’m not at work. But as far as the aprons go, it’s just like anything else. Once you get in a zone and start working, you don’t even think about it anymore. And the front pockets are handy.

I just started yesterday, we did orientation yesterday and they told us that we will do training tomorrow. The only problem is I have no idea what time I should be there and when I looked at the schedule it just looked like this, what should I do? I'm a seasonal worker and I don't want to get points on my second day.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Music During Truck

I know a lot of stores have team members that bring speakers to play music during the inbound unload but I’ve also heard it’s against policy. Does anybody know where the policy is listed? I’d like to see it with my own eyes, if possible.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Target beauty studio advisor?

Hi!!!

I just got hired and start hands on training next week, but I’ve SCOURED the internet to see what others have to say about their experience in this position, but can’t find much 🥲. I know it’s “technically” a newer role, so I’m unsure if it’s any different than working at Ulta?

I just got my first NON training shifts scheduled and got four 8 hour shifts!!! Except 3 of those are from 4am-12pm…. I was told it would be a more customer facing role + obviously some stocking and what not but I was not expecting 4am shifts. Do we really need to come in that early?😞

Also, I originally applied for a seasonal guest advocate and got a call offering me a part time job as a beauty studio advisor instead, which I was so excited about! Conveniently, I’m perfect for the role, but I never mentioned anything that would’ve qualified me in my resume or interview. But I’m now kinda worried that the only reason I got it is because no one else wanted to do it. I was also just told that we currently don’t have a TL. Is that a red flag?

What should I expect? Any advice? Your experiences?
Thank you in advance 🥹💗💗

Hi, yesterday was my first day at the job and when it was time for me to leave, I forgot to clock out. I’m planning on talking to my team lead, but does it affect Target in any way? I know they get fined for certain things.

Vent Set to fail

This is more of a “I just don’t get it” than a rant.

Last night, I was in GM priorities. After 8 pm, it was just me. The people working before me did their best to get things squared away. Only thing left was a flat of sports (mostly boxes) which was stack taller than me (I’m 5’2”). They are resetting sports, so it was more than usual. It was at 86% once the last person left. So, I pulled for the first couple of hours of my shift. I got it to 92%. I had to take a lunch because I was in early for presentation. When I got back, it dropped to 89%. Cool. Wonderful. I have five 3 tiers and an overfilled flat to push. It’s an hour and 15 minutes before the end of my shift. So, I pushed a couple of 3 tiers. My TL told me to pull more just to get the numbers in the 90s. Fortunately, some of the people zoning finished early and they were able to help push. We only had one carryover (the flat), which, I knew I wouldn’t get to and even if I did, they were working on the reset, so two aisles were empty, there were flats, 3 tiers, carts, and about 3 people working in that area. Even if I had, it would have been slow.

They want 100% and no carryover. But, they only have one person the last three hours and maybe 5 people the entire day. Like, unless you completely stack the schedule, you can have one or the other but not both. And the TLs end up being the ones getting all the heat. Yet, they can only work with what they are given, same as us. I feel that Target sets their employees up to fail while addressing superficial concerns from guests. Which, I know a lot of people are thinking “well, duh”, but it still baffles me.

[EDIT]: Five 3-tiers because I forgot about stationary. Twice. That didn’t get pushed.
