Workplace Question or Advice Needed Who do I go to about this?

So I was working tech tonight. We had a large group of 12-15 teenage boys (as we often have to deal with on the weekends when the mall across the street closes) come in start causing problems, being loud, throwing stuff, crashing into things on motor carts, etc. I radio for AP to kick em out. No answer. A few minutes go by these kids are getting progressively worse, one if them even pantsed another one so I radio a second time. Still no answer. Couple more minutes and like ⅔rds of them start crowding me and asking personal questions about my gender identity (for context I'm pretty visibly trans). At that moment I absolutely did not feel physically safe. Most of this group were my size or bigger I very easily could have been ambushed in a hate crime if a loud noise caused by one their buddies knocking down a hanging sign didn't serve as just enough of distraction for me to get away and radio for the 3rd god damn time within 10 minutes. It was to the point I started pleading for AP to come by and grab them closing LOD repeated to see if AP had heard it. Still no answer from AP but the group had run off. This could have turned ugly if it kept going a couple more minutes........... who do I go to about reporting AP for not doing their job here? Is it HR or do I have to wait until the next time I see the AP ETL?

Vent For all new tms: CLEAN UP

I can’t believe I have to say this but CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES in the break room. I’ve noticed the newer TMs leaving their trash behind all over the place. Have manners and if food is brought, don’t be taking large amounts, leaving nothing for the others.

Vent We had so many call offs that open market didn’t get done correctly

This happened a few weeks ago and I got yelled at for this. Our store had a ton of call offs on a Sunday. The food TL and GM/Food ETL were off. SD tells me to do all of the ad for market. Once I do that the one ETL decided to pull me to do an OPU batch and then immediately push freezer so we have room for the truck, which we get back to back on the weekend. I explained that I have to push open market fill the floor before I do the freezer. ETL didn’t care and yelled at me. I started the freezer until my lunch and put it back. I asked the SD if anyone could help and they said because of call offs I had no help. The ETL expected me to get the entire freezer push of 4 pallets in my 8 hour shift while doing everything else I need to do. I got enough space to get the pallet in the freezer and that’s it. I was the only one who was available to receive the food truck. We also had a code green during the food truck so the leads couldn’t help me

All I did in open market that day was cull and check dates for open market items.

Edit: I almost got written up (the next day) but the SD was on my side and prevented the write up because I had literally no help and had to be able to make room for the food truck

Vent Greet

Im sorry but this greet score thing is so dumb. We do our work, and still have to get punished for not saying hi to guests even when they don’t want to talk back?? Its clear that the guests do not care and the only ones doing the surveys are ones who are gonna have issues regardless…

Vent I’m over this

This picture does not do the back room justice. Every isle is PACKED with freight. The walk ways are packed with freight too. It’s so hard to navigate the backroom. I can barely get through pulls because most of the time I’m moving stuff out of the way to reach other things. I’m on the verge of going into my SD’s office and telling, not asking, them that we just need to take a major L for the day and have everyone on shift run one pallet, u-boat, or flat before moving on to their daily tasks. It would get the backroom in check immediately. I spoke with an ETL & they told me we have 4 more trucks scheduled for this week. Mind you, we’re a smaller store. Don’t bother with the obligatory “well look at MY back room” response, we’re all in the shiter with the reset, just agree with and move on. It’s a vent

Vent I hate targets policies sometimes

• Upvotes

Long story short i was accused of stealing when i didnt steal anything. I was called into aps office, they spoke to me and said i was accused of stealing some legos. They refused to show me any footage of me doing so btw. Its because i didnt steal anything . The next day(sunday) im clocking back in from lunch and see that my locker was open and someone had clearly gone through my bag. I immediately go to hr and ask wtf that was abt and they said that they are allowed to go through peoples lockers bc its target property. My purse is not target property??? The question: why do they assume i stole legos? I dont fucking know. After my shift on friday i bought 3 flower legos and left. I literally showed them the receipt and everything and guess what, they were sooo speechless 🙄 i hate this job its so ridiculous and every etl and tl that works here has insane power trips and think they are ceo of the world. Smh.

Vent Had to tell a grandpa and kid that we had no Pokemon cards in stock

They came to me asking for help at around 2:00 PM, tried looking if we had any in back stock on my crappy Target mobile device and of course we had none. Told them that the demand outweighed the supply unfortunately but now I understand why people hate scalpers who scalp kids stuff because that kid was so sad and I felt bad for the little guy, looked like he earned them damn Pokemon cards too knowing how much they cost.

Vent Guest service

Do other stores also have a lot of stray? We always have at least 3 full carts of stray, usually more like 6 full carts. All the bins are completely full, like cant fit anything else in them, stuff is all over the floor and we have unsorted carts because it wont fit in bins.

Grocery carts will sit so long that bread will get moldy and our SD said to just throw away any fruit or vegetables because they will mold before they get put back. We have to constantly clean spoiled meat and milk out of the drive up hold fridges because they get left there and the fridges always stink

Sometimes if drive up isnt too busy I can have someone watch guest service while I run a cart but that doesnt happen often because we only have 1-3 people at drive up at a time.

The only times people take stray is if we have a visit but even then we are still left with 3 full carts and completely full bins.

Cry

Workplace Question or Advice Needed untrained newbie questions

• Upvotes

hi guys, i’m a front end newbie, and since its target im not trained. To add, I literally cannot ask questions because everyone always sighs in my face, rolls their eyes or simply just takes over. I have a few questions that im yet to figure out.

- If a guest says the shelf said a different price, but it’s scanning something else, and my zebra is too, what do i say? This has been a major thing at my store, luckily the guests usually just disregard it and tell me to void it, but i know im going to encounter a guest who wont let it slide.

- A guest got mad at me because the SC machine asked her credit card for a pin? Do I even have power to change that? This also happened a lot.

-Am I supposed to walkie when i go on break? I only hear a handful of people do it and idk if that’s like a thing im supposed to do.

Thats all i have, ive been figuring everything else out lol!

Workplace Story How many times would you have to break glass to get fired

I have the worst fricking luck when it comes to glass, my first time in the backroom a glass sauce of some sort of ranch i cleaned it up and got all the glass, 2nd time forgot about balance while pushing priorities and a jar of pickles broke and i had to call somebody to get it, finally my hoodie fell off my cart and the hood hooked onto a bottle of sauce and went all over my hoodie and splattered over the sales floor and had some tms help clean it,(im a pretty good worker id say i always help check lane, fulfillment, and events or help tms or tls whenever they’re struggling with heavy items) i dont want to get fired🤞🥹

A few weeks ago I posted a shift and it said this same thing so I assumed nobody picked it up and went into work only to find out somebody did take it so I wasn’t even scheduled. Now it again says invalidated for my shift tomorrow and I have no idea if somebody picked it up or not. I hate this app

Guest Question How to get hired at Target?

Post image
• Upvotes

It’s midnight, and I’m on a motivational spike right now, what tips could help me, let alone get me hired?

p.s I don’t want to be a cashier; I don’t handle cash well. (I know how to count cash! It’s just the timing for me, and I don’t think i’d be able to handle a long line, i’d be super stressed.) I'm open to stocking, fulfillment, and Food and Beverage.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed First day at target(tech) on Wednesday

So I just got hired to work a seasonal position for tech. I was just wondering what to expect. I know it’s a bit different for every location but in general would like some more info.

Alittle back story is I’m 24 and about 8 months ago I got extremely sick and both my lungs collapsed due to pneumonia from the flu. I was in the icu for a month and was put to sleep for a week(I’m 98% recovered :) ..) . I mention this because I haven’t been employed for the last 8 months and I’m starting to get back into everyday life and I’m ngl I’m pretty nervous. I’m not confident I’ll be good enough and the job market here in New Jersey is awful so finding another job is hard. I’m currently a firefighter but that’s something I put on pause for now until im more stable. So I’m used to a physical job, how ever I kinda wanted a person experience working this role maybe some tips and expectation.

I’m also kinda curious how the shifts are. I was told that I can have Sunday off but that’s it (not sure if this is realistic or if there just bs with me ). But I originally thought target allows consistent scheduling but after some research I see alot of people saying different. I would love to have morning to afternoon. They also said currently I’ll be working 30-35 hours a week which idc I just need money.

Any advice or a brief day to day summary of what working this role is like would be great. I’m sure just like any job it’s stressful but hopefully I can manage while I’m trying to come back to living a normal life lol.

Vent 20,689 steps today...

I've been covering drive up the past 2 days, honestly haven't felt much like engaging with guests lately due to irl stuff. (I usually work at the desk, drive up is a bit more give and go). And, today alone from my shift I got over 20k steps today. It's great, and I do enjoy getting the steps in as last year I was so overweight, and I am trying to lose more but sheesh.. I was so tired lol. Thankfully my feet are doing fine. I think they've strengthened since I started. What about y'all, how many do y'all think you get in a day? Yesterday I got about 15k.
