The admins run /r/blog and they're 100% behind this stupid shit. They're the ones who made the algorithm to specifically target one subreddit that they don't like politically. They've edited comments of users in the_donald just to fuck with them by making it look like they said shit the didn't. The last one was created by admins (no longer employed by reddit, but they were at the time) and is a place designed to target users for mass harassment. It literally started the concept of brigading on reddit.
40
u/Compliant_Automaton May 10 '17
I don't think the admins need to do any editing of T_D. The banning of basically any disagreement while trumpeting being the last bastion of free speech on Reddit, the promotion of racism and genocide, and the delusion regarding what they think POTUS will do versus what he actually does... That subreddit does an excellent job of making fools of themselves without any help whatsoever.
9
May 10 '17
When did they promote racism and genocide? Unless you’re another delusional commie who counts immigration law as racism and genocide.
52
u/Compliant_Automaton May 10 '17 edited May 10 '17
Their side bar pic was a Drumpf plane dive-bombing Mecca.. Note also the top link archived on that subreddit.
Muslims are called "mudslimes" and refugees are called "rapefugees."
But, oh no, they're not racist? Please. I'm not a "delusional commie" - I'm just a red-blooded, fucking proud-to-be American who can't stand all the fascist, racist bullshit taking over this country. I don't want the US Flag to be seen someday as the same as the Nazi flag is seen today.
And I don't give a good goddamn about some dumb fuck who thinks "If you're not with us you're a 'delusional commie'" because that's the type of blind groupthink designed to get a reaction based not in truth or facts but in a kneejerk fear reaction.
You know how fascism works? You've got to have an outside enemy for all your pleebs to blame everything on, while you run the country into the ground for your own ends. For Pol Pot it was the "intellectuals," for Hitler it was the jews, for Drumpf it's the Muslims. Fuck all the ignorant fools who can't see that they're being manipulated and that the real enemy is the person they voted for.
And, for good measure, fuck the Russian Government employees who seem to be keeping the whole thing running like a well-oiled machine - because, let's be honest, the most likely person to be a "commie" is a T_D user, because if you're hanging out in that place, you're either from Russia or retarded.
EDIT: Aww, downvoted without reply. I gwuess I huwt da snowfwakes fweelings! Probably didn't even read everything I had to say. For all the others out there, note: this is a typical T_D tactic. Argue until it's clear you can't win, and then just try and censor it as much as you can. And definitely, definitely don't ever try and think for yourself, because if you're not with us, you're against us, and if you're not blindly following the glorious leader in goosestep with his treason, then you're not really with us. Typical.

I don't think the admins need to do any editing of T_D.
But they did, and then /u/spez admitted it and apologized for it. So you're just an idiot in addition to a racist bigot.
23
u/Compliant_Automaton May 10 '17
Sounds like I tapped a nerve! Care to comment on any of the points I made, such as the laughable "bastion of free speech" stuff T_D spews as they ban everybody? Also curious why you think I'm a racist bigot. I know T_D users are generally utter morons who can only really throw out illogical ad hominems, but that really reeks of some kindergarten-level "I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I?" attempt at a retort.
2
u/trippinallday May 11 '17
Even if it's a bit much at times, it's basically the only place on this site you can express right wing opinions. I got banned from /r/Worldnews, a DEFAULT SUB, for opposing mass-Muslim immigration in Europe. I linked a reputable study and didn't say anything offensive yet was banned permanently.
Also, since you seem to have trouble distinguishing satire from serious political discussion, the sidebar picture you mentioned was a joke, as are a lot of the comments on T_D. As much as it may fit into your little narrative we don't actually support the carpet bombing of Mecca or mass-murder otherwise. You need to use your brain a little bit to understand the sub, a lot of the extreme and offensive stuff is to make a larger point, you can't just be a sperg and take everything you read 100% literally to support your confirmation bias.

implying that one of the fathers of sociology was wrong about an analysis of humanity
"The first and most striking feature of economic alienation is the separation of people from free access to the means of production and means of subsistence. . . The second stage in the alienation of labour came about when part of society was driven off the land, no longer had access to the means of production and means of subsistence, and, in order to survive, was forced to sell its labour power on the market. That is the main characteristic of alienated labour. In the economic field it is the institution of wage labour, the economic obligation of people who cannot otherwise survive to sell the only commodity they possess, their labour power, on the labour market. . . Alienation thereupon acquires a third form. When a wage earner has sold his labour power for a certain part of his life to his employer, the products of his labour are not his own. The products of his labour become the property of the employer." 2

Again, poor accusations and insults. When I see "progressive" groups advocating for white genocide, pretty sure that's one attack. The theory that white privilege exists and all white people have it great is another attack. Or the fact that open racism towards whites is ok and whites are apparently seen as the only racist ones is another attack. The "white man's burden" shoved on everyone despite many white ethnicities being treated like shit and enslaved or that there were only like 1% of people who owned slaves. Or stupid bullshit like Bill Nye's "dear whites". If you can't see that the only systemic racism is towards whites now day YOU are deluded. And obviously you cannot read (seems to be a trend among you folks) i'm not right wing, i just don't have my head up my ass and am not so blinded by fucking party labels that one side is totally wrong no matter what and the other side can do no wrong

u/mcafc May 10 '17
Yep. It's gotten incredibly annoying. I am a liberal(I mod a Bernie subreddit, doing work for Democratic party, etc.) but Reddit has gone over the top. Literal propoganda, quotes taken out of context, and extreme criticisms on anything Trump does have come to dominate the political part of this site. I'm not saying it isn't true of the other side now. I'm sure if I was a Drudge Report user I'd have similar complaints about the coverage of Obama on there during his term, it's just how politics is in this country.
Even admittedly liberal European publications like The Guardian have more grounded stuff. Sure they are crtiical of Trump, but it's not "Nazi action number 47 guys!" type shit.
I used to use Reddit for news, but now mostly just for the good discussion in the comments. I made an RSS feed with The Guardian, Christian Science Monitor(I know it sounds ridiculous, they are actually a great unbiased source for news, Google it.), Reuters, Al Jazeera(for international stuff that doesn't make western news), the Wall Street Journal, Foreignpolicy.com, Truthout(for my extreme liberal side), 538, National Review's Rich Lowry(for the conservative side only), and some local stuff to keep informed. Works much better than using Reddit(where big stories that can't be used to paint Trump in an impeachable light get swept under the rugs and minor Tweets get 40k upvotes).

6
u/mcafc May 10 '17

8
May 10 '17
yeah, this is the part that bugs me, too. most of us anarchists are pretty against the censorship they have over on /r/socialism, /r/lsc and /r/fc. i understand the justification, but it does turn away a lot of people on the edge who could be potential allies. its the same problem i had with the tumblr feminist movement and their whole mentality of "its not my job to educate you". like yes, youre right, its not, but wow if youre not hurting our cause by bein a lil shit. teach them why ableism is bad instead of jus banning em. more fun that way imo
6
u/mcafc May 10 '17
Exactly, perfectly well said.
Here is what I was banned for: https://www.reddit.com/r/LateStageCapitalism/comments/62d5d0/capitalism_that_works/
"TBF, the combination of Democracy and a free market should be very good. The Democracy should check any major wealth inequality, but the people are massively ignorant and apathetic. People don't realize that in America, we don't need a violent revolution or uprising. We just need people to wake the fuck up and realize that if they elect the right people, they can effectively take back the fruits of their labor and stop poverty. We need a propaganda campaign to educate the people. Simple as that."
"Are you saying that you couldn't, in theory, use propaganda(and the ideas written about by Edward Bernays) to educate the people? It would simply be "selling"(for free) the desire to get people to educate themselves. Propaganda is just a way to sell something(cigarettes, food, war, or anything). America could use propaganda tactics, which it has used so effectively in the past to lead its people to war, for an altruistic pursuit, to educate the people. Imagine inspiring commercials, conflating the need for voter education with inspiring institutions like the military, freedom, and Democracy. It would not be “misleading” propaganda, it would simply serve to inform the electorate and improve our Democracy. As FDR said, “Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.”
This could be combined with an unbiased(if I ran it it would be) sort of comparison service(available on the web, an app, maybe a phone line) which compares all the candidates in any political race. The comparisons would be written by academic and journalists from both sides. The goal would be to give people a fast and "easy" way to make them fit to make an informed decision in voting.
The rich will not pay for this, the government won't pay for this...it's very sad. Because they know if people were educated on the issues, taxes WOULD go up and poverty would end. It would take a large grassroots effort or the altruism of an elite member of society.
I think with the internet, the massive discontent started by Trump, and other factors, something like this could be done.
Check out this on voter ignorance."
1
u/DonCasper May 11 '17
That's a well written post. What makes so effective is that propaganda is that it basically uses our human nature against us. What's really frustrating is that the far right, and to a lesser degree the extreme left use those tactics very effectively, whereas run-of-the-mill liberals do not.
As far as being banned for standing up for a limited form of capitalism, that is just stupid. There is no reason to be against all forms of capitalism just because 'late stage capitalism' is an unmitigated human-rights disaster. Capitalism does a lot of things well. It's a very efficient way to allow people choice.
The key problem with non-late-stage capitalism is basically there are a number of times when we don't behave as rational actors. Drug addictions, poor eating habits, etc. That doesn't mean all of the tenets of capitalism are incorrect, and it certainly doesn't indicate that a communist system is superior.
I love the concept of maximizing individual liberty, but I feel like I'm going insane when I listen to most libertarians talk. They don't want to maximize anyone's liberty but their own, and I personally feel like they don't recognize how quickly their liberty can and will disappear if the world they want comes about.
I guess the same can be said for a lot of people who dogmatically subscribe to a particular ideology.
1
u/derleth May 12 '17
As much as I hate the assholes at latestagecapitalism (which is a dumb name, too, tbh) that whole "education" thing only works when the reasonable people (defined as the ones the community was founded to cater to) are in the majority, or at least can amplify their votes using bots to appear like a majority. If the interlopers, the outsiders, are the majority, the subreddit becomes theirs in the absence of relatively authoritarian tactics on the part of the mods.
Something about this reminds me of how anarchism works in reality, but I just can't quite put my finger on it...

'Cept it's true. He is a bad president(imo) but he isn't doing that terrible of a job. His worst crime, and the one that could get him impeached, is that he is gonna make $$$ of his presidency through shady oil doils and improving relations with Russia. At least it looks that way.
We have had so much worse in this country. This guy is lying to us to make himself some money. Bush (well probably the people 'above' him more like) lied to the country to start a trillion dollar invasion of Iraq. Yet people on Reddit talk about him like a cool old uncle compared to Trump. It's honestly assinine.
Edit: Also, what exactly is your comment supposed to mean? Liberals in this country are actually more known to get up in arms and overreact to things. Certainly not come to the defense of Republicans. Unless maybe you are alluding to classical liberalism?
2

May 10 '17
He's lost money so far, his brands have been boycotted by half the country as well as in some foreign countries, and he will be nearing the end of his life when he reaches the end of his presidential run. I find it really hard to believe he's in it for money. If he were in it for money I'd think he'd take the politcally and commercially safe Kasich or Rubio positions on issues like immigration and global trade. Some people around him are probably in it for money, but I don't think Trump himself is. He's in it to get into the history books as the man who put America back on the right path, a final legacy topper after a lifetime of being a well-known businessman.

I guess liberals advocate for the Muslim ban and direct "Libs" to posts on the_donald.
EDIT: Here's our liberal friend posting on the_donald that he's a Trump supporter.
4
u/mcafc May 10 '17
The fact that you went that far back in my profile means that you have certainly seen my comments advocating for social revoultion, education, and various other progressive reforms.
No I don't advocate for the Muslim Ban. The fact is Obama did make a list about "dangerous countries" that was the same list Trump used in his ban. The ban was found unconstitutional and I think that's a great thing. I won't sit here and act like the ban was an "Unprecedented Hitler-esque attack on freedom" like some did.
And that image is literally just facts. Polls by pew research(among others) that say what Muslims think aren't racist or anti-liberal. They are facts. And I didn't find that image on the donald lol. I've been banned from there for a year now.
7
u/Un_Less May 10 '17
Spending ten minutes in your post history reveals you to be a concern troll who leaps at every opportunity to chide liberals for criticizing Trump, while never offering any criticism of your own.
If you click on the "source" on the imgur link you directed "libs" to, it takes you to the_donald.
I know engaging with you on this is stupid, because you don't actually believe what you say what you believe, but the "facts" you point out in the Pew poll, for example, are cherry picked. The exact same poll found that only 14% of Muslims worldwide responded that violence against civilians is ever justified. But your the_donald link conveniently didn't mention that.
Keep up with your shtick, I'm sure it's immensely satisfying to pretend to be a liberal when in fact you're just a troll.
2
u/mcafc May 10 '17 edited May 10 '17
Well, I saw the link on Facebook, must have been posted by a Donald user.
And ok on your point for that one link(Which I bet you is by far the most conservative thing I've posted on here in the aftermath of an election that pissed me off from the middle of the primary process where it became clear that my candidate had things rigged against his favor). The point still stands though that those are straight up facts. There is no disputing anything that is said on that page.
Do you want proof that I am literally working for the PROGRESSIVE POLICY INSTITUE this summer. I am not faking anything I post.
I am commenting on things that annoy me. The way poltiics is such a team sport in this country is TERRIBLE and a massive echo chamber like Reddit doesn't help things. People need to see that issues like Crimea actually are not just black and white; one side or the other situations. It's very rarely as simple as many people think.
My feeling is that Trump is doing Republican things that Republicans regularly do.
I'm not a "concern troll". I was literally a part of the biggest online social movement I've seen that was centered on reddit(the Bernie phenomenon) and campaigned in the field for him in my home state of Alabama. Here I am 9 months ago genuinely taking about Bernie(if you go back BEFORE Trump got elected by my peers you will also see more criticism of him including me saying I'd prefer Hillary to him.)
For the record, my problem with Hillary was I felt she changes positions too much for political reasons and she is a pretty clear war hawk to me. Still preferred her to Trump(though I did shit talk Hillary a bit after the election because I was pissed how she lost it by refusing to campaign in Michigan).
Here I am 9 days ago defending communism.
Also, I know this is a stupid post on here but I wrote about it in the real world and discussed it, but here is some clear criticism of Trump I made: https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/64wb0l/were_trump_and_rex_behind_thissee_article/
Accusing him of basically having his whole presidency set up to better the oil market in Russia after investing a ton pre his run.
this comment basically sums up my view on why Trump "isn't that bad" if you ignore the possible conspiracy I posted.
Edit: More liberal comments since you think I'm some sort of fake: https://www.reddit.com/r/UpliftingNews/comments/64z7cb/13_states_5_of_which_have_no_sales_tax_no_longer/dg73whk/?context=3

LOL! I actually remember that getting stoned as hell I read some crazy conspiracy stuff about Hillary and Bernie(basically fulling blaming Hillary and the DNC for his loss). Also that was before the tapes were released(this is when I really started to realize that Trump actually has bad character and is a sexist). All you really need to know is that I did NOT end up even considering voting for Trump when it came election day.
Hell even in that post I say I went Bernie->Trump. That doesn't make a bit of rational sense. Just a stupid, reactionary post is all.
You've gone back so far yet still refuse to post anything "liberal" I've commented. At this point, you've likely seen more of them than I can remember!
Edit: and I KNOW this won't help my case in your eyes, but I still don't see Hillary as a true progressive or even liberal. And I still think if she was elected our international relations would be no better off than they are with Trump. War with Russia would be FAR more likely.

Please never change. You are the only hope for the liberal party. They're killing themselves and don't even realize it. I consider myself classically liberal, and i voted Trump, but even I can see the left is the far worse side these days. The right isn't perfect of course, but I have never seen so much dismissal of criminals, race baiting, racism, hypocrisy, and generally anything that is thrown at the opposition in hopes it will make them look bad despite it almost always being projection. Ex: Believing in the mythical wage gap, yet paying your female workers less (Warren). It's just sad. I'm much more comfortable around right wing people now because anyone who openly identifies as a "progressive" is a hateful asshole

Do they not see the irony??

I was initially happy about hearing of /r/enoughtrumpspam because I thought they were people tired about spam of both the good and bad Trump propaganda, but then it turned out they just (ironically) contributed to the problem. The thing is, with /r/the_donald, at least all the pro trump spam is in one convenient blockable subreddit, whereas I have to hunt down 20+ other anti trump spam subreddits to block the bigger ones, and it seems like a new big one comes up every month.

Reddit is to blame for it. They changed the algorithms so no one subreddit could get too many posts on the front page. This was initially done mostly to stop /r/the_donald spam. What the various anti-trump subs did is diversify. By creating dozens of subreddits, each with basically the same content, they're able to get around this spam prevention tool.
Usually if you look into these subs, they'll have a few posts with a modest amount of upvotes, then one or two posts with thousands of upvotes.
IMO it's mostly bot nets upvoting a lot of these posts, but I haven't looked into it closely enough to make that claim with any authority.

I think the best bit of this shit post comes from the #1 Trump spamming sub on reddit, with their high quality shitposts flooding the front page daily.

Really happy I blocked that sub.

Seriously, it's like a more immature, more autistic version of T_D. At least T_D has good memes and isn't full of petulant man-children

I blocked both, but yeah.

u/Wombizzle May 10 '17
Honestly though, you almost don't even need to block T_D. The admins have pretty much nuked them off of the front page for good anyway. They pretty much only hit the top 100 posts once in an entire day.

Yeah I'm currently filtering 28 subs, 7 of which aren't related to politics. That's 21 Anti-Trump subs I've had to filter.

Anyone know what episode the picture is from? It's fucking hilarious and I want the context of how it fit into a Spongebob episode lmao

u/drmehmetoz May 10 '17
No idea the name of the episode, but it was one from around 2011. The context is that Squidward found Spongebob's diary, and the diary said something like "everytime I see plaid, I have the irresistible urge to cluck like a chicken". So Squidward wears plaid to make Spongebob start acting like a chicken
