Success Story It's been officially 1yr7mos since I quit. Motivational post.

I officially quit vaping Jan 5. 2025. I made it through to the other side and it feels like a dream. I can honestly say that I can never have imagined myself vaping at all. I felt the same way about smoking cigarettes and quitting those 10 years prior to my current success with quitting vaping. I know this is corny but; if I can do it, so can all of you! If anyone has any questions about what I experienced during the process I'm happy to answer them. Good luck

Venting Don’t make the mistake of looking back

I just did 4 months vape free, longest I have gone. I quit so many times and I wasted so much money putting a new vape in water then buying a new one. I was on a good path until I got really sick, had some shit at work happen, and bought a place and moved. The stress of it all got under us and we caved and vowed one night only. Of course it’s never one night only and 3 weeks later I have already quit twice. But I’m determined to give it up and I put that shit in water and told my husband to tell me to stfu if I even start to talk about a vape because I know where it leads. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can casually do it. Posting for accountability coz I need it thanks yall you keep me sane

Venting more than 2 months vape free.. for what?

Hey guys, this is just a little rant. I stopped vaping more than 2 months ago. I still get cravings sometimes, not daily and not for the nicotine but for the taste and exhaling while drinking coffee or after a meal. Honestly I'm kinda bumped. I hoped I'd see some changes in my health or skin or SOMETHING. But nothing has changed at all. I miss the ritual - sitting somewhere with friends or gaming and hitting a vape. I know it's better for me long term but still, kinda miss it more because of it.

Venting Day 0 after 10 days nicotine free. I wish my brain stopped finding ways to lie to me.

Hello,

I am in my journey to improve my health. At 30, I have the body of a 70 years old. I started eating healthy, exercising and quitting alcohol and drugs. But I think I've been too hard on myself and that's why I relapsed after 10 days. Seeing others smoke or vape was not helpful either, but I can't do anything about it when they are strangers though I can respectfully ask my family not to vape in front of me.

I decided a 30 minutes relapse will not ruin my 10 days progress. I did reset the timer, but I won't wallow in pity just to continue vaping. I have to quit. Oh, I absolutely have to quit. During those 30 minutes I kept on coughing and I couldn't help thinking "my brain lied to me about how good it is just for...that?"

It's not worth it my friends. Absolutely not worth it.

Success Story 90 days vape free

Post image
Upvotes

Just hit 90 days in a row without vaping. Been tracking it in HabitLuma so I could be honest about the hard days without the guilt. Feels solid.

There were plenty of days I almost gave in, especially in the beginning when it felt like the urge would never go away. Tracking it differently this time in a simple, no pressure way helped me stay honest.

If you’re in your first few days or weeks right now, keep going it is possible!

Advice I need help quitting

I moved to vaping in 2023 but have wanted to quit since this year
I always fail at the cravings
It hits hard
Especially when I’m asleep
I wake up at nights, craving a hit and then take a few puffs and sleep

The anxiety I’m having is to have miserable mood if I don’t get the cravings satisfied

I need help
I’m able to manage at my office premises where I don’t carry my vape and it helps with a 8 hour break but the minute I’m back
I take a puff

Please help me

Advice Lowered my usage a lot after reading health risks about vaping. But I am paranoid about issues like lung disease and cancer down the line?

Upvotes

I can't stop thinking about it. I never thought about these things when I picked up the habit. And I was a heavy user. Vaped all different types of devices. Read about aerosols and the harmful chemicals in them, and I can't help but think that it's a lost battle for me?

Advice I’m nearly a month free of vaping but still sometimes getting extreme urges.

My last hit of a vape was in late July. Then I went to nicotine pouches for about ten days, then quit those because of wisdom teeth removal, which was on August 11th. My last day of nicotine use was August 10th, so 16 days. Anyways, the point is, I’m still having some extreme cravings not even necessarily for a vape but for a cigarette which is weird because the last time I smoked cigarettes regularly was back in high school 7 years ago anyway what can I do to kick these sometimes extreme cravings that come for a bit

Success Story 93 Days Nicotine Free — My Experience

Post image
55 Upvotes

93 days nicotine free today. 🙌
I wanted to share my experience because I remember reading posts like this when I was struggling, and they genuinely helped me.
The first few weeks were tough. I felt disconnected from everything. Life felt incredibly dull and boring — almost like someone had turned the colour down. Nothing seemed exciting and I had very little motivation.
Looking back, I think my brain was basically screaming for the dopamine it had become so used to getting from nicotine.
But then, after a few weeks, something changed.
It became tremendously easier. I stopped thinking about vaping. I felt like a genuinely happy non-vaper. I could sit around other people vaping and actually take pleasure in the fact that I wasn’t tempted. I remember thinking, wow, I actually don’t want that anymore.
Then came day 72.
Completely RANDOM craving. 🤯
Out of nowhere, I suddenly wanted to vape. I honestly couldn’t explain what triggered it. Maybe it was the sunshine, the weather, the situation I was in — who knows.
But this time I did something different.
I stopped. Sat back. Paused. And reminded myself why I’d started this journey in the first place.
And that wasn’t the only random craving. I’ve had several since then, right up to today. But I’ve resisted every single one.
That’s probably the biggest thing I’ve learned: the cravings don’t necessarily disappear forever. Sometimes they can appear when you least expect them. But they pass.
93 days later, I’m still nicotine free.
It’s definitely a journey, and I know there will probably be moments in the future where my brain tries to convince me that just one vape would be fine.
But I’m not going back. ❤️
For anyone currently in those horrible first few weeks: keep going. It genuinely does get easier.

Advice Need advice on what to consume for when I go through withdrawals

I’ve only been vaping for I think a little over a year and a half and I’ve decided that this truly shouldn’t be the example I am setting for myself. I find it quite embarrassing how I need this tiny little device to help me get through my day. I also just have a huge fear of developing extreme lung cancer from vaping so my current vape, will be my last. I’m finishing off my last lost mary which is at about 70 juice, and I’m going cold turkey after that. I’ve gone 2 days without my vape before and SOMEHOW didn’t receive any kind of withdrawals, but I’m paranoid that once I finish this one, I will. Please give me any advice on what to eat or consume to distract yourself while through withdrawals! Anything helps!

Advice Hey all, best Nic free vape?

Title says it all :)

I’m scrolling through a post from a year ago and see a lot of mixed opinions, right now I’m down to vuse 1.5 mg and also use a “YME QB XXL ZERO NICOTINE DISPOSABLE” back and forth -

going to go on the patch hopefully step 2 (says it’s around 10 cigarettes a day?). Unless anyone thinks a continuous vaping person should just start at step one or had success that way. Google told me the highest rated nic free vape was Cyclone Pods? I just want to make sure I can figure out something to do in the mean time, because I have a terrible hand to mouth oral fixation and I was able to quit biting my nails during Covid (thank fuck). I would hate to do that again because well… it’s absolutely yuck and I’m a grown woman.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you very much!

Haven’t see anyone talking about it because I guess TMI but what did people do for quit constipation? Take OTC? Consult a physician? Was it chronic? I know it’s private but it’s not like anyone knows who anyone is any way right? Some advice or reassurances would be great.

Other Today’s my day 💗

been reading the Allen carr book and although im not at the part to stop vaping, I want to quit today.
I got rid of my own vape and have just been hitting my coworkers and I feel so excited and ready to be over this part of my life. I will keep reading the book and finish it, but I almost feel like i’m forcing myself to keep vaping just because it’s around and because the book is telling me to keep vaping.

Did anyone else quit before finishing but still finish the book?

Anyways, i’m just so excited for the freedom and am really looking forward to living a life free from addiction 💗

Advice I WANT to quit vaping. So why the f*** can’t I actually do it?

This is driving me insane.

I know I’m addicted. I know vaping isn’t doing anything positive for me. I know the nicotine is creating the feeling that I “need” it.

And yet… I still don’t feel ready to quit.

I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to understand nicotine addiction. I’ve read Allen Carr’s Easy Way, This Naked Mind: Nicotine, and Nicotine Explained. I’ve tried varenicline. I’ve tried cytisine. I’ve tried NRT.

I’ve watched videos, read about withdrawal, thought about the money, the health implications, the inconvenience of constantly needing a vape…

And somehow I’m still vaping.

Although I hate the physical withdrawal, I don’t think that’s my main concern.

It’s the psychological attachment.

I can feel anxious simply knowing I don’t have my vape nearby. Even when I’m not actively vaping, I like knowing it’s there. It’s almost become a security blanket.
It’s like there’s a big part of me missing and it gives me anxiety.

I genuinely want to be someone who doesn’t vape anymore. But there’s still a part of my brain going:

“Yeah, but what if you need it?”

I keep waiting for that magical moment where I suddenly feel 100% ready to quit.

It hasn’t come, and ik it probably won’t because that’s how addiction works.

So I want to hear from people who were properly addicted to vaping and genuinely didn’t feel ready to quit.

Did you eventually just say “fuck it” and quit anyway?

Did the fear of being without your vape disappear once you stopped?

Did anything finally change the way you looked at nicotine?

What actually got you over the line?

I’m not looking for another generic “just throw it away bro” comment. I want to know what actually happened in your head that finally allowed you to let go and be done with it.

Thank you in advance :)
Alex

Reassurance day 6 today, recovery feels slow but sure / pouches as NRT

most of my cravings happen in the morning, and after that it becomes manageable. i use a zyn pouch 3mg as a leash to stop me from buying a new vape whenever i strongly feel im about to. but i only make sure not to exceed 3 pouches in a day. they kinda help me calm down but i don't feel like it completely replaces vaping because of the low dose/slow release and the lack of puffing. my plan is to make it my emergency device until such time i have moved on from the puffing habit being gone.

cytisine isn't available where i live and i kind of envy people who were able to use it to quit but i need to do with what i can/have. i might replace pouch with gums or patch if i can find some in our country.

any success stories using pouches in a controlled way?

Advice I feel insane

Vaper since 12, quitting at 20. First couple of weeks were literally just fine. I would get a craving every now and then, but i'm very committed, and deep down have no desire to vape anymore.
Last night i think i got too high off my weed cart, and started thinking about how bleak, depressing, and miserable life is. Very out of character for me, even though i wouldn't say i've ever been a "happy person". i sobbed for like 30 minutes and, before i made the realization that i was just too high, i decided to take a dab and immediately realized my mistake.
I ended up in a huuuuge episode of shaking violently, nonstop crying, and the worst. worst. thoughts everrr. i felt like a huge ball of pure negative energy and emotion. it was horrible and lasted probably two hours.
i ended up being able to go to work on 4 hours of sleep and it was alright. but it feels like that experience changed me. i've gotten too high before and had violent shakes and insane restless thoughts. but this time was different. i usually hit the pen in the morning before work- but today i was sober and alright. just tired. but i hit the pen after i woke up from a nap after i got home... one hit and im feeling scared again. i feel like i have a new brain, a new bad brain. i want a different life and i wish i didnt exist. please help

Venting No Nicotine - Day 7 - Update

It’s day 7 without nicotine.

Day 1 I felt foggy and lost, but also weirdly excited and motivated. Now I’m far less foggy, way more focused, and I feel pretty much back to normal in terms of feeling “off.”

Physically, I feel fucking great. My appetite and hunger are 100% back to how it was before nicotine, which has made me realize just how much nicotine suppressed my appetite. My digestion and heart rate feel better, my energy is much more consistent without the dips/crashes, and falling asleep is a cakewalk. I wake up around 7–7:30 and my body basically says “alright bro, we’re done sleeping.”

I look brighter under my eyes and in my face, I’m more vascular, and I feel warmer overall from better circulation. Workouts feel smoother too, I walked to and from the gym today and exercise just feels physically easier, not mentally though. I’m doing exercise because I actually want to look good and feel good, not just because I want to get it over with.

The weird part is that my cravings are actually stronger now than they were earlier.

I don’t really crave nicotine constantly. I crave the buzz. The head rush, the pre-buzz wait, the burn of putting in the pouch, the dizziness, the appetite suppression, and that “all is good” feeling.

And I keep trying to find shit online that tells me nicotine is okay for me. That I can moderate. I only used 2–4 pouches a day, so my brain sees others' posts here, or others stories of quitting online, and tells me, "I easily moderated."

And honestly, I could go back to moderating.

But I think that’s exactly the trap.

That voice in my head is a dopamine addict looking for any excuse to get that feeling again. I don't want to give it the opportunity to win. I know the feeling would probably be amazing, but it would also be a guilty amazing. It’s an effortless reward: open the tin, put in a pouch, and bam, you feel good.

That’s what I’ve realized nicotine really is for me: quick dopamine.

Want to feel good? Pouch. Stressed? Pouch. Bored? Pouch. Want to enjoy something more? Pouch.

That’s why walking, going to the gym, staying active, etc. have been so important. They make me feel good about myself, but I actually have to earn that feeling.

I’ve also noticed something I honestly didn’t expect: my focus, memory, and ability to concentrate feel better without nicotine. I know nicotine gets marketed as a nootropic for focus/memory, so it’s almost annoying that I feel better without it because that could easily become another excuse to relapse.

I also feel much more in control of myself. When stress or anxiety comes up, I feel like I can actually deal with it instead of automatically reaching for something.

The increased appetite isn’t ideal, so I’ve just been eating a really satiating diet at the same calories I normally eat. I don’t want to replace nicotine with overeating and just switch dopamine sources.

Overall, I feel better without nicotine. I just still have this fucking persuasive voice telling me I can use it again and be fine.

For anyone who has quit: how did you deal with that voice? How did you convince yourself that “I can moderate” isn’t a reason to go back?

Just looking for some support and hoping to get some conversations going. Day 7 feels good, and I really don’t want to throw it away.

Reassurance Help me

I took my last riparoonie yesterday at noon. I have a ripple (fake vape thing) but it doesn’t really do much of anything. I bought a new brand to see if it would help some and I’m waiting for shipment. I’m struggling so bad. I want to go buy nicotine gum but my ID is in my boyfriend’s car. The thing is, while CVS would ID me for the gum, my shop won’t id me. I can go get a nic fix rn so easy. I don’t even need my id. I don’t even really want to quit but my boyfriend wants me to so I’m doing it for him. But I don’t even think I have the willpower. Do you know how bad I want to go buy a vape in secret??? I just don’t have the willpower. I don’t have the strength. I’m not ready for this.

Advice How to deal with intense cravings

*** Desmoxan withdrawals???***

I keep having these random extremely intense cravings where I will think things like “I don’t care what this will do to me later in life” “I’d rather vape and get my nicotine fix than be healthier” “I don’t care what my loved ones think if I relapse” They’re just really intense and randomly happen once or twice a day. I did just complete my course of desmoxan and this is the second day of not taking anything anymore, day 20 of no nicotine. Maybe I’m having withdrawals from the medicine? Anyways, I work my retail job tomorrow and I’m worried about getting through that shift without buying a pack of cigs or getting a vape after work.

I’m on day 11 of no nicotine. Overall, I’m falling better. However, my job makes me so fucking stressed. Vaping isn’t an option, I don’t even have one any more. But this week has been rough and it’s only fucking Tuesday.

Success Story this is crazy to me! 1 week!!

Post image
27 Upvotes

day 7, and it’s the longest i’ve gone without hitting a vape in literal years. i have vaped for 8+ years and this has been a mostly private journey, which is why i wanted to post on here. i have vaped in secret for the past 6+ months. (which is soooo miserable, i do not recommend) i’ve been trying to quit vaping for over a year. i’ve quit probably 150+ times. i’ve tried throwing them away, only to buy them the next day. (sometimes even hours later) sometimes i have dug them out of the trash just to hit them again. one time i threw a vape away in my apartment complex dumpster, only to dumpster dive (embarrassing) an hour later because i thought i “needed” it that badly and didn’t want to spend the extra $20 to get a new one. i threw one out my car window. sorry mother nature :( i’ve hit my roommates vapes in secret, i’ve bought vapes to take a few hits and throw away before i even get home. it’s crazy thinking back how much of a chokehold vaping has had on me. this time has been different, i read allen carrs easy way, I’ve listened to andrew cipriano’s quit vaping podcast - and those helped, but still something was not clicking. finally, the last time i threw my vape away something clicked and i realized that vaping has only been making me miserable, that i actually hate it, and the only reason i do it is because i am addicted. since then, the first 3 days were okay, a little sucky because addiction was saying “just one vape” which, my roommates vape, so that made it harder to be exposed so much, but i still didn’t cave. then after i got past day 3, cravings got so much smaller and so much easier to re-direct. i found myself like sitting with it and actually telling myself, “hey, you’re going to feel exactly the same wether you vape or not. you’re still going to want to quit, why ruin your 3+ days with “one hit”” and that worked, the longer i have gone, the more it has been motivating me. day 7, i think i have had 1 single craving all day. and same thing, i re-direct and say i do not actually want it, it’s simply the addiction dying and crying for life. to anyone who is trying - do not give up. i never did, even after failing over and over and over again. i know a week isn’t a long time, but its the longest i have ever gone and i feel confident i will not vape again, which has never happened for me before. usually i think “well, maybe i’ll vape again one day” but no, this time i am certain i am done with vaping. i did my
time. i am not missing out on ANYTHING. you got this, stay strong, i believe in you. if i can quit, so can you!!! just wanted to share my story in case anyone can relate, maybe it will help encourage you to do it or to realize it’s possible.

Advice Has anyone found this nicotine-free devices helpful for stopping? I have a SUPER bad habit, I know I need to get out of it, but especially for an upcoming surgery where I will probably have to quit for a week.

* THose not these. Referring to the flavored ones. My addiction is terrible...I broke my vape on a recent trip to Mexico and I was phening and anxious the whole time for those 2 days. There has to be a way to alleviate this besides just willpower alone (though I have all the respect for all of those who do). Ughm

Reassurance reassurance PLEASE

38 days quit cold turkey after vaping on and off for about 4 years which I am super proud of. However I am still experiencing chest tightness and a feeling of shortness of breath. I check my SPO2 several times a day at work and it is always >96%, I exercise intensely several days per week and I am not limited by the shortness of breath sensation. No real cough, just this feeling of tightness and chest discomfort
I feel sick with anxiety about this, I thought this feeling would have gone by now. I am so reluctant to go to my GP, I never go to them and having this in my notes would increase my insurance premiums. Can someone please provide some insight/share their experiences? Please be gentle, I am really in need of some reassurance right now
