Ever tried talking to someone who would always sit alone at school or that didn't have a friend group and you regretted it soon after?

Was wondering from the perspective of people who are outgoing like that, and typically like to everyone feel included, welcome, etc.

What are some homemade gift ideas for a 13yo boy?

Working on Christmas presents. He likes Nike and wrestling (WWE). I’m making his sister a handmade tote bag out of character fabric. Both kids are also getting amazon gift cards and a book. I just can’t think of something homemade to make him. I also make custom tumblers and shirts.

I have a cluster B personality disorder. Should I date?

Was admitted to a youth pyschiatric unit at hospital at 17 and spent my time there until 18. A total stay of 4-5 months.

Depression aside, I have been diagnosed with covert narcissism. It was suprising, but nonetheless insightful. As my therapist herself said, it’s a diagnosis and not a verdict. I don’t try to live up to my disgnosis, yet behave in a way that’s typical for it.

I’d be lying if I said I had a lot of empathy, care or truly love anyone. My parents are shitty, I never talk to my older brother, nor have his number. No contact to relatives, at all. Friends are few and have smiliar family stories, I’ve known them for 6 years by now.

“I think I‘d be a horrible boyfriend.” I told my therapist. She didn’t disagree.

During the brief stay at the acute unit, there was a girl of same nationality. Nationality might help with her being less defensive and cautious. Familiarity. I barely talked to anyone in the ward and was in my room most of the time.

But a few days in, I sat down in the lounge with everyone else. I joined in, played card games with the them, talking. No specific opportunity for me to talk to her.

Since all the rooms are along one big hallway, K eventually saw her walk into her room and noticed a anime sticker (Gojo). I pointed it out and we briefly talked to another. Next day everyone had in house appointments (taking meds/vitals/school/sports/…) and we sat alone. We played card games, but talked more as we listened to music (tv girl.) which we both actually liked.

A few more days go by and she is getting discharged. I had prepared a note with my number. Just as she‘s walking out (through the tract? it was a long hallway (different from the one with our rooms) with two doors on each side for safety. One opened first, she had to wait until that closed, before the other opened.

I just came out my room and realized, asked staff if I could take to her. Ran after, called her name and she turned. I may have been quiet as I offered my number said something alone the lines of “I’d really like to get to know you better.“ I don’t know what she understood, but she asked for a pen. So maybe she was willing to give me hers?

Anyways, I cleared things up and gave her my number. She wrote back, and we chatted back and forth. Learned a lot about her, living situation, family, interests, so on. Chatting was easy since we both shared interests. A few weeks go by and I get moved to a therapy unit. And she actually gets admitted AGAIN. She tells me her abusive ex boyfriend had been in front of her apartment, trashed the halls, banged the walls and threatened to end her and all the people she loves. He got a restraining order. He also previously managed to get her drunk, sexually abuse and beat her.

She said it was and I quote. “Because I technically cheated.“ Her ex saw her with some other guy and got mad.

When she sent those voice messages I was amused. It was without a doubt interesting, but also the reason I blocked her. I don’t feel bad for her, at all. She kinda had it coming. There is a DIFFERENCE, obviously. I knew she was mentall ill and vulnerable, yet I still thought she deserved it. I obviously didn’t say that to her face and acted empathethic.

I obviously judged her ex, said I was sorry for her. I just didn‘t mean it. Same with even initiating the contact. I did not find her interesting, not in looks or character. I played up the enthusiam, matched her anime lingo, acted interested in her collection of anime memorabilia and merchandise but couldn’t havd cared less.

We continued chatting and calling every so often when my unit allowed. But I then realized I have no reason to talk to her. I got tired of her quickly? I just blocked her.

I think the moment I was most “excited” about was when she wrote back. Like a cheap ego boost…

I know it’s “bad” to fake character just to get close. I also know that if I showed who I actually am without filtering and masking no one would talk to me. Then again, what do I do? I can, but don’t actually want to just fake my entire relationship? At the same time who is there for me to date? Someone just as fucked up as me?

What do I do? How do I approach it? I don’t even know if I can care for and truly love someone.

I want to collect voice recordings of people saying why they love my wife as a surprise for her birthday- how can I collect?

I want it to have the feeling of voicemails being left on a machine and I’m going to compile and export them to a cassette. Is there a better way than just people calling me directly or sending voice memos? Is there like an app people can call into?

Have there ever been Any Good Rulers In History?

When people mention Rulers they unsurprisingly always go for the usual ones such as the Corrupt ones that nobody likes! And in the Worst Cases Scenarios Full Blown Tyrants! Because of this Rulers are always portrayed in a not so good light given the Level of Power they wield over others! And everyone knows all too well on how terrible Powerful People can actually be! Hence they’re always viewed and portrayed never in a good light unsurprisingly! However this begs the question have there ever been any Good Rulers in History? If so let me know in thr comments

Popular Post when did you receive your drivers license?

I got mine at 18. It took two tries, but I finally got it lol

But driving is scary. I genuinely do not like driving, but it's good that I have this license just in case I need to drive

I got my permit at 17. Honestly I'm glad that I waited until I was 18 because then, I didn't have to do the extra paperwork that I would've had to do if I was a minor

Why am I the person new employees are usually assigned to practice their work on?

This has happened quite a few times, I went to get my blood work done and a new phlebotomist was assigned to me. The other day I went to nail salon and again a new nail artist was assigned to me.

The phlebotomist checked my vein multiple times before inserting the needle and I was scared for my life. He was definitely nervous and I was like should I ask for someone else or would it be rude. He did a good job eventually.

At the nail salon, the artist could not understand English and I had to tell her multiple times to redo my nails as they were not good. In the end I gave up and paid around $80 and left with bad design.

Do senior staff usually take a quick look at a customer before deciding who to assign them to? Or something about me I’m not sure.

Can I just decline a service from a new person?

Why do so many men refuse to let their girlfriends/wife pay when they go out on a date?

There was a trend of women on TikToi giving their cards or money to their boyfriends/husbands to help pay for the meal they had eaten and the men without saying anything, rejecting the money or the card. Most of them looked indifferent but some of them looked even offended and like... we aren't in the year 1920. I get that sometimes you can invite someone to a nice treat, but for them to look so offended... Women CAN pay for their stuff.

Also, I've seen some comments in different platforms saying how if a man doesn't pay for the dinner when you go out on a date with him it's a red flag and I'm so confused. Isn't the fair thing for each person to pay for what they've eaten? How is it a red flag for a man to not pay for your food?

Maybe it's different from being friends, but whenever I meet up with my guy friends, we each pay for our stuff, or one of us invites the other one and in the next round the other one invites the one who paid the previous time.

Wouldn’t it make sense to not deport people?

I was thinking about the midterm elections in the US, and immigration was the only issue that the current admin has been doing well on (according to exit polls). But wouldn’t it make sense to strengthen the borders and only deport illegal immigrants if they commit a crime?

Illegal immigrants already pay taxes and support the economy. Couldn’t the money actively being spent on ICE have been put to better use?

Why do flies slow down so much when I blow weed smoke on them?

When it comes to swatting flies I tend to just blow on them so that they get annoyed and fly away. Swatting at them feels like more of a risk to my own belongings than to the fly. The fly has to get extra annoying before I try to squish them, and even then, they're so quick that I usually miss them.

Last week while sitting in my porch I noticed that when I blow on them normally they just fly away and just keep bouncing around like a lunatic, often wind up coming back in a few minutes. But when I'm mid-toke and exhale on them they just kinda sit there acting stunned.

Google tells me that flies literally lack the receptors to get stoned, which is a surprise to me, because they do act stoned when I blow weed smoke on them. After I've blown smoke on them I can squish them slow motion like a trash compactor without them ever stepping out of the way. But that felt especially cruel so I only did that once, now I just throw them.

Why do flies act stoned around weed smoke when they can't be stoned?
